Brief History of the TW with Finland!

I just wanted to get the history of our TW out there for others and the Future to see. It seems some Finns have an alternative look at history and also uses this as an excuse for what they are currently doing. Of course it doesn't matter, We decide what is done in our regions, but still i will try and show my view of the story, From some of the information i have gathered from our forums, screenshots and so on.



We had a Tw for much of 2016, as both Finland and Sweden helped us with PTOers.
For this they only paid back our taxes from time to time (sometimes not). By the end of 2016 from what i remember, We had gotten tired of Sweden (who was very unorganized, and would for example attack our neighbors using our regions without our approval).
At this time we had a TW with Finland only during our Congress election to help us, but eventually stopped completely during 2016 as we didn't need that much help anymore.

Finland Was always very well organized and was much more well behaved so we rather wanted them as our TW partner.
I think i can attribute much of the good stuff to Lord Morgoth, because after he disappeared things have seen to get worse and worse. :'(


An example of Lord Morgoth:


He was the one who used to have this idea of making sure Finnish and eNorwegians supported instead of RH Hunters, and worked for that. Also relatively good at communicating with us and asking us. Finland seemed to let this go eventually after he was gone.

Sometimes Finland would decide something without getting our Confirmation, but it would usually get solved in the end.

(During this TW Even Finland attacked eUK once without our approval,
One of the things we hate the most, But their Government apologized and
we ended up continuing the TW once again.. )





From the Start of this TW:

In November 2016 Lord Morgoth sent me a message that they wanted a TW and he had some good arguments, i told him that,
but i explained our situation and that we wanted to focus
on our Economy and and our producers.

He said he would talk to Cenwrath who was the Finnish CP, and Cenwrath soon offered us 60k per month.
I soon found out it seems Cenwrath payed this from his personal Money.
(Some say Cenwrath is Cendorr 2.0, i am not sure i can believe that 😒 Something strange with Those Finns..)

Message from Cenwrath:
"I propose that we pay you 60 000 cc per month if we can have training war
in Nord-Norge (,Trondelag) and Svalbard & Jan Mayen.
This deal can last several months if you like and in that
case we can pay you entire sum in advance, for all months.

Also if you have any wishes about your congress elections,
we can keep or liberate regions as you want."

We obviously liked this offer and said Yes to it, and agreed to 2 months.
We also didn't ask for Taxes back as the offer was good enough.
(Russia had offered to rent Nord-Norge and we would get 1,3 times our taxes, Obviously still not a lot for us, and also we had some bad experience with them before this.)

Cenwrath donated 120k cc for TW 2 months - 60k per month.
This was for November and December





As January came the TW continued for some time. Until someone in our Congress asked for the Payment for continuing the TW, as we had only agreed to 2 months with previous deal.


So in February we have a total of 130k cc Donated from Finland.


From here on we agreed they would pay us 30k cc each month for the TW,
and that is what we have had donated to us. We still didn't ask for taxes
back mostly as we didn't want to keep track of it with the different donations and so on(on average they had made about 15-20k cc from us in taxes per month). So that was sorted included in the 30k cc payment.

(Edit: Also i forgot to mention, eNorway probably makes up to 10-15k from eNorwegians working in their holdings here. They can't work there when the regions are occupied by Finland, so we lose that tax income not to mention those people lose their income. That has also been some of the reason we have wanted a Fee and some have been skeptical about having TWs here)


In late May eNorway decided we wanted to exclude Svalbard from the TW.
This seemed alright until June came.

I was CP and when i asked for payments to continue the TW. The Finnish CP Melmis sent me a message:

" Hello

Last time Svalbard was liberated is 16 days ago so we have already been
respecting the decision Norwegian congress made.
After all, these are Norwegian regions and our war is a training war so you can of course choose to exclude some regions from the war if you wish to do so.

But there is a problem with the cost of 30 000 CC if Svalbard is not to be attacked.
Svalbard holds most of the bonuses to food production and those have been the main reason Finland has been willing to pay this fee for continuing the TW.
The actual war benefits both sides and we feel like it would be unfair if
we have to pay just for the war.

You could argue that we get some bonuses from Nord-Norge but those are mainly towards
aircraft weapons. And realistically it's not profitable producing those in Finland.
But food is an other thing and that is produced everywhere since it's not profiable to
sell but to prduce for your own needs.

So just to conclude: we want to continue the TW with you guys and are ready to
keep Svalbard out of the war as requested but if this is the condition we are
not anymore ready pay the fee of 30 000 for bonuses we don't get from the TW anymore.
We would have to be able to attack both Nord-Norge and Svalbard if we want to
realistically discuss about any fee being paid by Finland. "



We never realized that Finland cared about our resources. We didn't reach an internal agreement in june and i decided to just leave it. So the deal from this month was 10k + our taxes back.



Seeing from the Message Finland said they were OK paying us for the TW as long as they got Resource bonuses from it.

(This is probably the part some Finns seems to think that they rented Svalbard from us And that we didn't have a TW there. I can never remember getting such an Offer. It was only they wanted Svalbard to be part of the TW.)

So in the Next Month July, Joshua was CP and he pushed to get Svalbard back into the TW so we could get paid 30k cc a month again.

In August We agreed to temporary Cancel the TW as Finland was fighting Turkey and they were messing up our TW.

By the end of August we were offered the same Deal of 30k cc to continue it.


In September we were approached by Russia again they wanted to Rent Nord-Norge,
They also told us Finland was fine with this.

We actually agreed at first to a Deal with Russia at first under the condition that Finland would be fine with it.

Suddenly it turned out Finland thought they were renting it to Russia,
while eNorway would just get the same amount anyway. xD

Which is quite insulting for us that they(at least some of them)
thought they could Re-Rent out our regions without our approval(could argue if they thought of it as we approved, but still what a stupid deal for us). And even so we had a TW they weren't renting the regions.

But already here it seems some Finns have got it wrong.

Finland also wanted to keep Svalbard under this deal, so that would have been a much worse deal for us.

Its true though, here we actually were asked if Finland could Rent Svalbard.

So we said no to that deal, And lots had some second thoughts whether we would want to accept such a deal anyway.
We could of course have Rented Nord-Norge to Russia, let Finland or someone else have a TW in our southern regions.
But we didn't like that as we rather wanted Finland as our TW partner, and it would be too complicated.

Finland agreed to pay 60k cc upfront for 2 months more of the TW and avoid all that mess.

So In October we kept it going.


If i remember right around this time there was a big War that was going on in Russia and Finland against COlin and CO, so the TW was put on hold for a short while. Sweden even attacked us without asking again. Their government did later say they regretted this. We let this be as they were actually helping their friend and our other neighbor Russia, and Finland had paid us for the TW so it wasn't the worse letting Sweden through.

In November Eraclev agreed to 15k cc for the TW. I think this was mostly overlooked by our Congress, i am not sure they would have agreed to it.
Finland was supposed to help us getting only 1 region for Congress, but they even failed at this.

Also with the Events in November Finland ended up making somewhere around 50k cc from us in taxes!

So in December we agreed to that we would ask for 15k cc + our taxes back.
Pretty much the deal we have had most of the time. (On average those other months when they paid 30k cc they made 15-20k cc from us in Taxes.)

Finland let us know they would only pay either taxes back or a Fee, but not both.

I let them know, that in that case we might not want a deal and would look for other Possibilites.

After a while we were tol😛



Not sure what they want to do with the Temporary wipe, but Of course eNorway can't accept this. I also very clearly say the TW deal is over.

Not to mention the TW really stopped the moment i became CP, I or We have never agreed to have a TW this month. Of course we are understanding people, we let them stay here until we had negotiated a new deal or agreed to how they would leave. If we wanted to be difficult we could say they declared War on us just by being here.

TheJulius eventually paid us back around 55k for our taxes back last month and the beginning of this Month for our TW.

He could of course just have paid us 15k fee and we could have gotten our taxes back this month and we could have continued the TW...


But better find out sooner than later that they aren't actually our friend.

Julius says we have tried to fudge the terms of the TW.
We and i think most sane people will see that the TW was usually negotiated on a Month by Month basis. Of course we had to ask for our money or a deal every month. We also never increased our demands much (other than this month when they last month had a cheap deal and also made a ton from our taxes), Or when we agreed to have Svalbard in the TW again.

The original deal as you can see way earlier only included 3 regions, We have eventually let Finland use all our regions. I can find no evidence we actually let Finland use our other regions and i actually don't think we discussed all of them, so Does Finland have proof of this? Of course i know that we let them.. but we could have made problems of it if we wanted too.

Julius seems to say there was no written agreement and that is the cause of this problems. It wouldn't have mattered if we did, we would still be able to negotiate a new written agreement, you would also have to make sure to have every little detail in the agreement, eNorway have had problems with that before.

(That is why i keep saying the only thing that should be in a written agreement is that we can cancel the deal at any time for any or no Reason)

And of course that doesn't mean Finland is allowed to attack us, or Wipe us without our approval. If there was a specific thing they think we agreed to they should show proof. Also i haven't actually seen they claim anything more specific, Its only that they think we demanded more from the TW so they want to Wipe us.

Of course we know it is all an excuse they use for Attacking us.





Over the time we have put other relationships on the line because of Finland.
We have been offered more money by other states to have TWs on our territory.
We have turned them down because we preferred Finland.
We also turned them down as some of them were even enemies of Finland.

Too bad we have turned other countries down and let relationships fade.

But if this with Finland doesn't get solved anytime soon, Maybe some of those other countries will be available again at some point.
