Working as Manager, for fun and profit

Working as Manager, for fun and profit.

Employees are expensive. At the time of writing, I am paying each of my employees $275 per shift. This is more than the value of pretty much anything they can produce, unless you happen to have a Q7 weapon factor (in which case, you don’t need to read this article).

Fortunately, you don’t have to have employees, because you can work as manager – for the low cost of 10 Energy (and your work tax of $2.1😎. This is a much better deal than $275.

Here is how some of the numbers work out:
Grain Farm (Costs $1500). Will earn $2.06 per day, and pay for itself in 730 days.
Fruit Orchard (Costs $3000). Will earn $7.29 per day, and pay for itself in 411 days.
Fishery (Costs 10 Gold - $4,820). Will earn $15.52 per day, and pay for itself in 311 days.
Cattle Farm (Costs $8,500). Will earn $23 per day, and pay for itself in 370 days.
Hunting Lodge (Costs 35 Gold - $16,870). Will earn $34.22 per day, and pay for itself in 493 days.

Q1 Food (Costs 10 Gold - $4,820). Will earn $22 per day, and pay for itself in 220 days.
Q2 Food (Costs 30 Gold - $14,460). Will earn $47 per day, and pay for itself in 308 days.
Higher quality has a longer ROI.

If you look at the above numbers, the fastest ROI is owning a Q1 Food company (and buying your Food RM, rather than making them yourself). Those "starter" Farms will take two years to earn back that $1500 you spent on them - and that depends on selling you Food RMs. Owning a factory also has the advantage of providing you with a product that you always need – you don’t necessarily have to worry about selling your food, you can just eat it. The money you earn from your day job (and overtime), can be used to buy the RMs and to expand your business empire.

Assumptions for above calculations:
Dollars per Gol😛 $482
Dollars per Food RM: $7.48
Dollars per 10 Energy: $1 (5 Q1 food, priced at $0.2 per unit)
Work Tax: $2.18
RM and Food Bonus of 200%, No pollution.

Before buying your first factory, you'll need to pick a region to place your holding company. You'll need to look at bonuses and pollution. This changes regularly, so I can't recommend any one region. It costs money to move things after you place them, so this is important to research.
