[MoFA] A review of eUK regions

Day 5,689, 14:21 Published in United Kingdom North Macedonia by Foreign Office

Having seen Congress will be discussing regions and TW’s, a subject which is coming up more regularly, I have reviewed the current situation with the aim of sharing the rational as to why the map currently looks the way it does.

The eUK Currently holds 5 of its 12 original (core) regions plus 4 regions abroad.

eUK Cores

There are 2 broad categories of regions within our current borders :
- Economic Regions (Both UK and Partner Held)
- TW regions

Economic Regions - shown in green
These are regions which the government have set up as preferred destinations for UK businesses to ensure that the appropriate bonus levels can be found. To this end reasonable efforts are made to avoid fighting in these spots. It's worth noting that while Scotland is defined as a economic zone the main aim is weapons production, to this end a trusted partner is invited to occupy Scotland for the 200% weapon bonus.

Economic Zone Regions - Yorkshire & Humberside, Scotland and North East of England

TW regions - shown in red
The rest of our core regions are defined as TW regions. Currently 13 TWs are in rotation (although not all in our cores - more on that later). Eventually determination builds up and a reset of these are required typically through a small rotation of our TW partners into new zones - which you are currently seeing.

TW Regions - North West of England, West Midlands, East Midlands, East of England, South east of England, London

Northern Ireland
NI is a bit of a special case, originally a UK core but has long been managed by Ireland/3rd party by a previous and now long outdated agreement.

The current status quo however is mutually beneficial for both the UK and Ireland.

Benefits to Ireland
Additional TW region without taking up one of their limited cores

Benefits to UK
- Limits exposure to Scotland (and our 200% production bonus) Note: Unlikely to use NI as TW region as this would require attacks to and from Scotland (only UK border) so limited strategic value to hold.
- Improved relations with our neighbours, which we can leverage as a neutral to maintain positioning / reduce risk of wars across our cores.

Renegotiation of the arrangement around NI would need to be carefully managed and in both the eUK and eIre interests beyond the current arrangement - which is likely a high bar - to be successful. Current government position is that the current arrangement is sufficient for ongoing economic security and national stability.

Regions occupied by eUK

Occasionally we also go on some holibobs to other lands for a bit of sun, sea and BH medals. Invited by the host nation to airstrike into one of their core regions, this is like the TW regions section above just reversed.

Foreign Regions Held - Tuscany, Victoria, Zona Central, Chagang

Hopefully this is useful both for the public and to provide as a source of information for upcoming Congress discussions.
