O bother…art, a thouand questions, chess

The Assignment:
As given in “[TMS]Let’s Fill eRep with Art pt2
The way this works is you comment and I give you an artist. You then publish an article with this explanation and an example of the given artist's work. You then do the same for people who comment on yours.

Homer gave me Ledua Peni, so here it goes:

Ledua Peni is originally from Fiji but is now studying art at the University of the South Pacific's Oceania Arts Centre in Melbourne (or at least was doing so quite recently). Ledua Peni is 29 years old (or maybe 30 if he had a birthday quite recently).

Ledua Peni’s art can be described as flowing with complex, intertwined shapes, from vividly colourful oil painting to black+white contrasted printmaking. You can read Peni’s words about printmaking in the article Peni Turns to Print:

Penisaid printmaking was a great form of art although it was not new for Pacific Islanders.
"The funny thing is, this is a traditional art form in the Pacific. For example, in Samoa, they carve images into wood or in Fiji when we print designs on the masi (tapa). That is printmaking. It's just that it's being modernised," he said.
Printmaking has been around for centuries. It is one of the very first forms of the printing press. Books and drawings were printed this way in the old days.

Peni’s printmaking can be seen in action in this youtube video: http://youtu.be/Kwzmcn0a274

I like this one among Peni’s prints:

Title: The Twinkling of Time
Year: 2013
Medium: Linocuts

Here is more of his art, but some oil painting this time:

Title: Relationship
Year: 2011
Medium: Oil on Canvas
Looks like a tree made out of snakes or probably fish. Or it could be an eye, which may be the case because he seems to use a lot of eyes in his oil painting (see others below). I like the way the different shapes flow together as one form.

Title: Oceania
Year: 2011
Medium: Oil on Canvas

Title: Tobo Ika Ena Vanua Mamaca
Year: 2012
Medium: Oil on Canvas

While it is hard to figure out what is going on his work, Peni’s art certainly has a Pacific Rim feeling to it, very lively and full of nature’s will.

Well, that was certainly intellectual enough for one article (or 5). Time for some dumb questions from a player who took a break since October. To recap that time, we had just left Asgard, found liberation from a long wipe, and welcomed in (or almost) new players from places like eUSA (which there seem to be more of these days).

Questions about the new stuff:
1. Are the weekly challenges now happening every week?
2. Are there any tricks to spinning the Power Wheel? Is it even worth paying the 1 Gold?
3. It says I have 29 days to buy the Combat Stash. Is it better to hold out to make Plato beg for my money or should I just give in and buy it so that the next fleecing comes sooner? (I’ll want it bad eventually, just know it)
4. Anything else that is a new feature that I should save Gold for?

Questions about warrior clickfesting:
5. So won any good wars lately?
6. Lost any better ones?
7. Who invited Poland to visit and how long are they planning to stay?
8. Are we in the process of getting wiped or getting ourselves unwiped?

Questions about geopolitical pointless points:
9. Are we moving towards joining/creating an alliance?
10. We still buddies with Asgard? Who are our best allies now?
11. Has the Bromance finally been rekindled or are we still huffing and puffing on the embers?
12. Is eCanada sitting at the big table yet?

Questions about canuck community craziness:
13. Any good Presidents lately? If so, what did he/she do?
14. Is Congress still blacklisting anyone who sneezes on the wrong side of the forum rules?
15. Where did Clan Wolf go? I see Oinyo and Foxfire are still around, but whaddahellhappnd?!?
16. Any good legislations lately? If so, what does it/shit do?

Questions about a category I cannot think of a name for:
17. Is there a place to get extra food/guns now and then?
18. Anyone seen sal t. balls around lately?
19. So how about that election, eh?
20. Would anyone be interested in following a game of chess? I could use some pointers if I am about to mess up royally. Game found here:

I need to see the game to understand what is going on so I will be posting screenshots of me tracking the game. I can update if people care enough to follow.

No need to answer many or any of the questions. If you have a good idea to share or want an art assignment, then please let me know.
