Custer's POTUS Endorsement; Save My Job!

Found this postcard from the old homestead in Fort Riley, Kansas. Tourists would always come by and wave, Libby would serve them lemonade and give them these nice cards.

POTUS Election Endorsement

I haven’t seen any campaign articles, but I’ll go out on a limb and suggest that current CP Patanok is probably going to top the ballot.
Furthering that assumption, let’s say he’s happy with his Team’s performance this month and will keep the same Cabinet.
That means KingTaco will be SecMed again, and being happy with his team, I get to keep my job.

So, my personal endorsement in the February 5 election is:
KingTaco for SecMed again so I get to keep my job.

Been Keeping Busy

Reworked and republished that Noob Help edition of the Department of Defense paper.. Took some sh*t for recommending a specific MU and a Party in a Government paper, and they’re right. It ain’t the worst thing I’ve done in a government paper, though blatant campaigning for Oblige in the WHPR was so outrageous it was hilarious– Hilariously wrong, and I really took heat for that one. So the DoD Noob reprint is cleaned up.

The weekly Government News Roundup paper is, thankfully, is plug-and-play format affair, just a little chore and practicing the disciplines involved. Just git 'er done, on time and under budget.

Last week I had occasion to watch over the shoulder of a New Player who found the app on Google. It was quite an enlightening experience. First thing a new player gets is an automated game mail from his CP President, and ours is borked. So me and TheeDude were tasked with creating a new one. The process is underway, we expect to be submitting it to the wonderful folks over at Congress for Approval.. And soon new signups will be getting a New Citizens Message that actually works. It’s been an honor and privilege to work on this important project.

The purpose of shadowing my buddy’s adventure was to see what happens first. Yep, the automated NCM, check. I heard the app automatically signed people up at an MU called.. Free Beer and Hot Wings?? Yeah, that happens, too. I thought for sure I’d come upon some huge conspiracy to.. I don’t know what.
I moved to the Free Beer MU and started asking around about it. Turns out it’s fine. We don’t have a national army anymore, so no national Civilian MU. They gotta go somewhere. Hopefully they find their way into an MU that suits their path in the game-- some do, right away, and those have a lower death rate than those who sit in the Beer MU.
Also, one of eRep’s lying numbers is that of MU membership. What shows as thousands of members is actually a handful of noobs, a few who never ventured out but log in to play sometimes, and literally thousands of dead people.

I’ve been watching New Players, they actually do just wander off and die after a couple days, unless they stumble across the DoD article that has the Discord Invite link in it. Once there, opening the eUSA Welcome page is like Dorothy’s first view of The Freakin’ Emerald City..
But making friends from scratch, trying to connect with other players and get sent to any right place.. Damn near impossible strictly in-game. Boy, if they don’t find that Discord link then they’re stuck in this stupid game without us. No wonder they fu*king quit.

So I’ve been a bit preoccupied.. Finding New Players at the eRep Tools site and on our roster at Free Beer, sending them a damn form letter with a link to that DoD article with the links and sh*t.. Is anyone out there doing outreach like this? I blow maybe ten minutes a day on the task.

And writing papers… I write a couple newspapers.. That keeps me busy..

A big part of the week was spent doing interviews/chats trying to dig into the IES Pause and all its complexities, then deciding to abandon that story in the interest of “oh, I am NOT opening that can of worms” while saying publicly “they seem to be working this out, let’s not stir the pot.”
Call me old, call me slow, but I’d rather not tackle this one. Not in an Official paper and certainly not in my own.

(ya gotta click the links to get the jokes.)
