It's a game, so let's have some fun!

Day 686, 12:32 Published in USA USA by Cromstar

Members of the Conservative Party of the eUSA,

Now that the Presidential elections are over, our attention begins to turn towards Party President elections. This month the CvP election is wide open, after last months winner, Raegan Taylor, committed esuicide and killed off her citizen. This of course really didn't help the party she left mostly in shambles.

I decided to run for Party President even before this incident, and my resolve was only stiffened when Raegan quit and left the rest of us behind. Therefore, I will outline my plans for the future of the party if I am elected.

First, we have two major problems with our membership base: recruiting and activity. The recruiting problem is easily solved, if we apply ourselves. We need a dedicated group of recruiters who seek out new players and help them get into the game, and draw them into the party. However, this is only half of what must be done. Recruiting alone does the party little good. While it makes the party ranking look better, it doesn't actually advance the goals of the party membership. For that, we need to get new (and old) party members active. In order to increase party participation, I hope to expand the council to provide more opportunities for members to join. Additionally, I hope to start a campaign to bring more members to our forums, our IRC channel, and providing other outlets for members to involve themselves in. eRepublik parties are more about friendship than political ideology, and we need to work together to advance our common interests.

Secondly, we need to reorganize for elections. Although Congress elections will begin right after the PP election, we need to do a better job of preparing candidates and campaigning on their behalf. One of the goals of the expanded council will include the creation of a Party Campaign Manager, to head up a crew whose job will entail assisting credentialed Congressional candidates in their respective elections.

Third, we need to work on our relations with other parties. Regardless of 'political stance' in eRepublik, other American parties often have similar goals to our own. We should seek out the common ground with other parties and work to advance those goals. Part of this should include developing a mission statement of sorts, identifying the principles that the CvP stands for. While they may not be concrete, or even apply to all our members, we should try to make strong generalized statements about where we stand and what we me.

Fourth, communication in the CvP is awful. In fact, it's downright nonexistent. As a former Party Vice-President here in the CvP, I understand how crucial communication is for a functioning party. I ran the party CP primary the very first month, and it was difficult to get the message out to all our members, but our dedicated staff managed it. We need to find new and better ways of keeping tabs on our members, as well as getting back to anyone who comes to us with questions, comments, and concerns. Therefore, I propose that we begin the creation of a membership roster for use in mass-messaging systems to facilitate the distribution of information within the party.

Finally, it's all about the fun. eRepublik is a game. A big, confusing game, but a game nonetheless. Therefore, we need to have fun! Anyone whose been to our IRC channel should know we like to have fun. If you haven't been there...its #cvp3 on Rizon. Come on by and join us in a rootbeer party (cuz the alchy isn't legal for you younger members). If you don't like rootbeer...you don't like America! (I kid...or do I?)

So please, CvP, support me for President of the Conservative Party on the 15th of October!

And as always, I'll answer any question that pertains to something relevant. Comments and suggestions are appreciated.
