Sending Out the Bat Signal

Day 3,453, 22:22 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Dishmcds
Hello Ladies and Gents;

As I get back to my old self, I've spent most of the evening talking to some of the more active players, oldies and younger ones, trying to reacquaint myself with the dynamics of our current state. Seems to me we're more like the Erepublik of Beta, to be honest. Our country is a small, but proud island. We like to talk like we're full of steam and knowledgeable. We like representation and we have a few people that work at trying to help.

But, speaking from experience a few is just not enough, and in this cold world, to grow we must change. We must accept our small, strong group as a solid start, but hovering around mediocrity (or lower) overall. We must work harder to get better, grow, and have some fun.

To that end, we really just need to get back to basics. Over the ten years that Erepublik has been about, we've developed Ministries, Cabinets, armies, navy, and so on. None of those, at this stage, are really going to do us much good if we can't staff them with people who want to take on a challenge. Here's what I think (to start, although the fun stuff comes later!):

1. We need to trim down to the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Defence, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Our CP should be able to be MoFA given our lack of involvement (or a vCP). Anyone else who wants to join the group can, in the form of people who recruit, look at rebuilding things like coordinated MU strikes and NHS, and so on. We need to get rid of what would be luxuries.

2. We need some sort of conflict, either internal or external. We need our politics to fight, or our armies to fight. While I certainly understand and support our foreign allies, we need something that matters to Britain, or there's just not as much excitement surrounding it.

3. We need to put some emphasis back in our local groups. With as few people getting involved, our political choices are gone. Our parties do not talk, we do not partake in mean spirited, vocal elections for parties and congress and so on. The most dramatic days and nights that we have now is trying to keep a ten year old multi-account from winning CP. Hell, if it makes people mad enough to get involved, bring back the House of Lords (HI KEERS).

Overall, we need to cut just about everything we're trying to do, and start small. We're small, we need to accept it. And then do fun stuff with it!

Until next time,
Just Another Guy
Your hopeful Deputy Prime Minister!
