eRepublik Economy — Stupid and Useless
Exolothreutis II
Here's something that always baffled me in eRepublik. After all these years of fine tuning military module Plato still doesn't give a shit about the economy module, not even trying to pretend that it matters.
Let's assume you want to start your own business in eRebublik. You hire some employees, here's the going rate:
Then you build a factory (for example you want to build aircraft missiles) and start using your employees. One employee gives you 250 raw material for missiles (best case scenario).
Then you finally ready to build some missiles. One employee produces 5 missiles:
Ok, now it's time to sell your merch. Let's calculate the price:
( 200 LVL / 250 RAW Materials * 100 + 200 LVL ) / 5 missiles = 56 LVL
And what is the going rate on the market? Well, here it is:
Of course we all know the answer. The economy where gold is infinite and can be purchased quite freely is unsustainable. Might as well kill the entire economy module and focus on military.
P.S.: While the question is legitimate and something that has bothered me for long time, this is a 25 comment article, so your comments are appreciated. Add me as a friend, while you're at it.

True; I remember the beginning of the economy where you could make profit even with Q2 or Q3 food. Having a Q3 factory was an achievement for me at that times.
With factories that can work yourself it's still possible to make some profit, since you accumulate practically free resources over time. But with factories like aircraft missiles, where only hired employees can work, it doesn't make any sense. No sense of achievement indeed.
at eRep 1 i had house company in Turkey, it as occupied by other countries every other week, so i had licences to Bulgaria, Serbia and other countries for 5 gold instead of 20 gold and it as profitable and going bussiness but had to spend time to look after it and manage emploees, now all of economy is F*** and here is just paid packs and gathering points, no game anymore

Voted and this ir true story .... 😐
If I own a commune (or some multies *cough😉 I am always able to produce stuff for the lowest price. Also some people still got workers with a quite low salary - and you don't have to produce the final product, sometimes it's just better to sell the raw materials.
Last but not least there are also people who aren't able to do the maths and sell their stuff without generating any profit.
So, besides fighting multies, what should be changed?
(And you may create job offers in different countries. That way you are still able to get some low salary workers as not everybody knows external tools which provide the job offers with the highest salaries)
To be honest, not quite sure how this can be easily solved. Multies is a solution, although it's considered cheating, and it's a hassle anyway to relogin all the time.
What would help, at least in the short time, are some missions tailored for the economy. For example: Mission to generate true income, mission to sell some tanks with a profit, etc.
Also, I think, it would help if the currency had more value. But this is a tough question without some serious math. Besides, pay-to-buy-gold model will always be broken.
sellers are noobs
😉
The market price is set by retards selling below profitability 🙂 voted though 😃

its hard to get a profit, fair enough, but you got the detals a bit wrong, got to find the right place to produce.
looking at the table that i posted.
2 employees produce 915 raw materials
that are used by 5 employees producing missiles
915/183 = 5
9.15*5 = 45.75 missiles
missile price in germany 33 lvl
33*45.75 = 1509 lvl
7*200 = 1400 wages.
This is interesting, although definitely beyond regular player knowledge. What's the location with such bonuses?
Quetta, Balochistan, Iran
I like it how the balance excess in raw materials production with more materials needed to work: 200/457.5*183=80 and 200/250*100=80.
If you buy raw materials (183→60.39LVL) then you can have a better profit margin: (60.39+200)/9.15=28.45LVL
not a big profit, but a profit though
I produce food myself. I have enough energy for myself and allways extra for sale.
It's different for the companies where you can work yourself, that allows to make some decent money over time.
Well when house buildings came out i understood that you can't make money out of them. Same is with rockets
it is annoying though, that in latvia the price is so low, i have no clue how you can make that profitable. and ppl keep selling so cheap
well, buying the raw mats would give me a little profit i guess, but that takes ages to get the money for the companies back >_<

House and missle factories are only profitable if they are in regions with fill bonus + hiring people in countries are lower. In such way you can get profit.
But of course it's more difficult than simple work as manager.
About ERep economics in general. I remember, that one of my first articles almost 7 years ago was that there is a great overproduction in ERepublic. 😃
It could be thesis for some bachelor or masters paper in some university about ERep economy. 😃
