War - The Basics

Day 519, 16:40 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by eUK Home Office

War and the military is very briefly covered in the Citizen Memorandum but I would like to expand on some of that here.

War

Only the Country President can propose a declaration of war. This is voted on in-game (as apposed to a House of Commons vote on the forums, although any such action would, in the eUK, be heavily discussed in the Commons before such a proposal is made in-game).

A declaration is different from an attack. If you view the army page active wars list you’ll notice most of them have inactive battles. The war may be declared by a country but the battle has yet to be commenced. A country may have a war with no battles and then sign a peace treaty with no fight.

Declaration

A declaration costs 200G plus 10% of the population of citizens able to fight (those above level 5 – level at which you are able to fight) from the attacking country. The eUK has a population of 7500, if an estimated 1000 is taken off for those under level 5 (it could be much more than that, however, there is no way to tell how many are over level 5), that is a total of 850G to declare war.

Battles

Once the war is declared each battle is initiated by the Country President. To attack a single region it costs 50G plus 25% of the population where the battle is to take place. A single region is able to be involved in more than one battle – however, if conquered, the first attacker takes the region.

The battle focuses around the defence wall. The attacker chips away and the defender adds to it. The initial, starting size of the wall is worked out by multiplying the population of the region where the battle takes place by 100 and then incorporating the Q of the defence system in that region (if any).

Win/Lose

To win or lose, 24 hours must pass. Once past if the wall is over that initial size calculated above that region is safely defended. If, however, the wall is below 0, the region is lost to the attacker. If it is in between the fight continues

If a region is conquered any defence system or hospital is destroyed. The attacker will also take a % of the country’s gold and local currency (how much is worked out using this formula - 100/number of regions – so in the UK, just over 8😵.

Fighting

There are a number of conditions: -
- you need to be over level 5 and,
- have over 40 wellness

You lose 10 wellness per fight and gain 2 experience points as well as increasing you total force. Use the address below (link won't work) in bold to get a fight calculator to work out what damage you would do.

http://www.cccp-group.org/index.php?page=erep_fightcalc

Only once you have fought you can use a hospital. You can only use a hospital once a day. You do not need to a weapon to fight, however, you do considerably more damage with one that without. They only last for one fight regardless of their Q. The higher the Q weapon, the more damage you do.

Ideally you fight smart. Please read this article which explains this very well, it is important for both you and those for whom you fight.

MPPs

Mutual Protection Pacts cost 30G a month from both countries to maintain. They are only activated once an original region of the country with which there is an alliance experiences a battle. Eg for the UK one our regions that we currently own (which are all original) must be attacked. If we were to conquer France and a country attacked one of those conquered regions, our allies could not assist as the MPP would not be triggered.

Once triggered, an ally can fight from his home country. Eg is Florida was attacked (an ally of our currently) we could help from here without moving to the US.

Resistance Wars

This occurs when a conquered region rises up against it’s conquerors. It costs the same as initiating a battle as above, and is the same in all respects except one. Anyone may initiate it.

Retreat, Peace

An attacking region may retreat or sign a peace treaty with the defender (which can be proposed by either side’s Country President only).

Army

The eUK has two branches of the army – the Royal Guard (commanding Officer Horice P Fossil), Royal Navy (CO thehorseltd). The elite section of the Royal Navy is the Paratroopers (CO HexXA). To join the paras you must do at least 130 damage with 100 wellness and a Q5 weapon. Use the calculator above to find your damage.

To join any of these branches of our armed forces, you must go to the forums.

The guards are the defensive arm while navy and paras offensive/defensive and are more fulltime in their work, often being abroad as and where needed while the guards remain in the UK.

eUK Helpline

Please ask here if you have any questions relating to any of the above or concerning any other aspect of eUK or eRepublik.

Many thanks to Horice P Fossil and Iain Keers for their assistance.
