Of Farms And Zombies

Day 2,222, 17:47 Published in India Serbia by Ind1anMartyr

Hi guys,

It has been a while since the occupation tax and the determination bonus has been applied in-game. There have been a lot of views and thoughts about it, but as the days have progressed, there has been more clarity on how it affects nations.

I read a recent article (go on vote up the guy!) that talked about the effects. The article by itself is not really extraordinary, it is the comments that are insightful and even downright depressing! Have a read below at some of my selected comments and share your thoughts if you feel like it! (or disagree) since this would help us all understand better.

Stoich :

The tax is not balanced at all by the determination bonus and is yet another farmer oriented mechanic in the game.

It basically means no income for the vast majority of countries in the game, which will in time fully destroy any sort of "organized" game play. The hope of the admins obviously is that people will compensate for that with buying gold to turn into currency to dish out in COs from them.

The result like many other things they have done will be another impulse for the ongoing exodus of players.

The determination bonus is nothing more then a minor nuisance and one that appears only after weeks and months of occupation.

Soon smaller and even medium countries will not be able to sign MPPs anymore which will make impossible for them to even start thinking of fighting back. There is no way for them to change this even with high taxes as the taxes would be going to the occupier.

The complete morons managed to brake the game even more then it was before.

Alex Dima :

And then the occupied countries changed the taxation level to minimum and this taxation of occupied regions became useless again.

Stoich :

really? It basically killed any ability of the occupied countries to save resources to organize a resistance at a later time, because the countries now have no income, hence no ability to borrow against their taxes at a future date as well, only on the basis of private donations...

Basically the game is being turned into a farmville, but only for a few chosen by the admins countries. They have been hard at work to destroy the warrior type countries for 2 years now, changing the mechanics and bonuses and events and tournaments and what not to that end.

The result is more then obvious in the number of players left playing the game even "revive the dead" tricks can't hide it anymore.

Alex Dima :

I didn't say this change is good or bad. I said it is useless. : )

Stoich :

well let's agree to disagree, for me it is very useful for some.... farmers 😉

FOOT-NOTE

Share your thoughts via an article or a comment. eRepublik is a game that is tough to balance due to its number of players with varied thoughts and ideas...added to which ar ethe admins and their incessant need for making money (but obviously!) Though none of what we write or discuss ever gets taken up the admins/coders, its still worthwhile to discuss, if nothing, to enhance our own understanding of economy and social interactions.

Maybe time to turn back time and go back to "farming"? 😛
