Dish4CP - Foreign Affairs, Alliances, and Action

Day 3,480, 21:10 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Dishmcds
Ladies and Gentleman,

First, let me start by saying this is probably the most interesting impeachment vote I've seen in a long time, so congratulations to Dapper and his crew for that. Only the next twelve hours or so will tell, so we'll see what happens. Ultimately, it could lead to King William being President for about six days (including election verification time, of which I hope he's at least paying attention to what MPPs we need to continue and so on), or the alternative is that it might not be the best idea you've had and we end up with other more serious problems, in a world that seems bored and full of potential invaders.

Time will tell, but at least it's been exciting and "covfefe".

Action, or Lack Of

For any of our newer citizens (or those who seem to have forgotten), the basics of Government in this game aren't very complete. There's an in game President (of which I would like the honor of being), which in game proposes protection laws with our allies, among other things. There's Congress, which can propose tax changes, wage changes, vote on any law, impeach, and so on.

There's also a bunch of other "ceremonial titles" with very little actual functionality, but they look cool. As for the one I carried this term (Prime Minister, essentially the vCP), I can tell you I have no other buttons to push. Everything else is based on people sending messages, writing articles, or spending time on discord talking to each other. In particular, this is where most Foreign Affairs work is done (HOW DO YOU LIKE THAT TRANSITION). It might sound dull to make things like this, but the fun you seek, the wars, the alliances, the medals, are all created with various amounts of people sitting behind a keyboard for far too much time talking about.....stuff.

So, let's have a look at Foreign Affairs now. 😉

Foreign Affairs

This term I'd like to see something just a bit different around Foreign Affairs. Usually, there's a Minister that works with Foreign representatives, or the President, in regards to all alliance matters as well as country to country relations. This term, I think we're going to get something more functional if we break those apart somewhat. We will have a Minister of Foreign Affairs, with preferably at least 2 deputies, to work on talking to each nation within Erepublik. It's pretty straightforward, I typically keep an open mind on what each country and what value they have is. I do not reject friendly relations with anyone willing to offer, but I also do intend to leave what relations we have with other countries to the will of those voting as well.

Alliance Attaché

This is somewhat different this term for me. Usually this is tasked to the MoFA, but I believe with the way alliances are currently set, I'd have an Attaché tasked specifically with communication and the relationships we have with not only our alliance of Orion, or the ones we're friendly with, but any others as well. I will continue to support our allies, but I do believe it needs to be put to the will of the people, and we need to ensure that we're in a functional relationship to ensure that we have the best interests of the United Kingdom at heart.

In a perfect world, we will be looking at a more functional, more "exciting" month, in my opinion. Whether that means we have a friendly competition that is more than just a training war, or we end up elsewhere, we need to find something to let you, the citizen have fun.

At the end of the day, our goals as a country should be three fol😛

1. Utilizing all aspects of this game to succeed, which means offering the chance to fight (win medals, money, etc), the chance to run businesses (if you choose to), and the chance to have your voice heard.

2. Following game mechanics the proper way, making sure that we attack, defend, sell, buy, protect, and tax properly. Some of them are a little confusing, but ultimately the more coordinated we are as a group, the better we're going to be.

3. Have fun. Talk. Get to know people. Send gifts, recruit your friends, tell some jokes, whatever you need to have fun. This is a community based game. Have some fun with it.
