A Decisive Mistake?

Day 1,679, 17:09 Published in USA Canada by 5440

Last night the USA regained the iniative by defeating Poland 92-40 in North Carolina. The main difference between North Carolina and the 88-0 Poland victory in Aquitaine, is that a good portion of the North Carolina battle took place during US prime time. It remains to be confirmed whether this was a mistake or some esoteric strategy on the part of Poland. However, at this stage it appears to have been a blunder.

When asked about this topic in IRC, former CP Oblige replie😛

"I will assume the answer is either 1.) they are auto attacking cuz the CP forgot to earlier
2.) they're trying to lose"

The above seems to be a decent analysis of the situation. For those that are unaware, the leader of the winning country has 24 hours to decide the next battle, if s/he does not within in that time it will auto attack(from eRepublik wiki). It is still possible that the start time of the battle was deliberate. It could've been that Poland was not interested in a mainland invasion at this time, thought peace with USA was impossible or undesirable, and did not feel overly concerned about a US counterattack.

By way of Occam's Razor, the "he forgot to" explanation does seem more likely.

^ from Polish article

The other recent issue in this campaign, was the narrow Polish victory in Languedoc Roussillon. Some players in the eUS believed that the battle was winnable if a better effort to hire mercenaries was made. One thread on the issue can be found here: http://eusaforums.com/forum/index.php/topic,19310.0.html although much of it focuses on general procedure. The defeat in Languedoc Roussillom is of course now nullified by the victory in North Carolina.

The Canadians were also able to repel a Spanish invasion thus far, although it was mostly a move to divert Canada's damage after their brief success in France.

To the final front in this conflict, the UK has successfully taken Brittany, one of the last two regions of France. Their initial goal was to wipe France and any chance of them having a congress.

"Suffice to say, our intention in this is clear: we have the backing, hopefully damage, and will, to remove France from the map."-JamesW, current UK Prime Minister

Although in JamesW's latest article, he says that a peace settlement with France could be possible, now that they've been unable to wipe them in time to deny them a congress. As of this article's publication, no peace treaty has been made or officially proposed.

edit: With at least a good 8 hours left, the US may be on the way to repeating this mistake in the current battle of Aquitaine. The battle started at approximately 5:30 EDT(2:30 PDT).
