3 Goals for the RLC

Day 1,696 of the New World
12 July 2012

Greetings to all eRepublikans, especially citizens of the eUSA, and even more specifically to members of the current #3 Political Party, the Republican Liberty Caucus.

As the day draws nearer for Parties to elect a President, I want to elucidate a few of the goals and supporting strategies I intend to organize in the upcoming month(s).

But first I want to offer a few brief words in response to the article I published yesterday and several of the comments which appeared thereafter.

I believe that the RLC will be a permanent home to those whose strongest motivating factors for playing this game each day is to take a stand against the corrupt powers in Government. Maintaining the edge that comes from deep agitation is a good thing, and I hope to see it continue. Nobody around here is getting soft on crime.

I also want to ask for some compassion from those of you who wondered why I did not leave for RLC sooner. The truth of the matter is, I am sort of bending the heck out of a certain rule as it is. Let me explain.

One of the stipulations in the Easy Company Charter is that the Commanding Officer of EZC be a Federalist Party member. In fact, the CO of EZC is by definition a member of the Federalist "Cabinet". When I began to realize that I would be leaving the Federalist Party, the only real consideration I had to make was what to do about Easy Company.

I have a deep commitment to the members of EZC, many of whom are RLC members. You may not think so, but leading a militia of that size (it is well over 200 active members) is not simple. Add to that complication the fact that no sooner did I have a few plans drawn up for transition than a former XO departed, made his own MU, and dragged 30 or so very active members with him. So the month has been a difficult one.

Suffice to say I am STILL working with my replacement on getting everything transitioned so that I can formally retire as CO of Easy Company. Giving up that position is a very hard thing for me to do. But it is coming. Anyway, that is one of the factors that has been dragging my feet.

The other reason was that I was actually the Federalist Party President ingame. The properly elected Fed PP had to return to two-click mode and as the highest XP member in the party, the seat fell to me ingame. I was not going to jerk the party over by leaving the ingame PP seat to an unknown until there was little remaining opportunity for potential harm.

That is way more than I wanted to write about it, but there it is.

Now on to our plans for a future.

There is currently almost no infrastructure at all in this party. Perhaps that makes some sense considering our rogue image, but when it comes to success over time, some structure is needed.

So a primary goal needs to be the building up of our Party infrastructure.

In order to do this, I intend to rely a lot on the ingame communication system. Our Forum will need to be actively used by Party leaders, but I have learned that becoming too dependent on a need to drive ingame traffic to a metagame forum is an unwise plan. The systems I've developed for Easy Company rely on the Forum for almost nothing, mostly just the convenience of getting people set up with uniforms for their avatars. Everything else we did, we used ingame messaging.

There must also be a much broader involvement in Party-oriented activity. This past month, Dutch has had to spend most of his time defending the Party against those who see it as little more than a hive for nefarious individuals. Little attention has been available for actually organizing as a political machine.

That will change. We will become much more a Party of involvement and activity, not just a Party which offers "Top 5 Access".

"Top 5" status is easily lost, and the goal here is to remain influential by earning our place among the other active parties.

Another goal is to get set up ASAP for Congressional Election time. In order to do this, I will be building a technology suite so that our information, communication, and response time will be second to none on the 25th.

Folks, this isn't my first rodeo... We'll have every opportunity for success.

The third goal I will state here has to do with the use of ingame Media.

Though the thoughts of many who believe that Media is dead have been broadcast far and wide, I maintain that the Newspaper is still a profoundly powerful device for organizing, communicating, growing, and leading. During my term in Office, this Party will not be quiet.

I ask for your vote of support for the Gnilraps/Joseph Dinero ticket on 7/15/12.
