Observations of a newb

Day 1,786, 16:45 Published in South Africa South Africa by WastelandENT

I may be new to eSA and this life may be new to the eworld but I am the reincarnation of a previous citizen of the eUSA known as DannyM92, therefore I am not green behind the ears when it comes to the eworld. What I have noticed from my first few days in eSA is that this nation is full of great people and has a ton of potential. Everyone I have encountered so far has been great! Whether it be Alfredo the Sauce taking the time to answer my questions about UP or Steven Bosch taking time out if his day to answer a new citizens questions about the national MU. Even the simple gesture of everyone wishing me a warm welcome on the national forum or Willdeboer sending me a friend request out of the blue, as if to reach a hand out and personally welcome me to eSA. Also a special shout out to Rexdeus for paying attention to my profile picture, even something that simple can make someone feel at home in a new setting.

(what eSA has made me feel like thus far)

But I digress. I do have some observations of things that can be done more efficiently that would make it easier for a new citizen to catch on to how things work. I mean none of the following in a negative way or to be critical of anyone's work, it is simply, a newbs observation after all. One of the biggest things I notice is that certain parts of the eSA'an government feels unorganized. I understand that eSA has a lower population than most other nations therefore it is harder spread the work load around and certain things are overlooked. But I believe that some of these things can be resolved quickly if we put our minds to it. One of my biggest concerns is the national forum, I had to spend a lot of time looking around to find certain information or threads that I wanted to read. I think it would serve the country very well if the forums were cleaned up just a little bit, spring cleaning, so to speak. Some of the threads have not had a post since early 2011 and it makes the forum seem cluttered, archiving some of these would help a lot. Another thing I noticed could use some cleaning out is the section on the forums for new players and the NPP and SAWGO. It seems some of the posts in that section are older and no longer hold true of the goal of the program or the program is not even running anymore ( which I believe to be the case with the eSA'an university, that may not be the case but it seems so to me. ) in which case the thread should be archived so that new citizens do not get confused by this. Also I would like to see the eSA'an history updated in the eSA'an wiki because I am a nerd and love to read things like that. 😛

Again I realize some of these things may be in the process of being worked on but the project lead may be busy with more pressing matters and they can't get to it. In no way do I mean to criticize any ones work or job, these are just ideas I have to help new citizens get into the swing of the game a little faster.

(Just another day at the eSA'an offices)

Another issue I have had so far is getting into the national MU. I have applied and have been waiting for over 12 hours now and have not heard anything back yet. 12 hours may not seem like a long time to some, but for people who are extremely active 12 hours is a long to time to be waiting. I realize they have many applications to get to but this is an important issue. The reason this is such an issue is because currently eSA does not having any training wars going on or any real wars going on, and our allies may not have any campaigns running on a certain day or they have only a limited number of campaigns running and you get to it just a little late and the battle is over, which is a problem I have been having today. Until just recently I was not able to fight, I have been waiting for a campaign to start for hours. When those instances arrive it is very difficult to gain fight experience that day. This leads to having days where the progress of newer citizens is slowed by not being able to fight. Being in a MU could help by giving people daily orders and showing them where to get their fight experience for the day. A training war would solve the issue but seeing as we only have limited options for nations to have training wars with, this may not be plausible. Another solution is trying to find a few more volunteers who are trusted to help sort through the national MU's application list.

( What happens when new citizens don't gain vital experience in their early stages )

Alas, these are just simple observations from a newb. When you cut through all the fog and look past the little things you see the eSA is filled with bright citizens who are willing to do whatever it takes to make eSA a better nation. I have felt nothing but warm welcome since becoming a citizen and have no plans to leave anytime soon. I look forward to working with you all to make eSA a better nation and a major power in the new world.
