Welcome to Congress Prelude
Dariuswolff
You have made it through an election and have become, for better or worse, a Congress Person. Congratulations for surviving the initial hurdles, you have taken you first steps.
Recap of how you got here.
Your party, in this case, the SFP (Socialist Freedom Party), held a call for Congress. You registered your intent to run for congress in the venues provided. You filled out a form expressing your intent to run, and you were one of many wonderful people who responded to the call of your party and your country to devote a brief time in service to the nation.
Congressional candidate voting and ranking.
We held a caucus after the deadline to file your intent to run as a candidate. The caucus was strictly in party and your name was entered with all of the other members who decided to run for office.
The party as a whole was asked to vote for a maximum of 5 members whom they wanted to see seated in office. The rankings were weighted by the number of votes to determine the order of your own ranking. If for some reason, and there are many reasons, you or another member had no votes cast for you, the senior party members placed your ranking on the list in order of seniority and adjusted for the number of times you have attended congress. Preference was given to members of the party who have never attended congress. This is done to ensure our party gives a chance to attend congress while relatively inexperienced, yet our delegation still being represented by many senior members.
Election day.
On election day, citizens cast their ballots for their choice of party. There being a total of 53 slots in congress at this time, each party was allocated seats according to the number of votes they garnered in the election.
The slate.
Remember that list of candidates? Well, we started at the top of that list and worked our way down the list until we had filled all the congressional seat slots we were awarded in the election.
This ends the Prelude to Congress.
Next, what to expect.
