[MOME] Thoughts On A Strange Walk
av khan
Is there after-life as the prophets of old times suggested or do we all end to be apart of the food chain as the enlightened ones of the modern times suggested. Is there a God or is it just the gravity and, hydrogen and helium, that keeps us going?
Was the creation of universe, a mere chance? Or perhaps it was the part of a plan of God?
Then again if it was a chance its probability was 1 against trillions and trillions. If it was the work of God. Then what can possibly be his purpose. Why does He need to create humans when as most religions tend to suggest that its is not the God who needs us but us who need God. I say, why does anyone need a bunch of sniveling, begging, good-for-nothing cockroaches. For that must be how we must be before God. if there is a God. Or as polytheistic religions suggest. Why does God need to give powers to humans raising them to status of gods?
Scientifically speaking, if there is just a single God as monotheists suggest, how the heck can He be ubiquitous in such a large universe?
And logically speaking, if there are gods of the types of pagan religions or polytheistic religions. How the heck do they work with such coordination? Because if they were of the likes of the humans as also the polytheists suggest. They must feel jealous of each other. They must fight each other. They must have ambitions to take over the powers of others. There can't in a large probability be peace.
Yet again if there isn't a God. Why is there such a thing as soul? And we know that souls or something of that type does exist and it has been scientifically proven that some mass leaves the body right after the death.
Also telepathy is an accepted science. However obscure it may be, however, shrouded in myth and paperback fictions it may be. It is proven that such a thing at least in mild form does exist. So how can you deny God after such proof? If there wouldn't have been God how could such things exist?
They say man evolved from protozoa. And true, looking at our DNA patterns, they are almost similar to those of chimps and there is just 1 strand which separates us. Thereby the proof of evolution.
Yet it is that very strand which according to some scientists is thought not to be evolved but to be mutated. The reason due to which we get such diseases as Alzheimers and AIDS while the chimps don't. Isn't it too much coincidence that most intelligent species on the earth is a mutant?
I guess I will just end it at this. I was just taking a long walk last night at about 1 in the morning when let my thoughts wander around and then I thought why not transfer my thoughts to SMS on my cellphone so I can share it here for debate as a part of my entertainment articles project. So here it is.
Though I must say these do not represent my religious views. I am a Muslim and I intend to live and die as such. In-fact I don't even think it has got anything to do with the religion. I prefer to keep such things as religion out of game. Thought if the truth be told what I think is that the only thing this article touches outside game is 'being human.' I just like to think objectively some times with no intention of hurting anyone's feelings.
So vote it, shout it but more important read it with open mind and most importantly let the debate begin 😉

telepathy is an accepted "science" ~ were you looking to god to prove how such people exist, while you yourself said was an accepted science ? Am sure you must have heard this before that we use less than 10% of our brainpower...what if we can use it to 100% ? who knows telepathy can be explained too ?
"There can't in a large probability be peace."
@sora ~ In hindu mythology at least as far as i know, things like these happened. Indra(Zeus?) the ruler of heaven tries his best to keep his throne all the time, often unethical things(while he being a god...lol). However, a supreme god(aadiparashakti) ensures things dont go haywire.
I remember having seen a documentary long back on ppl who can see colours when they hear sounds or something like that. I could not find it on web now, but please go through this: http://listverse.com/2008/06/28/9-extraordinary-human-abilities/
Aah those 1am walks ... I love those & the thoughts & ideas they throw up.
The article of course touches on a wide variety of subjects & points of debate and my comments on them would hardly do justice to the topics. For me personally, the issue that I always gravitate towards is not so much the existence (or as per my belief, the non-existence) of a supreme 'being', a God - but the infinite possibilities of the human mind and being & the source of that power.
As a Buddhist, my beliefs are based on the existence of the Law of cause & effect, a sort of energy source one might say, that is as much existent within the microcosm of our lives, as it is in the entire macrocosm of the entire universe and all that is within it. How we tap into this power source (by whatever name we call it), and what difference it actually makes in our life - that imo is the question we should be asking ourselves.
To simplify it, more vital than the issue of whether God exists or not, is whether any belief structure that we adhere to actually enhances the quality of our lives, adds value to the community & environment we live in & enables us to actually work for others happiness & not just in a wishful thinking sort of way.
tl:dr: Do our beliefs empower/enable us to lead happy, meaningful lives?
Do our beliefs empower/enable us to lead happy, meaningful lives?
+1
Hmm... We must be kinda similar, since I also once thought about such stuff on a similar walk, expect it being a 6 PM one.
Alright, going back to topic; I, after thinking for days about this topic, arrived at this conclusion less than a month ago: There must be a God, and He must be one.
Reason:
I'll speak using science and logic. So, there are 3 major possibilities about the creation of the universe that I can think of. There are other minor ones, but those are explained in these three as well.
1) The universe was created by one of the heavenly bodies, e.g. The Sun.
2) The universe came into existence on its own.
3) There is presence of a God, who created the universe.
Now, the 3rd one can be divided into monotheism and polytheism respectively. And the reason I chose monotheism will also be explained briefly.
Alright, I'll be brief about it as I got around a thousand characters left.
Explaining the 1st one:
We know that mass can't just come out of nowhere. Though energy can be changed into mass, right? So, for creating as much mass as this universe has, there must be a either a great amount of energy used, or a being that is not bound by the laws which bound us did it (The third possibility).
But so far, at least I do not know of any such heavenly body which can posses that much energy.
2nd one:
Alright, as you earlier mentioned, there's one in trillions and trillions of chances that such a thing could happen, which is damn hard to happen. But lets say that somehow, such a thing did happen, I doubt it all coming into a perfect order.
Still, lets suppose that it all just happened to be like this. Logically speaking, it would need some kind of governance. And as you yourself mentioned earlier, there is nothing in my knowledge except the religion I follow(Islam) which tells me about the soul.
3r😛
If there is such a being, then probably we would be unable to understand Him. And logically, if all other options are not right, then the last one must be. -Continued
So, now I will be talking about the sub branches of the 3rd option, i.e. Monotheism and Polytheism.
Lets start with polytheism,
If there were more than one God, then surely one would be superior than the other and so on. So, in other words, one must have created the other. Or even if we say that they were all existing from the very start, there would be contradictions in their opinions, and the way the want the world to be. But if we open our eyes and look around ourselves, we see no contradictions in the order the world flows. Its perfect!
Now, monotheism:
Like you mentioned earlier, how the heck can one being be able to do every damn thing and be present and every single place?
The answer is simple, if there is such a being that is not bound by the laws others are, and who has incomparable and uncountable abilities, then we cant possibly know the limit of His greatness. Neither can we compare Him with us. As we would be creations while He would be the Creator.
I can explain why did I choose Islam out of other monotheistic beliefs as well, but my wrists are already tired from exercise and I am running out of fuel.... So, maybe another times if you guys want me to do it.
If you can suggest me any other possibility or tell me of some mistake in my belief, then please let me know. I'd love to crack my brain and think about it!
Oh, and one last thing: This is NOT meant to say that others are wrong or to insult anyone's belief. Since first of all, even my religion doesn't allow me to do so.
