[TB] Code is Who We Thought They Were

Day 4,689, 21:58 Published in USA USA by Tyler Bubblar

In 2006 the Dennis Green coached lowly Arizona Cardinals played the Chicago Bears, a team predicted by many to win the NFC and possibly the Super Bowl that particular year. The Cardinals forced 6 turnovers and yet they lost that game narrowly due to Defensive and Special teams touchdowns. Dennis Green had an epic postgame rant for the ages. It’s worth watching if you haven’t seen it. Which leads me to the title of this Article. CODE is who we thought they were. When I was running for CP back in May the last thing on my mind was leaving CODE. I ran on a domestic heavy platform with the hope that we could revitalise the media, re engage the citizenry, close or at least narrow some of the rifts in our community, shake Congress loose from months of inertia/deadlock, and prove to all of us that the eUSA as a whole is only a dead community if we allow it to be.

I am nothing if not predictable. At this point in my eRepublik career I am a known commodity. I consider myself a pretty good writer, but even a casual perusal of my articles will reveal a very consistent overarching theme. Community, engagement, together, respect, etc. It is not intentional at all. That said, my writings reflect my values. So going back to that campaign as I said it was my intent to focus almost solely on the domestic front. If you go back to some of the Q&A threads I had open during that time I stated I wanted to approach CODE about recalibrating our relationship with them as our citizens were growing tired of farming TWs and wanted to participate in battles and campaigns of consequence. In short it was my intent to have the eUSA take a more active role in the fight between Asteria and CODE.

That as we all know at this point was not to be. Asteria Airstruck en masse into North America. Little to no resistance was put up by our Allies. After I was elected it was made plain no help for anyone was coming. The Alliance was going to lay down to protest what I viewed as paranoid conspiracy theories they perceived as reality. Focus on your communities is what the CPs of CODE nations were told. I viewed this as unacceptable. I admit I came into my latest terms skeptical of our Allies as I remember all too clearly these were the same nations that AS struck us in 2018, ran trains on us and stacked months of embargoes on us to prevent us from working our holdings if they were still located in our cores. I also remember well Thailand deciding an AS on New York on the Anniversary of 9/11 in order to celebrate an MU birthday was in good taste.

Despite that if there had been a plan I would have thrown the full weight of my administration behind it. Laying down and dying with the rest of CODE was not something I was willing to do. Then a few months later it became clear to me it was time to go. Our “Allies” valued Ireland a nation that was no longer a part of the Alliance more than the eUSA. They called me and my MoFA team liars. This on tops of months of finger pointing, backbiting, and listless whining on conspiracy theories was the end of my patience. So after an Alliance meeting I hit the button for Congress to vote on leaving. The threats immediately started. CODE would make the eUSA pay. It seems now they are going to attempt to make good on those threats. I will be frank had I seen the list of the Nations ASing into our cores back in May instead of September we would undoubtedly still be a member of CODE.

As it stands now we will have and have had help from Asteria and Hydra in countering this invasion. We are growing closer to a group of Nations that actually value the eUSA. They treat us with respect and courtesy. They protect the interests of all nations in their sphere. That is decidedly not the case in the CRO/TR side of things. This is not a new thing; it has been that way in my experience since COT and SIRIUS. Which takes me back to CODE is who we thought they were. They have chosen to get back up off the mat and actually try which is laudable. Yet I find it comical that they choose to come after the eUSA rather than their Balkans enemies. CODE saw the eUSA as an easy cash cow and the moment holding onto that cow became somewhat difficult they abandoned us. They then scorned us when we made peace with the invaders they left us at the mercy of. They then threatened us when we left after months of inaction on their part. They are now attacking us. Fantastic friends and Allies right there. I’ll say it again CODE is who we thought they were.

I believe Krapis and his team have done a fantastic job of fostering closer relations with Asteria. I recognize this is not easy for everyone. People in this game tend to have long memories, and just months ago Serbia and Asteria were the monsters under the bed for the eUSA. Yet here we are under massive imminent attack yet again. Fight hard eUSA this time you will not fight alone. The difference is this time we will have willing friends to stand by us and push the invaders back. This time there is a military solution to this situation. Because Asteria is who we hoped they were back in May when my team and I approached them about a NAP.

As always I thank you for taking time to read. I’ll see you on the battlefields.
