(SNP) Unity & Accountability

Day 3,236, 18:42 Published in Switzerland Ireland by OogieBoogie3

In wake of the political fallout following whatever it was that had occurred within the ongoing joke that is the Swiss Pirate Party, I feel obligated to express my concern with the SPP as a so called "professional" political organization.

Now before you all get offended, I'd like to acknowledge that there are a lot of good people with the party, but its dysfunction and internal bickering potentially set Switzerland back several months, and caused a lot of unnecessary political turmoil that directly effected our government. There were resignations in both congress and high seated political cabinet positions. Several members exiled themselves from the country, and stability was nearly lost within the government.

To this day, we do not know what had happened in full. We received only small, vague details, and no in-depth explanation had been released. Now, any turmoil from within a party in my opinion is not state business, not unless it negatively affects the government. It seems rather unprofessional that so many people jumped ship (pun intended), abandoning the decks (pun intended), and sailed away into the sunset (pun also intended) with no official press release revealing in detail what had happened. An emergency board should not have to be established because a political party can not get its sh*t together, and on top of all of that, it's inexcusable to me that so many though-to-be "patriots" were so willing to give up all they had worked for abandon ship. These resignations raised major questions (in my opinion at least) about the loyalties of Swiss Pirate Party members. Blackbeard00 resigns from all posts and calls it quits, and several more follow suit? Are we not good or reasonable enough to address and battle through adversity? I'm not making excuses for mungos032 either, because he did the same, but he did so after serving his oath to office, and the country's security and integrity was not left vulnerable when he did so.

We need to be stronger, and we need to be willing to put our differences aside and work together. We need to be what we volunteered to do; public servants. As government officials, it is our duty, not our obligation to put the interests and well being of our citizens and homeland before the interests of our party, and to the interest of our own. That is what the government is meant to do; govern.

I'm dissatisfied with the direction that we're heading into. I feel like we are weaker and more vulnerable now than we were several months ago. There's a lot of uncertainty about who we are and who we should be. I do not believe it's our obligation to serve the political interests of Asteria; but on the contrary, I give high marks to our diplomatic teams for working as hard as they have, because they've done their best to better our position on the global scale.

However, I think it's in our best interest to strive towards being a neutral asset in the world. Be open to everybody, but loyal to nobody. We should be concerned about ourselves, and ourselves only, but that also requires that we are smart and active diplomatically. Isolationism is counterproductive, but pledging loyalty to an imperialistic alliance is no better, because in their eyes, we are an expendable asset.

Switzerland also needs to strive to be more open and democratic. Our citizens deserve to know about the internal issues that effect their livelihood and our sovereignty collectively. I refuse to not recognize the reality that our so called "Democracy" is also bound by a supreme entity that is the "dictator". I keep hearing the same excuse for not abolishing the dictatorship, that being that "our security would be at risk". Congress has no power to propose legislation and political actions. They also have no power to vote on such actions proposed by the dictator on their own. That's not democracy in my book, or any book really. We elect public officials to govern, but they are binded by their hands and feet, and silenced by the supreme power of the dictatorship that overrides them all. And as for the questions of security, it's supposed to be congress's job to approve citizens, and if your concern is that they will not have any oversight, then perhaps we should build an oversight committee to screen new citizens and determine whether they are friendly or foe, before congress approves them to be Swiss citizens. We need to better ourselves and quit making excuses and accepting the status quo; we are better than that, and we are strong and intelligent enough to find ways through adversity.

But I haven't seen a whole lot of that to my disappointment. Lady Silver, Blackbeard00, and mungos032 (my good friend) before them... All said "f*ck it" when they were tested by their own ranks. mungos032 was strong to external opposition, but weak and intolerant from within our own borders. Blackbeard00 and Lady Silver, while almost capsizing (I'll keep the pirate related puns going) the government, expressed the mentality of quitters. They're weak, like them or not. You don't have a little hissy fit from within the organization that you built, and the country that you govern, and then fail to address it all. You stand for what is right, and reach across the table, and you compromise, you govern; you do your job. We need accountability in all positions, at every level, from everybody.

Switzerland, my fellow citizens and colleagues; we all need to be better. I'm obligated to forgive in full Blackbeard00 for giving up on us when he did, because ultimately he cooled himself down, assessed the situation, and came back. A formal apology would be appreciated, but it's all good for now, as long as the drama and bickering are over; as long as it's behind us and will no longer be an issue. We can't afford any more dysfunction and drama from within our ranks; we need to be unified.

I needed to put that out there, but as always...

Long Live Switzerland!

We're Stronger Together!

Thank You, signed... Your Prime Minister.
