[NAZ4CP] Let's Make It A Debate

Day 3,270, 15:23 Published in USA USA by Azazel Romanov

Americans,

Continuing a back and forth article debate between the candidates seems like a fruitful and informative endeavor, so I will try to keep this up until the election if allowed to do so. I’d like to first start with the fact that I don’t think Wild Owl would be a bad President, in fact the contrary. I simply want this to be an engaging election and I want to keep both of us active because I think you all deserve to have competitive elections that actually result in changing ideas or initiatives. I also want Wild Owl to remain active so he doesn’t get complacent like the last time. So let’s get into what I want to talk about here. This will mostly be an in-depth look at our government Mus – USAAC and USAF. I will also address other points of his article to a lesser degree.

First, I read Wild Owl’s position on USAF and USAAC, and something stood out to me. He is optimistic about progress from USAAC and wants to give them time to succeed and grow, which is fair. I certainly would have liked to see more of that progress during this term, but unfortunately we already had a command change due to outside circumstance and only one real recruitment article. As it stands, USAAC only has 13 members after a month of existence, or at least since its official announcement (this includes the 2-3 in leadership of USAAC). That’s not exactly promising to me. To be successful, I would like to see aggressive recruitment efforts from not only USAAC officers, but from the President, CoS Media, and DoCA. We should also make sure to highlight the supply benefits of this MU extensively. You all can find current information on USAAC here and I encourage people to join this MU if you would like to see it independently successful and gain supplies in doing so.

Wild Owl then goes on to talk about USAF. He mentions the series of plans and efforts that have gone into USAF from several different administrations and how these have essentially failed or not met expectation. He’s right. USAF, to almost everyone’s knowledge, has not met the standards one would expect from the nation’s official MU. There are reasons for this: a lack of commitment from outside parties, internal disputes within USAF, distrust among stakeholders, and personal feuds. I’ve seen these, I’ve been a part of these, and I recognize that these are steep hurdles and that attempts have been unsuccessfully made to resolve these issues. What is Wild Owl’s plan? Well he doesn’t give one but mentions that these failures led to his desire to cut losses with the USAF and defund them. Great, so now that USAF is running off its internal reserves (of which there is a limit), where do we go from here? Are we going to starve USAF and hope it dies, do we shutter the MU now, or do we actually seek to address its problems instead of running away from it?

My opinion is that if we cannot fix USAF, we are doomed to repeat this cycle with USAAC down the line. My initial thought is that tying the two together, with USAAC retaining its officer corps within the USAF MU, forces us to deal with the problems of each – USAAC’s low personnel number and USAF’s management and promotion. I could be wrong, and I admit that. However, I refuse to essentially dismiss a majority of our government armed forces, and I refuse to simply take an observational stance on our new initiative with USAAC. I am not afraid to take an unpopular stance if it solves our problems.

I am glad to see Wild Owl bring up DoCA more, but I still feel he’s taking a back seat approach to this. I don’t simply want to give fingerguns the keys in the way he does for WhydoIBother and tell her to run with whatever she wants. I want to be a part of those discussions and I want to play a role in guiding our programs. Wild Owl earlier in the campaign said he was a “hands-on” leader, and I still have yet to see that. What is hands-on about giving the secretary full-liberty? He want to ensure they continually post in first-steps, and that is important, but that is simply the minimum we should be expecting from any DoCA. I want to see DoCA promotion of programs beyond reposts, and I want to see effective incentives to become a part of those programs or events. I want to see the President and CoS media promoting DoCA and actively supporting it rather than simply trusting the DoCA head. That is what we have been doing, and that is what hasn’t been working.

Wild Owl once again brought up that I am reducing people involved in the process. He also says my efforts reduce the “willingness” of people to participate. I’m not exactly sure how I’m doing that by getting rid of the VP positon, which has historically not shown a willingness to do anything. He might have a case by consolidating media, but I am going to be providing Kody5 with staff support there as well, so there will still be a number of people involved. Wild Owl is keeping essentially the same cabinet structure we have seen for the past few years, and in that time I have still seen cabinet activity reduce. Will my desires change this necessarily? I’m not sure, but I believe attempting anything right now is better than trying to maintain the status quo that we’re already failing to do.

That’s about all I have, feel free to comment or debate these points, and I look forward to Wild Owl’s possible article addressing some of these points.
