Day 667, 13:13 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by bowen199

Political debates have been as fierce as they have ever been here in the eUK. In essence it has been a battle of the old vs the new, where the new demands change and old unwillingly to relinquish their grip on the country.

The old guard
The old guard are the elite of eUK politics many of which hold power as ministers, Lords and members of Team EUK. They are experienced players who have been handed power by their predecessors and have used their power to acquire wealth and the influence to keep themselves in power.

Congress
Congress is generally made up of idealistic working men and women hoping to make changes for the good of their fellow citizens. Often only heard of beta and served fewer than 3 terms in congress.

The old guard vs Congress
After the last congress elections several elected anti-PEACE congress members were denied access to the commons forums due to allegations of being spies. After some lobbying they were allowed full access to the commons. However, members of the old guard callously withheld all sensitive information because of potential leaks and the threat of the enemy knowing all our secrets. To the dismay of the other member of congress, leaving many disgruntled and feeling ineffectual. As a result, congress then turned on themselves misplacing blame on each other, unable to play a role in the shaping of our society. Surely thought the people’s views were been represented in the eUK’s decisions? Or were they the views of the oligarchy?

Congress vs HoL
Albeit, many countries do not have Lords to govern the actions of congress, the eUK irrationally undermines congress with narrow minded self serving ‘politicians’. Many members of the HoL are very inactive and apathetic compared with some of the newer talented players who often beat HoL members in congress elections. Current legislation bizarrely requires 2/3 of congress to vote in favour of removing an appointed member of Lords who unaccountably select their own members. Nevertheless, with the recent proposal to appoint RoadRunnerSpeed who stole from the country’s treasury infuriated congress who over-ruled the HoL by achieving the 66% of votes needed. Realising the dangers of leaving the HoL in power members of congress decided to disband the superficial ruling arm of the old guard previously known as Lords. Unwillingly to accept defeat the ex-Lords hurriedly place averts seeking sympathy and support from members of congress and the general public. They also unanimously voted to overrule the democratically elected members of congress’ decision. They also went as far as bribing congress members with membership to the HoL in exchange for their support. The HoC, however voted again to dispose of the HoL. Due to the bureaucracy that ensures that the HoL has the opportunity to use their influence to sway proposals, they also voted against congress’ decision again. However, it is the final vote that will count. No more Lords!

The aftermath
Many sympathisers of the old guard have now resorted to forming their own strong party: FDP. There has also been a proposal to reform the HoL taking away voting privileges.

”Between capitalist and communist society there lies the period of the revolutionary transformation of the one into the other. Corresponding to this is also a political transition period in which the state can be nothing but the revolutionary dictatorship of the proletariat.” K. Marx.

Change is always inevitable, and those who oppose change will always lose. I have no qualms with those in power. They are still however accountable to the people, and for those who feel exempted be warned you will be opposed.
