[Derphoof for CP] The Wise Choice

Regular readers of 16 Shells should probably have their heads examined know that political endorsements in this paper are very few and far between. Without taking the time to look back through the archives, I’d guess that over the roughly 110 C/P election cycles this paper has been in circulation during, I’ve maybe published a total of 10 endorsement articles. And that includes my own campaigns.


So yeah, I don’t do this very often.



But sometimes I do, when the campaign itself merits it. Ask around. I’ve been asked to publish endorsements many times. If asked, I almost never do (my single regret in this category is my horrifyingly bad endorsement of Cromstar for CP).



No, I write endorsements when the circumstances of the election itself is compelling enough to inspire me to set aside my RL work for an hour and type me out some eRep.



This is such an election.







If you are more than 10% tuned in, you know that the Derphoof administration has been a catalyst for long, slow change. Much needed change. But charting a new course takes time.







Generally speaking, the larger the ship, the wider the arc of turning. Small ships can turn quickly and be back up to cruising speed in no time. Large ships have to cut a swath that slows them down. Eventually engines can fully power them back up to cruising speed in a new direction.



eUSA is completing its turn. Under Derphoof - and I confess that I did not see this coming - eUSA has finally charted a new course after several years in the same direction.



Often referred to as the “Wild Owl Doctrine”, eUSA’s last change in direction came under the leadership of Wild Owl who slowly and deliberately charted a new course in eUS Foreign Affairs several years ago. I know that some of you didn’t like the new course, but Wild Owl worked for many months on it, and his influence endured for years.



Derphoof is the first eUS President to make a major adjustment in direction. Perhaps there have been previous Presidents who have wanted to, but they lacked the global gravitas and the length of tenure to do anything about it.







Derphoof has maximum global gravitas. This is an undisputible truth. At one time it was thought among the eRep community that Derp perhaps lacked what it takes to be CP, but dayum he sure does make a fantastic Minister of Foreign Affairs. That is why he has been selected as Secretary of State on and off for years. Derphoof is respected globally around eRepublik.











But I had no idea that he was such a capable leader. Be honest, did you even see this coming?



Look. I’ve been a participating contributor to nearly every presidential cabinet since friggin’ Emerick. Or so. I’ve seen crap and I’ve seen the experts. Sit me down over a beer some time and I’ll start talking (just ask Melissa Rose about this... Beer + Gnilraps = lingual activity).



God, I love writing stuff like that.



Here’s what I’ve observed about the Derphoof Cabinets and “PDB’s”. Everything gets handled that needs to get handled. There’s no wasted fluff. Nearly every post matters (except for some posts which contain nothing more than the redundant “Present”... nothing to blame on the Executive there…)




In short, this has been the most efficient and error-free administration on record. I challenge my fellow oldfgs to think of a more smoothly run and mistake-free administration which has accomplished more bigtime change than these past few months with Derphoof. Yes, there are probably a few contenders, but IMO Derphoof takes the crown.








And so I am wholeheartedly, unabashedly, and full-fervently… feverishly even… endorsing Derphoof for Country President once more.



He is the only candidate this month who has firmly established international credibility.

He is the best candidate this month to lay the final cement on our new national direction.

He is the most charismatic writer and leader among all candidates this month.

He is the only candidate (so far) to get specific about his domestic plans.

And he’s very rainbow suave.
