CoT
The Circle of Trust alliance is a group of individual countries founded after Bulgaria and Chile left EDEN and TERRA. Today it is the other half of the world and one of the main belligerents of World War VI vs TWO.
Canada has recently joined CoT, giving us no consideration or any discussion that has been made public. There was no vote, and the main populace was all very quiet about the whole thing. One thing that surprised me was the complete backing by the CPF, mainly because of the political points that Auk Rest was trying to gain by slamming IBB’s request for Lelouch to support IBB in the election in order to keep DMV3 from winning. Not only did Lelouch pull out of the race halfway through, he threw his support behind DMV3 in the end. I find this highly suspicious, and given the fact that DMV3 ran under the CRP party, whose past party president isn’t generally known for being particularly friendly towards the CPF.
And now, with clear warning, our current “president” *ahem* cough dictator, had declared that we are now a member of CoT, and that our opinion doesn’t matter because we elected him to make decisions on our behalf. There are plenty of problems with this.
1. Not considering the opinions of the public means that the decision was made behind closed doors and was fully meant not to consider the public opinions of the public. DMV3’s sudden entry into Canada and then even more sudden run for president probably means that he entered at someone’s command, maybe to gather support for the US or maybe just for the lulz. Either way we end up as the USA’s bitch for them to command where our damage will fall (for what it’s worth.)
2. CoT may not be our best option in terms of long-term survival. We recently just gained independence (at the greater cost of our treasury) and have some regions that provide some bonuses, and was enough to gain us a congress so that we could modify our taxes to reflect realistic rates. If we openly join the alliance opposing TWO in the war, then what will become of our newfound (and expensive) independence?
3. CoT is losing. Let’s face it, the majority of the world is dominated by TWO forces. Once dominant nations have lost under the united flags of the aptly named “The World is Ours.” And the world is theirs. What are we thinking?
TWO
TWO dominates the world (as mentioned above) and probably has more fun about it than we do fighting them. Their constant domination is only rivaled by a couple CoT nations, namely Chile, Paraguay, etc. down in the south who are fighting against Argentina. And they're losing.
So one nation has been able to survive on open opposition to the TWO world.
Hey! If they can do it, damn sure we can too!
Think again. We’re an underdog, the lower of the nations with a population hardly big enough to prick even Lithuania’s ass with a thorn.
TWO is a very well formulated and large enough alliance, big enough to completely dominate the world like a hound dominates a bitch. So why are we fighting it? We only have our regions because Spain took pity on us and (rightfully) realized that they could make more profit of us Canada by releasing her and demanding many of our tax dollars. I’m not saying we should give up and completely abandon our fight against the oppressors. I’m completely for the revolutionary cause, but at the moment I believe that the solution to our grievances isn’t simply shoving a BB gun in Spain’s face and shooting them in the cheek in open defiance (also known as joining CoT).
Other Options
Believe it or not, there are other options out in the world. Not only are there a couple different alliances in the world, but they are fighting completely different battles and wars that seem to be taking no effect in the western world. Why can’t we join those? Why can’t we declare that we are no longer taking part in the war against TWO and join up somewhere else? We can still have MPPs and alliances within the alliances, but if we balance our involvements enough both ways, then Spain might reconsider our potential takeover. Essentially, joining anyone other than CoT could be even more beneficial to our long-term survival. MPP battles would be the only way we fight TWO, and we could fight our own battles in the pacific.
Why We Need To Wait
So what is the current best possible way of continuing along our hard and rocky path? I say we sit down on the side of the road and consider which path looks the less bloody.
Omg!!! No blood means no fun! I want to fight battles! Hail Canada!
Shut up noob.
sometimes the best possible plan of action comes after careful consideration and waiting patiently until all of the possible options have been considered. Last time we rushed into an alliance cough cough ASGARD, we gained absolutely nothing and lost all of our regions for 8 months, causing the greater majority of our population to run away (including myself). So, unless we want to have a repeat of the 8 month depression, and the 1 month even greater depression where we had no congress to manage taxes, I suggest and strongly know we should
Wait.
This.
Out.
On a side note, I’m running this time as official candidate for CW CP elections.
CB for CP!

Article VI: Congressional Transparency
1. In order to maintain communication with the citizens of eCanada while maintaining security of sensitive information Congress shall be divided into two sections: Open Door Congress which is viewable by all Canadians and Closed Door Congress which is not viewable to the general public.
2. No citizen may view or post in Closed Door Congress aside from elected Congressmen, the Country President, and any other appointed Government officials. All information in Closed Door Congress is considered classified and any individual who reproduces any of its content will be temporarily banned from Congress and may have this ban made permanent pending a Congressional vote.
3. Subjects to be included in Closed Door Congress may include but are not limited to:
a) new alliances;
b) strategic defense system and hospital placement;
c) declarations of war and peace proposals;
d) war strategy, attacks, and battles;
e) any other information deemed to be of a classified nature.
you keep pointing that out but it is undeniable in the past that alliance discussions have taken the form of articles, surveys and referendums
no one is wrong and no one is right but theres a way to have everyone involved
I think in the case of Corrigan I posted it because I fear he doesn't know it exists 🙁
I agree though, there certainly could be more transparency in terms of this move. I see it though as we are a trial member, not a full member, which I think a number of people are missing. In order for us to actually join the CoT alliance, the CoT Council will have to vote us in again. I don't see why we cannot do the same at the end of the 3 month trial membership.
We are driving the car, but we certainly haven't bought it yet.
Argentina is part of TWO or TWO leaning while its CoT that is fighting Argentina.
noted. fixed.
CB, I will point out a few things you got wrong. First Argentina is not in CoT and isn't even alligned with CoT. Secondly, joining CoT was something we talked with the Spanish about and I was told that as long as we do not break the NAP we are free to do what we please in regards to foreign policy.
The reason the alliance discussion did not take place in ODC is because by there very nature FA discussions are sensitive and are not something we want our enemies to have access to. I understand you have an issue with the fact a referrendum was not put forward, but it's not required under the Constitution or CRoO.
Beleive it or not I know a thing about war strategy and diplomacy, and I am happy to say I currently have good relations with the US and Spanish governments. I will continue to work hard to ensure Canada is safe from invasion and to make sure we build good relationship with nations that will be good friends to us.
I'd like to fart. Can I or do I have to clear it with Spain first?
You may! It's not a matter of clearing things with Spain it's more a matter of keeping them in the loop and making sure we're both on the same page.
As architects of our eight month annihilation and continued occupationists, maybe we can stop sacrificing our pride as a nation with consistent bended knee behaviour as if that will fend off Spain any more than our active resistance did. Spain will do whatever it wishes to do and placating behaviour will not change that. We may have been an occupied country but at least we had our pride as a nation. Now we act like we are a nation of two masters. It's not the Canadian way.
Maybe it's the American way. Who knows.
the enemies would have to be masked as Canadians on the forum to see anything at all, and are good admin Goran is keeping the bad guys out so why not show the good people with ODC
The eCan Community group is an open group that anyone can join. We implemented it purely as an anti-spambot measure.
My point being that it isn't a safe and secure place when it comes to showing sensitive material
duly noted, fixed.
I'd love to how CPF became so buddy-buddy with the USA so quickly. Has this relationship always been there and never drawn upon during our occupation or does the CPF get some kind of kick back for supporting a USA leader? The CDC would be interesting, but I'd bet the leadership messages of the CPF for the last month would be even more interesting.
Strange that a party professing itself to hold the ideals of a clean and fair CANADIAN government should do such a 180 with back room deals and secret discussions with USA leadership. What is this administration hiding that they are too scared to reveal and thump upon the laws used to protect our country as a justification for their undemocratic actions?
DMV is not even in the CPF I'm pretty sure the US government does not hold meeting with foreign political parties.
The CPF is not, and has not had any relations with the US government. I really don't know how you got your head up your ass so far, but congratulations none the less...
So the CPF just blindly dropped their own candidate and supported an individual that had barely been in Canada for a week? That's terrifyingly incompetent, but thank you for clearly that up.
Lelouch had an incident at work, informed us of the issue, and said he would not be able to fulfill the duties of being CP. Thus we wanted a CP candidate who is active and involved. We agreed that DMV3 was in our best interest. DMV was not in Canada for the many months he tried to free Canada, yet you never suggested we refuse his help, so why the change now?
Reverse it. I'm an MU Commander who has been actively selecting USA fights to build up our alliance with the USA for over a year. That makes me qualified or trusted in the USA as there CP how? Good apples don't make good oranges. Your party put either trust in someone you don't really know and subjected Canada to a seriously precarious slope.
Wow you're a MU Commander? Want a banana sticker? I don't see any rules stating that someone must spend at least 47 days as a Canadian Citizen, publish 12 articles in our media, be involved in at least 3 litres of cabinets and have one BH medal for Canada.
He has the resume, and is doing a pretty good job so far, I don't know why you are making such a big deal out of him being an American. I fear your dislike for him is not patriotism, rather the lack of it. I can't say we are in a horrible desperate situation right now. That may change of course, because you know, it's a game right.
Lastly, what is this precarious slope you speak of? Give me some solid points of how Canada as a whole is dying because of DMV
Foxfire, you're assuming because you didn't know me that others did not know me. I did much more than fight for Canada or direct my troops to fight for Canada. I helped build relations between the US and Canada, I help coordinate war efforts, and when asked I helped move Canadian communes into the US for bonuses. I have done much to help Canada whenever I was asked and even when I was not. Your assumption that I only fought for Canada is wrong, the fact is I have interacted with the Canadian community for months and I fell in love with Canada.
Now this good sir, I object too. You cannot put the actions of one player on an entire party.
Would you like to see our leadership messages? I can assure you they are pretty uneventful, albeit boring... So lastly, I ask what proof do you have that we have been conspiring with the US government? And no, EPD does not count 😉
Not sure what's more terrifying. That the CPF planned to drop their own candidate and support an individual relatively unknown to the majority of Canada, or that the CPF just didn't think at all and dropped their own candidate to support an individual relatively unknown to the majority of Canada.
Time to take those blinders off gentlemen. Strangling the party line isn't going to make this one go away. There is some explaining to do because the stakes of events that followed for the individual you ultimately choose to support are way to damn high.

What I dont understand is how COT will help us or the states with our Spain situation.
eUSA made it blindingly clear that they will NOT ever fight eSpain.
eSpain is their friend and ally.
Neither attacks each other and both work together...
See when the USA was being invaded in the giant rush.. eSpain got in deep trouble for sitting out of the battle because they didnt want to ruin their relationship.
Now we are sucking up to the states... to what? They cant help us and wont help us get rid of eSpain...
Its a waste for us to blow so much time and resources into a country that doesnt care about us in the slightest!
Thank you CB for bringing this out into the light
Were you paying attention last week when Mexico and Spain NE'd each other? This would of eventually lead to a USA, Spanish war for sure. Unfortunately for us, this war was later downgraded to a training war. Things can happen very quickly in this game.
Of course the USA has not supported us in the past. We are the party that screwed up our relationship with them, not the other way around. We have a better chance of getting our regions back with US support then without is my opinion.
USA screwed up it relationship with us and many others who to this day don't care about it or help it.
for once i'm actually agreeing with Rylde
you have an interesting opinion. I will withhold mine until I have a clear understanding of how things work
This is rather long...but my name is explained in the Glossary of Terms so ALRIGHT.
Ya, alright. Agree with some, disagree with others
This is a very good article CB. My own efforts later tonight are to expose the backroom deals and votes of 8 PEOPLE behind closed doors that has radically changed our FA policy from the last month. I warned you all about the selfishness of the Usurper but you all laughed and pointed at me.
/me points at Leo
/me high-fives Leo
Leo you plan for us joining TWO was just in your imagination.
There was no 'plan' not like Dennis' plan to maneuver us into CoT with NO public consultation anyway. There was an idea that perhaps our allegiances were misplaced these days and a change in allies could make a difference. I have never espoused full membership in TWO.
I thought I was only in it for the medal? Can you make up your mind about me already so I can continue to prove you wrong?
Your motivation was for the medal. Your handlers is something far more nefarious. Also, you have proved nothing.
Leo, if you believe I have handlers you're more foolish than I would have suspected.
I don't know about "handlers" but you espoused getting into CoT as quickly as we did because Oblige thought it was a good idea so you jumped at the chance.
Muglack, that is oversimplifying the situation and we both know it.
Well my handlers and I were informed we had no chance of getting into CoT at this time and we would have to wait for us to rebuild trust for a time. Then DMV's handlers told him we had a opportunity now. Then DMV told congress of this change in attitude. Then Muglack and his handlers quickly agreed to proceeed My handlers seeing that even Muglack's handlers had agreed it must be a good idea. At this point my handlers and me decided to support it despite my initial hesitation.
E D, you almost made me piss myself with that last post. ROFL!
The whole time I was CP all I heard was "Why are we in Asgard? They can't do anything for us. We should be in CoT". Now the CP gets eCan trial membership and everyone is up in arms.
Good to see things haven't changed.
8 months of it built up, want to fight about it?
