Reflections on Elitism
Bohemond4
Arriving, stumbling, into the complex, large, bright, harsh world of the eUK I remember blinking as I tried to figure out what the heck I was supposed to do. The first article I read slammed the so-called elitism of the establishment, so, I decided to figure out what this was all about. Entering the wild, wonderful world of the forums I sought answers to my questions. Where TUP really that bad? Where they elitist? Why did the map of eUK have Canadians and French all over it? By the end of my second day I had found out the answers to all of these questions, and much, much more. I had entered a community.
For a new player, TUP can easily appear the Big Bad Wolf of the nation, the one that is evil and created all ills in eUK. A party who takes, and feeds, on their young for the old. A real barbarian party, in that regard. I can honestly say this was the opinion I was given on day one as I read through some of these articles, yet, I kept asking myself: why? Why do these people think this? What is TUP all about?
So, I joined TUP. I decided to see, for myself, if they were elitist, evil, dark, all that is wrong with the world. And I found, instead, a community, embracement, acceptance, comradeship, loyalty and competence. Instead of being shunted off to the side as a ‘newbie’ my thoughts were listened to, perhaps they were not accepted, but my say was allowed and listened to by the party elite. For those active, and willing to serve the nation TUP offers a welcoming community where you will be accepted, and for those who are not, quite, as active, because of RL issues etc. the party is still open and ready. No matter your age, your experience, or your naivety, TUP will help you get on your feet, stay on your feet, and teach you the skills that you would like to learn.
My experience here, despite being ready to leave for NE should my fears prove true, shows that TUP is not elitist, not evil, not the big bad wolf. Instead, TUP is the party of Unity, the party that seeks to serve the eUK community, then, now and forever.
So, I say to you, do not believe the first propaganda you see, but, look for yourself. Research, learn, ask questions and above all, think about getting involved. You will not regret it!

Look for yourself indeed. Nice to have you on board. TUP welcomes fresh ideas and involvement.
You views, "they were not accepted". Just because they said that what you wanted wasn't possible doesn't nessesarily mean that it is so!
Spoken like a true TUP multi or egos? within a few days running for congress and saying stuff like Instead, TUP is the party of Unity, the party that seeks to serve the eUK community, then, now and forever. or No matter your age, your experience, or your naivety, TUP will help you get on your feet, stay on your feet, and teach you the skills that you would like to learn. (how would you know after a few days ) LOL like your a new player come on and Niemand Knows yr not new all at
We are too young to have even have developed these ideas yet, we just haven't seen enough from the political scene yet you have seen that there is no elitism?
( Some of us at NE don't agree that the TUP are Elitist and Evil )
pull the other one
I must say that "Arriving, stumbling, into the complex, large, bright, harsh world of the eUK I remember blinking as I tried to figure out what the heck I was supposed to do." is a typical forum elite line.
You either joined the right party or you are doing a bad job of changing your account, we will watch your progress with interest!
Don you just killed 3 fairys 🙁
Voted and subbed, Bohemond. Great article 🙂
how did you experience " embracement, acceptance, comradeship, loyalty and competence." ?
Can you give examples ? specially about competence and embracement, please ?
Couple names at NE commenting/trolling on every article produced are now embarassing their party, I'm pretty sure NE aren't as bad as these guys are making them look either.
(ESO are made of pure awesome, by the way!)
pure awesome and ß
LOL pot kettle black Lewis Cromwell
This guy hasnt just joined look at the tosh there saying
Every party (at least the decent ones like UKPP) welcomes new guys with open arms, I don't think any party would 'shun' a newbie, that seemed to be active and interested. After all the new guy is the future!
Every party has at least 4 tiers of player. Leaders, Actives, 2 Clickers, and Deads. You start off 2 clicking, getting your bearings, you then move on to become an active and if your intelligent enough you can finally join the 'leader' group. There's no magic formula just hard graft.
Leaders, actives, 2 clickers, deads and Alphabethis, those are classes.
Now I have expressed concerns that you seem a little too knowledgeable considering you are only eight days old. Your opinions after two days sparked an interest and i will be honest to admit I did think you was Ergo reincarnated, I think that is what some people are getting at. Nothing personal but it does look that way.
Anyway I noticed you are top of TUP's congress list. Congratulations and all the best for your stint in Congress
in ten days, Romper will envy bohemond4's strength. This guy is exponential, doubles its potential every TUP seconds. No doubt, he'll be the next CP, and he'll win, no doubt, write down these words. I swear it on the Crow of the TUP logo.
Bohemond4 Good luck with your development and progression in the game ,
may you be successfully, and I wish you all the best to that end
" embracement, acceptance, comradeship, loyalty and competence."
Like I said, I recently joined, which, btw is actually true. I also joined the TUP IRC and started conversations there with people. Likewise, the party forum. On both I found players willing to give me advice and opportunities to speak out. I found community.
I am not Ergo. I cannot help it if you think these things. Also, I don't see what age has to do with knowledge. Ive played multi-player alliance like games for years and years, things like Tribal Wars and Grepolis (used the same username too, BTW, with a slight difference: Bohemond 1V). This is, seriously, not that much different. Sure, theres an added complexity with the economy relying on others, but thats kinda like economics. Not difficult to master there.
each country is merely an alliance, in my eyes, that you would find on another world split into sub-alliances (MU and parties). My experience running successful alliances, or being part of the leadership team is what I have transplanted to this game.
As for TUP, ive seen many successful alliances on other games, and plenty of bad alliances. The good ones are those that foster teamwork, spirit and look after new players. My entry into TUP had all the hallmarks of a unit that would make a good alliance on another game, something like Grepolis. If I was to transplant them there, teach them how to play, they would dominate the world easily. Im sure parties that use the same methods, like NE, UKRP, UKPP would have the same success.
Based on my experience, and my fairly good first impressions I was able to identify the qualities in TUP I look for to make a good alliance. Believe me, if they were not there, I would have left. I would be asking to run for NE Congress right now if they were not there. But they were.
As for knowledge of the game, its true that I ask questions. Theres also a Wikia, im not sure how accurate it is, but Ive read all the eUK stuff so far, and some of ePoland and eGermany.
'Bohemond4 Good luck with your development and progression in the game ,

Thankyou! Same to you mate
lol, pwned
bohemond4, good choice if you go for success, TUP is winning and it's going to be a winner bet for a while.
Good luck to your Bohemond4.
Nice to see the new positive comments and campaigning lasted a long time 🙁
For the record this was exactly what I found.
"a community, embracement, acceptance, comradeship, loyalty and competence. "
A very lively chat in IRC, supplies of food & tanks & a couple of vital & not insignificant cash injections to really help me up off the ground.
All they ask in return is for you to be active & keen to learn. If you are they'll help you get into Congress or progress in whatever area you are interested in.
No conspiracy they are just keen to help active players.
The "I love my party" comments are what you'd find from most guys who have only had that experience.
Let's be fair to the guy. He opted for one of the well known parties joined their forums (where there is less criticism of TUP) so having heard one side of debate its only natural that he comes down on the TUP side.
Regardless of wheter he supports the years old system and feels that the eUK is the best it can be - He's active, intrested and not afraid to debate....so welcome o/
You seem to have so much knowledge for a new player when i was new i didnt know any of this stuff and didnt even know how to make a newspaper but u seem to know how to do all of this and manage to make a article praising TUP u gotta admit urself this does look dodgy

Not really, like ive said, ive spent the last 3 years playing these types of games. Its just another game. I find if you want to know things, you seek out experienced players, guides and information, read it and apply it.
finding out how to create a newspaper was not that hard, i followed the instructions (: I find the easiest way to learn is to read guides and ask questions, 2 things im not afraid of doing, and sought out. Plus, Kravenn linked me the tutorial that was created, a good read and totally non-partisan!
@ Alpha and Jordee, thanks for your positive comments, appreciated.
