Malaysian Congressional Elections Results: Analysis

Day 1,833, 08:21 Published in Malaysia United Kingdom by Greatmoff

I want to write a quick article discussing yesterday’s congressional elections.

First of all I would like to thank everyone who voted for the Free Malaysian Party. We went from 5 votes last month to 14 votes this month. Last month we were lucky to get one seat, this month we were unlucky not to get a second. We have shown that we are now a vocal political force and I believe it made for one of the most interesting congressional elections in recent history.

The results of the election go as follows:

Parti Rakyat eMalaysia won 4 seats with 40 votes.
eMalaysian Democratic Union won 2 seats with 23 votes.
Parkatan Rakyat Malaysia won 2 seats with 15 votes
Free Malaysian Party won 1 seat with 14 votes
Sarkiat Kebangsaan eMalaysia won 1 seat with 8 votes.

To put it another way:

Parkatan Rakyat Malaysia won 1 seat for every 7.5 votes
Sarkiat Kebangsaan eMalaysia won 1 seat for every 8 votes
Parti Rakyat eMalaysia won 1 seat for every 10 votes
eMalaysian Democratic Union won 1 seat for every 11.5 votes
Free Malaysian Party won 1 seat for every 14 votes

Winners:

Losers:

When I say losers I mean that the Free Malaysian party drew the short straw due to the political system. Whereas Parkatan Rakyat Malaysia has fortune smile in their favour (No disrespect to them for what was a hard fought and enjoyable election to follow).

If we look at the results in another way by comparing last month to this month they look like this:

Parti Rakyat eMalaysia plus 5 votes (14% increase)
eMalaysian Democratic Union plus 7 votes (47% increase)
Parkatan Rakyat Malaysia plus 5 votes (50% increase)
Free Malaysian Party plus 9 votes (180% increase)
Sarkiat Kebangsaan eMalaysia plus 4 votes (100% increase)

Overall as a nation there were 30 more votes cast than last month (43% increase)

The Free Malaysian Party was by far the most improved party both in terms of total number of votes and percentage increase on last time.

I think this demonstrates that the Free Malaysian Party is an up and coming force in eMalaysian politics, and hopefully this will bring better results in the future.

Once again thank you to everyone who voted for the Free Malaysian Party and congratulations to everyone who won a seat from every party. It was an enjoyable election to follow, and hopefully this is a sign of better things to come.
