BOURGEOIS LEADERSHIP IS FAILING US!

To hell with military tactics that rely only on taking selfies of giants.
Insist on a broad-based proletarian resistance strategy.

Follow the example of the Bear Cavalry! --

* Play HAVOC with the Croation occupiers. Make them cry.

* Support allied and friendly fighters around the world.

* Set the e-world ablaze with anti-CODE combat at every level.

* Refuse to accept the CODE domination. It is always better to resist.

* Coordinate your attacks. Arm and strengthen all your active militia members.

LONG LIVE FREEDOM! DEATH TO ROMPERISM!

The Bear Cavalry militia is neither the largest militia in the eUSA nor the one with most giant tanks.

But with good leadership coming from veteran fighters like Shiloh13, hcmadman and Pilot Phil, the "BC" has a really fun time creating buckets of Croat tears all over the new world.

About the Bears

One of the longest-standing militias in the eUSA, forged in steel during a time of crisis and occupation, the Bear Cavalry was created by SFP members before militias were even a part of an official game mechanic. Way back around Day 650-ish, they were already working with similar groups like The Minutemen, Free Phoenix Black Ops, P.O.T.A.T.O.E., the Templar Knights and eNOVA to drive out the PEACE alliance occupiers.

And for all the years since then, the BC has always promoted and supported...
- The use of clear-cut battle orders.
- Good communications.
- Energy and weapons for all members who need them.
- Support for all players fighting occupation and dictatorship.
- During times of occupation, coordination with other resistance fighters, both nationally and internationally.
- And a wide range of tactics that includes economic warfare and relentless resistance propaganda and agitation.

As noted by Phoenix Quinn on Day 1550, "The war cry of the Bear Cavalry is Ursa Fi!, which can be loosely translated as 'Yeah, you're pretty much f****d when the Bear Cavalry rides down on your a**!'".

This long legacy of people-powered resistance still drives the Bear Cavalry spirit today.

If you want to be part of this legendary fighting unit, apply to join the Bear Cavalry!

By the way, there is no need to be an SFP member to join the BC. The SFP loves the BC. But there is not any official connection between the Party and this militia. Plenty of non-SFP folks are in the BC, and likewise plenty of non-BC folks are in the SFP.

STRATEGY: Notes On Having a Strategic Commanders

The Communists Have the Music -- They Might Be Giants

"I don't need a rationale to listen to the Internationale."

Here are some more notes on how to defeat an imperial power and not capitulate to it.

The focus is on how to develop strategic commanders.

POINT ONE - Having A Revolutionary Perspective

To paraphrase the immortal Fred Hampton...

e-Power is anywhere where there's people. e-Power is anywhere where there's people.

Let me give you an example of teaching people. Basically, the way they learn is observation and participation. You know a lot of us go around and joke ourselves and believe that the masses of players have PhDs. But that's not true. And even if they did, it wouldn't make any difference. Because with some things, you have to learn by seeing it or participating in it.

You know that there are people walking around your e-community today that have all types of degrees that should be helping to lead the resistance but are not involved. Right? Because you can have as many degrees as a thermometer. If you don't have any practice, then you can't walk across the street and chew gum at the same time.

What distinguishes strategic commanders from merely tactial ones?

Despite different particularities, it's their ability and desire to address the biggest questions of social revolution before, during and after the cutover to proletarian power.

It's their need to understand evidence-based scientific methods to assess and evaluate ever changing e-reality, to be able to sort out complex problems, and to rank and prioritize them correctly. Being strategic means proceeding from lofty objectives and working back from that to figure out what needs to be done at any given time.

An illiterate peasant in a 3rd world country, or an unschooled basic person from the inner cities of the world can be trained to be a strategic commander and not just a tactical commander (or a “movement activist”). You don’t have to be formally trained as an intellectual to be bright, engaged, curious about all sorts of things, to able to think and play on lots of different levels, with lots of different elements.

And you don’t have to be a PhD to learn the basics of what's wrong with the e-world and what can be done about it, including -- and maybe especially -- during times of crisis and occupation.

So that's the first point. We don't have to rely on armchair experts. When you have a sense of the methods, approach and objectives of completely transforming the New World, when you're eager to do it, and have some passion, substance, determination, conviction -- and a good sense of humor about it doesn't hurt either -- you can become a strategic commander.

POINT TWO - They Might be Giants, Or Not

Individualism comes in two main flavors -- virulent and oblivious.

Virulent individualism is the more poisonous variation. It’s the view that “I’m out to get everything I can for myself and f*ck everybody else. If I have to trample on everybody else to get what I want, too bad for you.” In eRepublikan terms, this is the kind of player (and faux "leader") who only cares about their own scores and cares nothing for either the nation and the worldwide e-proletarian renaissance.

Oblivious individualism has less aggressive characteristics. It often does not even include a consciously hostile attitude toward other players. It involves going along pursuing one’s particular interests, aspirations, rewards, without paying any attention to the larger things going on in the e-world and the effect of this on the happiness and joy of masses of players throughout the new world.

While obviously there are gradations between these two types, an obsession with self is their unifying theme.

The popular obsession with "selfies" is an expression of the kind of garbage ideology that grows in the soil of individualism. Not that all "selfies" are bad. It's more like those folks who go to some incredibly moving, beautiful natural setting and instead of sharing that vast beauty, or simply taking it in, they take an idiotic picture of themselves messing it up.

It's the “look at me, look at me, look at me” ethos that is predominant in both these forms of individualism, even in the one that’s not consciously virulent but is nevertheless strikingly oblivious.

When players have every opportunity to learn about and to engage the larger e-world but -- either with a malignant mentality, or in a more benign way -- choose not to pay attention to it, that's the foundation for losing sight of how to be a strategic leader.

It's not that watching some video or whatever of cats playing the violin makes you a bad person. (And we could say a good deal more about the dangers created by both right-wingers and faux "leftists" who like to or purposely assume that "controlling the narrative" is more important than developing strategic leadership.) But if such things are the main preoccupation -- if snark and tearing down other players is the preoccupation -- then this is something to be concerned about.

In our game world, when a military strategy is focussed entirely on "giants" effectively taking "selfies" of themselves, a successful anti-occupation, anti-imperialist military strategy is unlikely to emerge.

POINT THREE - Enemies Within

Whenever a serious locus for strategic proletarian command and resistance begins to emerge, in whatever context or platform, bourgeois societies will generate vicious agents to attack it.

Given the current RL political situation, this means that outright Nazis and other far-right groypers are likely to try to intervene in eRepublik in order to attack "commies" and so forth.

Decent and honest players should be clear about this.

Such attacks are both counter-productive in game terms, sowing dissent and confusion, turning attention away from straegic concerns. And they are poisonous in social terms as well. The intent of such interventions is to create a "culture" in which everyone who is not on-board with the far-right agenda is attacked as "traitors to the race", "commies", "weak", and so on.

Since the big orange turd was moved out of the White House, we've seen multiple RL examples in the USA of such trash calling for "Death to Democrats", referring to "liberals" as "demons" who should be exterminated, and so on and so forth.

Whether you support the Bear Cavalry, the Socialist Freedom Party and similar gaming styles in eRepublik or not, players should be on the lookout for these fascists. When they attack "the commies", they are are attacking all honest working folk, artists, players and soldiers.

No surrender! Forward to the Protracted Peoples War!
