[TH4CP] Intro and Activity

Day 2,293, 04:58 Published in Australia Australia by Tim_Holtz

Hello Ladies, Gentlemen and Hugh. Although most of you will probably already know I would like to formally announce that I am running for the position of Country President (Prime Minister) in the upcoming Elections. I would have released this article yesterday but I was fishing on the Murray mouth.

Anywho on to business, and there is alot to talk about.

This term needs to be one of reinvigoration. This means trying to get us back in the game not only regions wise but more importantly activity and happiness wise. Defence and Foreign Affairs will need to be an important part of this upcoming month however I feel as if activity and community need to be addressed even more so.

Quite frankly with the exception of the JDS and their excellent work most other community and activity based programs have either withered or completely gone into disrepute. This needs to be reversed with new activities being pushed and old ones revived.

i like searching for synonyms for reinvigoration into google

So, what do I actually have planned for this?

Im glad you asked 😛

Ill list them quickly then underneath go into detail about each one:

• Talkback Radio program
• Re-haul of Forum library for newb stuff
• An article or 2 about changing how we do things (big explanation needed here)
• Changing the layout of Government articles and including a suggestion box
• Guides to how Government works to make involvement easier to new players
• Brainstorm of ways to improve current programs
• Creating activity in other areas of govt

Ok Talkback Radio
Im not sure how many of you would remember this program we ran on blogtalkradio in which we would spend about an hour talking about relevant things to do with the country. We would invite people to ask questions, or give their opinion on things. It was quite a fun (definitely from my perspective) and from what ive heard other people liked it too.

This gives people the opportunity to chat and have a laugh. Activity central 😃

Re-Haul of the Forum Library
There is a section in the forums which has guides on how to do things. From what Ive seen its fairly out of date and/or not really used much. By having it linked to government articles after its been fixed up we can not only get players the info they need but also increase forum activity.

who knows, maybe in the Forum Library you will find a hot chick looking for a forbidden city

Changing how we do things
This one is something I’m very guilty of. Shooting down players ideas because we think we know better. Creating a friendly atmosphere to which new players are encouraged to participate and join the community needs to be a top priority. This will mean that some of us will have to hold back our comments. Talking down to players and predictions of doom need to be gone from our media.

I like Kim Possible, deal with it 😛

Layout and Suggestion box
This means modernising the layout of government pictures and links to also include a link to a Google form (much like James Rellori’s surveys). Then in an article once per week these suggestions are answered, either with it being taken on by the team or the idea being discussed with why it’s not feasible at this time. Again this is part of the learning process, as players see their ideas being discussed and if it’s not feasible at the moment them gaining an understanding of why. Instead of the occasional “it won’t work, just trust me” line.

Guide to Government Roles
The idea behind this idea is that activity is retained by getting that player involved somehow. The Government is a good drawing card for this. Unfortunately the age old problem is that a new player is overwhelmed by the role they have been given and quits or goes inactive as a result.
That’s where this comes in. By clearly defining every role and how they work together, showing the difference between deputy and minister will make it alot easier for a new player (or even an older one) to understand what they need to do and makes them able to do it.

google images comes through for me once again

Brainstorming to improve programs
Having an open forum for discussions on how to improve current programs and also create new programs no one else has thought of yet is a perfect way not only older players but newer players also to contribute in discussion on how to increase activity. This is something we can sit down and do as a whole community not just the government.

cooool

Creating activity all over Government
This one is fairly simple. A number of departments have easy ways to increase activity, one blaringly obvious one is the Department of Defence doing Joint hits (fighting... not doing marijuana you hippies!). Ive heard people say “whats the point? We wont win it” and you know what the second part of that may be right, we may not win a round by doing it, however thats not the entire point of it, creating that activity is paramount, once word catches on that its fun then more and more people will want to join in. Then more and more damage is directed and we become more powerful as a nation.
The Ambassador program is something that can be used, if set up correctly and defined by the Guide to Government Roles then it can be an easy and not to difficult way for newer players to be introduced into the world of the meta game.
Im sure there are other options which can be done in other departments too.

Those are just the ideas that ive come up with personally in a few days, working as a team we can implement all these ideas and more that we as a community come up with.

Thanks for Reading
