[EZC] Commune Report

EZC Commune Report
Day 1,857 of the New World
20 December, 2012

If you watch the daily ranking of Military Units in eUSA, you will see that Easy Company routinely appears at the top of that list. It is a list which simply ranks MU's based on kills during the previous day. Occasionally we take second place, but that is rare. Easy Company logs more kills than any other American MU.

(Yes, I know that influence is the more important factor in determining battle outcomes. I also know that in term of kills/member EZC would slide down the scale. This is not an article proclaiming Easy Company to be the strongest MU, nor the one with the most goldbeasters. We are merely the MU which pumps out the highest number of kills)

You may also note that the other MUs which routinely appear in those rankings (Special Forces {SF}, ST6, Air Force) are all Government funded units, meaning they get a pile of cash each week which is spent on Weapons Raw Materials (WRM). The advent of Q7 weaponry made WRM the single greatest concern in equipping a successful MU. Since our government is committed to using tax income to increase battle damage, Government-funded MU's are an obvious solution. This article is no insult to the fine work they do.

(Special mention should be made about the CivMU, a donations-based MU with a very high kill count and rainy sunday at the helm. By "donations-based", I mean that this is not a commune-supported MU meaning it is an excellent choice for anyone who wants a regular market-wage job, wants to belong to an active MU, and still wants to receive some supplies for fighting.)

But our focus is on Easy Company, and my purpose in writing this is to reveal for the first time the inner workings of the Easy Company commune system. I choose to publish this for the following reasons:

1: Easy Company personnel deserve to know this information. It will explain why I am often selling off Q7 tanks in the EZC MU thread as opposed to simply increasing the number of tanks we supply daily. It will also amplify the amount of P/H among membership, a key factor in establishing EZC as the most badass MU in this game.

2: The general public may benefit from learning a few tricks. In my mind, everything we do is obvious. But I've been playing eRep for over 3 years, and perhaps for some of my readers a light bulb will go on that will help them make their MU a better place to play.

3: Running the commune for EZC is a trust. I want to be accountable to Fed leadership, EZC leadership, EZC Captains, and every soldier who proudly wears the EZC uniform (the baddest ass MU uniform in the eUSA I might add.) And because we are open (when we have space) to citizens from all walks of life, I want to us to be somewhat accountable to you, the American public. (Incedentally, this and this do not qualify as "walks of life", so let's just not go there.

To that end, I present the following:

Easy Company has roughly 195 commune workers, about 160 of which work nearly every single day. Of the other 35, I can usually count on half showing up. So this gives me roughly 175 worker clicks to assign.

Among my holdings are 14 Q7 Weapons Factories, 2 Q5 and 1 Q6 Food Factories, a few dozen Rubber Plants, and a ton of Saltpeter Mines. We also make use of a Q7 Weapons Factory owned by one of our senior members, in part so that I have a place to work too, but also as an early stage of diversification which we hope will ensure the longevity of EZC far into the future.

At the current bonus level, each Q7 factory requires a supply of 32,000 WRM for an output of 160 tanks. Multiply that by 15. In addition, WAM (Work As Manager) for these companies consumes 48,000 WRM producing 240 extra Q7 tanks. So EZC currently converts 528,000 WRM into 2640 tanks every day.

What would 528,000 WRM cost? In the most nightmare scenario of having to just purchase the entire pile, and at today's market price, it would cost $31,680 every day. But we do not purchase that many WRM.

Instead, we have EZC Commune "heroes" who donate clicks and WRM to the EZC Commune system every single day. This is not rocket science. It is a system I first learned about when I was a Captain in the SF.

We have two kinds of heroes.

Firstly there are those who WAM companies owned by EZC. These heroes are epic Federalists and retired EZC Brass who have abandoned the meta game but who remain active in the Federalist Party Forum and contribute to our community in other ways. (Admittedly, one of these heroes is also my daughter who, as a homeschooled student plays eRepublik for Mathmatics and English (if only you all knew how many of your articles she has corrected for spelling, grammar, and usage...).

Secondly there are those heroes who WAM companies which they themselves own. These heroes have opted to forsake the cash reward of selling their daily production in favor of benefiting the awesomeness of Easy Company.

In total, we have over 15 heroes who produce as much as 160,000 WRM daily.

(How do our Heroes donate their WRM production? It is simple. They post their daily production for sale, someone from our commune system purchases the offer, then the cash spent on the purchase is donated back to the buyer. Eventually all of the RM makes it to me.)

Need to take a breathe before I continue?

Now you see what I meant when I said that the advent of Q7 weaponry made WRM the single biggest factor in equipping an MU. Commune workers cannot be put to use producing WRM in Rubber factories. That is economic suicide compared to the value which can be had from that worker click elsewhere. (Perhaps the Q7 was Plato's attempt to mitigate RM overproduction. It did this for a while, but the gold-buying public has caught up to him and WRM are currently worth only about twice what FRM is worth.)

Sometimes WRM can be purchased for less than current market rate. This requires that someone follow the micro fluctuations in the market (which are really just individual players looking to sell off a penny cheaper so they get their cash ASAP.) By maintaining a foreign residence, I am able to watch two markets (unless RL has me busy, which with a wife, three kids, and a full time job IT DOES often) at once, doubling my odds of finding cheaper WRM. Get a few heroes to volunteer to do this as well and you've extended your web of bargain hunters, all of which positively impacts your bottom line.

I look for any angle to save a dime or a dollar. Sometimes I purchase WRM from the black market, saving .005 per unit. While this is a negligible amount at smaller volume, I can sometimes find a seller unloading hundreds of thousands of WRM this way. 200,000 WRM purchased at a half-penny discount amounts to $1,000 saved for that day, which eventually translates into an additional 75 tanks available for EZC.

N.B. Only work with trusted buyers/sellers. And no, unfortunately I am too busy to answer your inquiries about who the thieves are. But I will say this: I have not yet been swindled.

Where do I get all this cash?

Simple. I sell off some of my Q7 production. Actually, I typically sell off close to half of it. On days I am too busy I use the standard weapons market which pays the least. Other days I sell to black market buyers who will pay between .1 and .3 above what the market offers (post VAT). Other days I offer tanks to EZC members for the same price I am getting from the black market buyers, turning me into a black market seller I suppose. I try to make as much money as I can.

At the end of the day (which is almost never at the actual end of the day) I calculate how much I spent, I figure out how many tanks I need to sell to pay for that, and I donate the remainder to the EZC Quartermaster Harry W. Hill who is unarguably the greatest QM this game has ever seen. (Side note: HWH is a RL descendant of the RL Harry W. Hill. Very cool story from a very awesome eRep citizen).

The goal at EZC Communes was to provide enough weapons for each soldier so that they can at least achieve their Daily Order with all Q7 weaponry. We have observed that 8 Q7 tanks does this almost every time. We have accomplished this.

The breaking news in this article is that as of this time, we are producing more than enough Q7 tanks to supply 8 Q7 tanks per soldier.

Our glorious CO Deepchill, his 2nds stewy and bigcdizzle, and Harry W. Hill have recently begun conversations about what to do with the burgeoning surplus. When all of the math has been factored, expect some news.

Have I spent my RL money in this game?

Yes. And my reward for it is the daily pride of watching EZC soldiers from every division rack up kill after kill after kill. We don't have a minimum damage requirement because we are not interested in competing with the eUS Government for the Big Dog Goldbeasts. They belong in a Government MU.

We just want to run the kickest ass MU in this game which, at its best still kicks some ass all its own.

Now when you see this:

You'll understand why this band of amazing soldiers will stick up for each other more fiercely than any other MU in this game. We are PROUD and HORNY about who we are.
