Brazil, TERRA, and Aquitaine

Day 1,675, 08:05 Published in USA Australia by Reximus
Intro

Well, this has been a trying time for the eUS. This article's title sums up all of the latest news for the last few days. The eUS is in a frenzy of international relations, economic downturn, and general discomfort. The leaders of the eUS are pretty busy trying to get affairs in order, but I have some top-notch Executive-Branch leaders to help us make sense of these trying times.

BRAZIL and TERRA

Day 1,667 -"In the next few hours an article will be launched, communicating to the whole eWorld the departure of Brazil from the alliance, TERRA."
This is a translation of the first hint of Brazil's departure from TERRA. The article can be found in Portuguese here: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-mdc-um-comunicado-importante--2059001/1/20.

You heard that right: Brazil, a founding member and powerhouse nation of TERRA has quit. Now, that's not news much anymore, but it is still causing an uproar. President Israel Stevens says TERRA isn't dead, however, TERRA lost one of its most powerful nations, simply because we didn't prioritize her like Brazil should have been. Presidential Candidate Glove said "the eUSA (ought to) leave Terra as well, because it is at the point that it is no longer an alliance, but rather friends in name only." The media, one of Glove's strong suits, has been advocating withdrawal almost since the Brazil's leaving. Government-media and officials have another view, it seems.

Now let's hear from hose trying to mitigate the fall-out, Secy. of Education Dennis McVicker and Director of Ambassadorial Affairs Evry.

D😨What do you think of Brazil leaving Terra?
Dennis: Brazil leaving Terra was the result of politics inside the alliance, their departure in no way effects relations with the eUS, or our government as far as I can see
Evry: I'm sorry to see one of our closest allies leave an alliance which we helped create together. I understand that their greivances are directed more-so towards Terra HQ and not to any specific member country, however, it does sadden me to hear of everything that has happened.
D😨Should the eUS follow Brazil and maybe even form a new alliance?
Dennis:The eUS government should always weigh their options regarding potential allies. This does not mean we should leave Terra, but it does mean we should always seek out ways to make the game more exciting and enjoyable for our citizens by assessing our alliance periodically and seeing what is working for us and what is not. If there is a chance to form a new alliance, especially one that is more Americas focused, I would personally favor it. With that said, I do not think we should leave Terra until we have an alternative in place or we have exhausted all other options.
Evry:I can't comment on diplomatic negotiations, however, I personally would be pleased by the US and Brazil remaining very close allies for the future.
D😨How are foreign affairs going in general?
Evry: Foreign affairs are going nicely, as far as I know. I mostly only handle the ambassador portion of it. However, we can always use a few more ambassadors. I ask that people who are interested in meeting new people and getting involved with the government to take a look at my article about ambassadors and applyvia the application towards the bottom.

AQUITAINE

Day 1,673 - The eUS is defeated by Poland in Aquitaine, a "defend-at-all-costs" region, losing its 100-100 bonuses. The economic and strategic impacts are taking a toll on all Americans; production is at a real low point. Here to talk about the impact are Evry and Dennis McVicker.

D😨What does the loss of Aquitaine mean for the eUS?
Dennis: The loss of Aquitaine is a major setback, both economically and strategically. If we're lucky, that setback can be made up for, if not we're looking at a very long month or two ahead. I think the government, our alliance, and our citizens should be very proud of the efforts they made; we were just out fought and probably outspent.
Evry: Well, besides knowing a fairly decent amount about foreign affairs, I also have a strong economic background. The loss of Aquitaine directly translates to less economic production, higher prices for food and guns, and therefore, less damage output by our citizens, specifically ones typically in Division I and II. Those 2 divisions are typically our worst, and therefore this loss hits us very hard.
