Running for Country President in Norway September 2012

PRESIDENT ELECTION SEPTEMBER 2012

I am running for Country President in Norway this month. I have prepared a decent cabinet and I believe my candidacy is a safe and sound one.

I am an old timer in this game, having played for nearly three years. I've been working for eNorway in good days and in bad days, and I have seen players come and players go. One of my goals in this game is to stay loyal to Norway "in sickness and in health". I am confident players who know me would vouch for my loyalty to Norway and my allegiance to the players who work for the common good of our eNation.



GOALS FOR SEPTEMBER 2012

I have seen a huge number of all good intended projects or ideas go to waste over time. Either the player who initiated it got fed up or burned out, or real life simply got in the way. In my point of view this is still a game, and whatever volunteered work the players put into the game, it should be appreciated. It is a game, and it is supposed to be fun to play it. In my opinion, the best way to achieve this is through the social aspect of the game. When you get to know other players and interact with them, the game is more fun. We already have a working forum and we have chat rooms through IRC. In addition we have the shout walls for military units and political parties. Seeing that it is hard to get new players to use the forum, we need to find even more efficient ways to communicate.

Lately, we have been using ingame message threads to communicate with Congress Members and Government. In addition, I want to see if we can have MU Commanders and Party Presidents communicate with each other the same way. Norway is a small and transparent nation, and for us to survive the upcoming months, we might need to cooperate.

We also struggle with players who gets bored by Norway since we seem to be stuck with one or two regions. They forget that we need more active players, or players in general, in order to prevent a political takeover (PTO). If we were to liberate Norway, what would stop enemies from taking over our political power? I want to try help Norwegian players to run for Congress, even if they think they're not Congress material. I'd rather have a noobish Norwegian Congress member than an enemy inside Congress. Players who complain over noobish Congress members would realize that by criticizing them too hard will push them away, even from the game itself.

I should also mention that I am for the continued work on having Norway cooperate closer to Finland and Sweden. Those of you who paid attention on what happened in August, we voted on leaving EDEN and join Asgard. This move were rejected, mostly due to Asgard being half-baked defined. The treaty was at the time a draft, and most of the Norwegians were reluctant to leave EDEN for something vague and unsafe. Never the less, I personally want Norway to fight for and serve a common Scandinavian/Nordic cause. Asgard is a grand idea, and I want to pursue it further. I think that will be more motivating and a lot more fun. At the same time, if leaving EDEN means becoming enemy of EDEN, then the choice might become unbearable.

I will present a more complete cabinet with role descriptions if I win the election.



I like to wish Per Jostein the best in the election. He is a good opponent, dedicated to Norway and our cause.
