eDay 4063

Day 4,037, 10:29 Published in Romania Romania by Alina V

It looks like any other day, just before the CP elections but, 2000 days ago, on the 14th of July 2013, it felt so far away it seem part of a Science Fiction scenario...
Please read the article with your 2063 eDay glasses on! As everybody can see, an amazing number of players enjoyed the idea of the article, Plato - at that time he wasn’t endorsing with gold, I may even say he was not so fond of the media module 😛 - published the link on the game facebook page and many players got to comment with personal opinions about this vision of the eFuture.

Now, that the Future is here, I invited Tasos to a relaxed talk - I don’t know if I ever told him, but I intended to ask how he feels about the article when 4063 is upon us since the day I read the story for the first time 😛

Hello 🙂
Thank you for accepting this journey back to the times when people coordinated in chat rooms and military unit members actually talked to each other 😃 To get into the atmosphere of that era, few warm-up questions:
If memory serves well, more than 2000 days ago we shared the FAR chat and you were the eGreek ambassador in eRomania.
Once you concluded the diplomatic mission, you stayed around and took active part in the social and media life of the country - I can easily recall the beautiful string of articles participating in Brainstorming Party for Writers and the Friend Points Christmas media campaign 😃
How do you remember that time?

Tasos: Yes, I do remember it. You know it was fun meeting people from other countries and having something in common. Writing was good and I had good time but, as you said, all mighty Plato didn't appreciate this module and I stopped writing. At one point even trolling Bruce became boring.

Back to the topic of today…
To mark the first obvious prophecy: “There are only few of the “old” players still in the game Romper is one of them and he became 400 level”. Other old players you know are still around? Old friends you miss? Is Earentir still there?

Tasos: To be honest, I miss many people and it would be unfair to mention only few. Nowadays I don't know too many people, I don't even make comments or shout. I think that I play this game only because I am addicted, ofc not as much as I used to in the past.

Both of us became eCitizens in January 2010 and were considered “young” after three years in the game, although at the time some were quite powerful tanks. You estimated in the article the difference will still be visible today. How do you feel now? Is it still possible for someone to start the game hoping s/he will catch up to the “old guys” as some of the stubborn eBabies from 2010 did?
Any thoughts about how the game mechanics and citizen account development are influenced by the use of scripts?

Tasos: Scripts are good if you are human 😃 But seriously there isn't anything to do in the game except fight. If there was a module - political, economical, even a different war that doesn't take 2 min finish (and no, guerilla isn't a good module) it would be great. You can't expect people to be around the clock in erep page just to fight. In any case the action of this game was always in other places: irc, mobile chat, skype, teamspeak so you use a script just to fight. I won't lie, I like scripts. If owners were smart they could have a gold ingame script it would be a blast even if it was offered for 10 euros or 200 gold. But markenting was never their strong point.

Recently, a media contest was launched - Best forecast for the next 1000 days. Would you dare make another 2000 days forecast? 😃

Tasos: To be honest, I don't know if there will be erepublik in 1000 days from now because although I am not that active I don't see too many new ones joining the game and I also don't see the owners advertise this game anywhere. Maybe I am wrong but if you don't pay attention in your own product how do you expect it to grow? They are way too focused in other mobile games and I think that they consider the game absolite and they have it in autopilot. Ofc I am a typical player and in erepublic we always complain about everything 😃.

I am not aware of any recent International eRepublik meeting. Care to remember the ones you took part in?

Tasos: I was in Timisoara and in Thessaloniki, only in these 2 meetings. It was really fun. I have to say that although I am from Thessaloniki I enjoyed more the Timisoara one mostly because of the trip. I was coming by car through Bulgaria and I got lost twice so it took me 21 hours to arrive 😃 . It was fun I met many good people in both meetings and with some of them I still kept contact. If there is another one i might even go again.

Curiosity is greater, so, Tasos, did you find the lucky eRepublik player mentioned at the end of the article? 😃

Tasos: Ofc i din't 😃 it was science fiction 😃

In the end, I want to thank you for lots of good memories from here, for the helpful attitude, patience and balance, but most of all: Thank you for making this eDay special! 🙂
