Looks like we're the first to ditch the failed political module in light of an ever-decreasing populace that makes the party political system both pointless and unworkable.
Doubt we'll be the last tho.

HAHAHAHHA YES!! XD

Wait, what?
Nice, but that is a universal law pal 😃
The media being full of electioneering articles the night before the CP election?
Yeah I saw that in many countries and also people are advertising about that on ever where too 😛
I know yh but I'm in eCuba to fight against Mex, so I only have access to their news atm 😉
Love it !
Sad, but not entirely unexpected. We basically have one crew running government right now no matter who gets elected.
As long as we have a roundtable executive, open to volunteers from all parties, like it has been every month I've been in cabinet, then I don't really have a problem with it tbh. Congress is in a worse place imo, absolutely zero engagement on the threads.
Not saying it's because of some great evil or anything, just that it's sad that party politics is pretty much dead in eCan.
Yh, tho tbh in other countries I think its just the multimaking that's giving the impression party politics is still alive and kicking there. Seems eCan is just one of the first nations were multimaking for political gain has just trailed off into insignificance, thus killing most of the parties and rendering any and all cross-party debate null and void.
I remember back when it was cool and edgey to go into a CP election with no platform or articles.
These days I don't think that's what people are aiming for tho, it seems more like apathy. Everyone seems to be aware they're supposed to be voting for their own party, meaning candidates don't really need to produce articles -- just ensure everyone in their party knows who's their party candidate, which is probs done via party PMs, or at least that's how it looks anyway.
Lol. I bet you're giving them too much credit.
it will remain like this until the admins change the dictatorship module and until they change the congress module back to a voting for a single person instead of a party.
I think had they revised the congress module back to single candidate voting 2-3 years ago, then it might have been a shot in the arm for the good in the game. But, after wiping out thousands (tens of thousands?) of customers with changes likes that over the years, I don't think the game has the numbers to recover. And tbh there are better games out there, V1 Erep clones and the like, that offer everything earlier/superior versions of this game did, but without the pay-to-play/win component. I don't see why any gamers interested in playing a game like this would be inclined to chose Erep over one of them tbh.
I'm torn on this (not that it's coming back). There were definitely problems with the old system with great possible Congressmen not being elected because they were in a tough region. And while it was fun trying to coordinate voters at the same time that is somewhat undemocratic, placing the party over the best candidates and possibly over policy. But it is a game, right, so maybe it should be fun - even if it meant that unaffiliated players like me had a harder time getting elected after the change.
As far as I see it, the biggest reason that Congress is dead is because it's basically useless at this point. The biggest culprit here is the universal currency. We once had unique economies for every country that required tweaking. Now we set the work tax once every so months and occasionally debate the pros and cons of free trade. What else is there to do?
I liked the old congress voting model way better. There was a real feeling of satisfaction when you won a seat, as you knew people were voting for you rather than blindly voting for a party. In the eUS, machinations went on right up until reset as seats were hotly contested, and people were shouting to send votes to this region or that, something that was a hugely engaging aspect of the game, and a void that was never filled when the party voting system was implemented. Another For Shame! moment on plato.
You kind of contradicted yourself there. People voted where parties directed them to go vote. Better potential Congressmen - who might even had had their own opinions (!) - in hotly contested regions were abandoned in favour of easier wins.
Quantity of quality was the name of the game. The more Congresssheeple you got elected, the better.
Plus it was about who was better organised for those last minute pushes at 3 a.m. (or, fortunately, 9 a.m. where I happened to be living at the time) that decided the fate of elections.
That's why, theoretically, the current system is better for democracy (if we're dreaming here, we might as well dream big). The cream of the crop should rise to the top of the list each month (with perhaps some new members allowed a chance, too). We should have Congresses full of the best minds right across the eWorld! And it wouldn't matter when you voted - your vote always counted the same as any other (remember those dozes
But of course reality has hit in and there are no good Congressmen left, at least in this land.
No, back in the old eUS their were some significant MUs (both in size and influence) that supported eachother politically, plus hundreds of floating voters, that a good article could convince to vote for you. And in the eUS there were enough seats that you could compete in one of the quieter states -- whilst the big parties and their leaders would exhaust themselves fighting over a handful of the same seats -- and expect to get over the line.
Lol wow. Damn Canada

This isn't really a role-playing game, I'd say the eNations putting so much effort into ePolitics really have nothing better to do IRL.
This game is just a cash cow for some guy in Ireland. It isn't meant to be good or provide some sort of innovative experience. Just a source of income. Creating competition makes money and provides incentives for Gold purchases (dictator module, BH/CO, competitive MU's, badges/achievements). The Political module doesn't accomplish this because it takes work - thats WHY the Dictator module was created, so people can BUY the right to be CP and not work for it.
2-clicks is all this game takes and for at least me that is good enough for the most part.
The company that owns Erep is just registered in Ireland, for taxes reasons in all likelihood, its owned by Romanians primarilly, with main offices in Madrid, Spain as far as I'm aware.
Otherwise I agree 100%, despite Bonte's recent article talking game improvements or w/e, unlikely there is any confidence admins truly have either the wit or will to get anything meaningful implemented. After 5 years of mismanagement and money-grubbing, the ship has sailed for most people. And tbh no one really GAF at this point.
I think one major reason nobody cares anymore is that it shows that they don't. The map is supposedly still in beta and hospitals are still for sale on the monetary market even though it's approaching (?) half a decade since they were last built. They don't even clean up that crap and yet people still pay to play...
This says it all:>
"hospitals are still for sale on the monetary market even though it's approaching (?) half a decade since they were last built. "
HALF A DECADE. Unbelievable!
Shows the *real* thought admins put into this game
I think anyone putting any effort into this game probably has nothing better to do. Back when I was putting in the effort (and there was a need for said effort) I was still a student and an intern. As soon as I had a full time job where I couldn't dick around all day, I started only really commenting in the evening. Now I still only log on in the evenings but there's nothing to do now.
I guess what I'm saying is sorry for killing fun politics in eCanada. But I've got mouths to feed. So not sorry. 😃
lol

If anything, eCanadians should be commended for the lack of electioneering in the media.
Putting a political spin on this game is just polishing a turd at this point. Better to flush and forget about it.
we seem to have a hard working dedicated crew taking care of things. no need to fight over control anymore i guess. Kind of refreshing after all the years of petty bickering.
All it took was the corpses of 80% of our populace to have political peace. I call that a Rylde win lmao.
last man standing gets to be president 😛
I declare thee King of the Turd!
You may now claim your throne.
