Demockracy Inaction: A survey to get things rolling

Day 2,105, 15:25 Published in Canada Spain by Wilfie

With Congress elections coming to a close, it looks like I will definitely be part of Congress, along with most of those who were able to run at the last minute. Being the first election held in months, you would expect it to be an exciting and competitive race but contrary to expectations, it turned into an event where everyone showing up gets a prize.

Everyone’s a winner in an eCanadian election! Because we're nice like that

In my last article (thanks for voting it up, those who did), I tried to touch-base with everyone by lending my ear to see what would suit eCanada’s taste for the dollars and scents collected each day on our work taxes. My personal proposal was for 5%. Other candidates proposed 1%, 2%, and 3% on what we pay four the Work Tax.

I also was listening for any other comments, suggestions, or tips on what to do for Congress and how to get going in it. Nobody responded with messages or comments about any specific issues, which leads me to think that I’m either doing it wrong or there’s a general lack interest in such things. I’m going to be optimistic and assume that my method was flawed, meaning there’s a better way to get this done. I can’t wait for you to come to me with your ideas. I’ve got to go out and somehow collect them.

Kissing babies, shaking paws, all that clichéd political stuff…

Here’s an attempt to do something democratically proactive before Congress officially starts:

I made a survey. You fill it in. I collect the information then share it, allowing Congress to make an informed and speedy decision on things like the Work Tax. If the survey gets little or no responses, then I’ll assume people have better things to do or better leaders to follow, which I certainly hope is the case.

The survey contains:
a) A breakdown of all the tax rates from 1% to 20%. I did it in increments of 2% between 10 and 20, because it’s likely few people want anything above 10%.
b) A checklist of issues you can prioritize for eCanada (8 options available)
c) A suggestion box where you can submit more issues that Congress needs to pay attention to (for use in a future survey)
d) Feedback area about this survey

Let’s get things off on a rolling start.
