[MoE] Dicatorship: Abolish or Uphold?

Zoals je weet hebben we in eNederland al een lange tijd een speciale dictatuur (lees meer daarvover hier). Een tijd geleden laaide discussie op of we dit systeem moeten behouden of dat we het moeten afschaffen. In dit artikel zal ik proberen een objectief overzicht te geven van de voor- en nadelen van het dictator systeem.
Pro-Dictator:
Met een dictator zijn we beschermd tegen buitenlandse MU's die een coup willen plegen in ons land. Er kan namelijk geen coup gepleegd worden als er al een dictator is.
Anti-Dictator:
Met een dictator zijn we volledig afhankelijk van de eerlijkheid van de dictator. Aangezien hij/zij absolute macht heeft en toegang tot alle organisaties en dus al het geld.
Conclusie:
Beide risico's zijn erg klein, aangezien de kans op een buitenlandse coup zeer klein, en vrij goed te voorkomen is.

Daarentegen hebben we wel een zeer klein congres, waardoor we een relatief makkelijk doelwit zijn voor een PTO. Met een dictator hebben we een soort tweede verdedigingslinie, als het congres valt, is er altijd de dictator nog.
Bovendien is de kans dat de dictator de macht grijpt vrijwel nul, omdat de dictator gekozen wordt uit de meest loyale en betrouwbare spelers in eNL.
Financiën
Pro-Dictator:
Ten eerste levert de dictatuur ons 65 goud per maand op voor de staatskas (1x 50 goud voor de True Dictator medal & 3x 5 goud voor de Dictator Trainee medal). Ten tweede kost een revolutie om de dictator weg te halen ons minimaal 1.000.000 NLG.
Anti-Dictator
Zonder dictator krijgen alle leden van het congres weer 5 goud voor hun Congress Member medal. In de afgelopen 5 maanden hadden we gemiddeld 27 congresleden. Dat is 27x5 = 135 goud per maand, hiervan gaat 50% naar de staat, wat beteken
Conclusie:
Zonder dictator zijn we maandelijks beter af, tenminste als we meer dan 26 congresleden hebben. Als er minder dan 26 congresleden zijn, verdient de staat minder dan met dictator, maar wordt er in totaal wel nog meer goud verdiend (goud wat naar de congresleden zelf gaat). Als we minder dan 13 congresleden hebben, is het totaal verdiende goud ook minder. We zitten momenteel in een neerwaartse trend van congresleden. April: 33, Mei: 38, Juni: 27, Juli: 22, Augustus: 17.
Als we de dictator afzetten, dan moeten we er wel zeker van zijn dat we een groot genoeg congres blijven hebben om winst te blijven maken t.o.v. de dictatuur EN de 1.000.000 NLG van de revolutie terugverdienen!

For some time now we have a special dictatorship in the eNetherlands (more about that here). Some time ago the discussion arose if we should keep this system, or if we should abolish it. In this article I will try to give a objective summary of the pros and cons of the dictatorship system.
Pro-Dictator:
With a dictator we are protected against foreign MUs which want to attempt a coup in our country. For with a dictator in office there can be no coup attempt.
Anti-Dictator:
With a dictator we are totally dependent on the honesty of the dictator. Because he/she has absolute power and access to all organisations and therefor all the money.
Conclusion:
Both risks are very small, since the chance of a foreign coup is very tiny, and it is pretty decent to prevent.

On the contrary, we do have a fairly small congress, which makes us a relatively easy target for a PTO. With a dictator we have a second line of defense, if the congress falls, we still have a loyal dictator.
Moreover, the chance that the dictator commits treason is near to zero, since the dictator is chosen from the most loyal and trustworthy players in eNL.
Finances
Pro-Dictator:
Firstly the dictatorship earns us 65 gold per month for the treasury (1x 50 gold for the True Dictator medal & 3x 5 gold for the Dictator Trainee medal). Secondly a revolution to remove the dictator would cost us at least 1.000.000 NLG.
Anti-Dictator
Without a dictator all members of congress would get 5 gold for their Congress Member medals again. In the past 5 months we had a average congress of 27 members. That is 27x5 = 135 gold per month, of which 50% goes to the treasury, which means 67,5 gold for the treasury and 67,5 gold for the members of congress.
Conclusion:
Without dictator we would earn more gold per month, if we have more than 26 members of congress. If there are less than 26 members of congress, the state would earn less gold than with the dictatorship, but the total earned gold would still be higher (gold that goes to the members of congress). If we have less than 13 members of congress, the total gold earned would be less than with a dictatorship. We are currently in a downwards spiral concerning members of congress. April: 33, May: 38, June: 27, July: 22. August: 17.
If we would abolish the dictatorship, we have to be sure we have sufficient members of congress to make profit relative to the dictatorship AND cover the 1.000.000 NLG costs of the revolution!

Anyway the risk of an MTO is small and indeed can be prevented with help from allies. The political situation and the risk of PTO however is indeed a risk we have to consider carefully. What to do!
Even though the risk is very low in case we abolish the dictatorship, it's not hard to create a multie and start a MU if someone wanted to do so. A bit slow yes, but doable.
They would still have to pay 1mill cc + win the war. The last 3 attempts have been unsuccesfull because of massive support from allies and friends.

I would say "down with dictatorship". Yes it has served us well in the past, but things have changed. Like we won the last 3 attempts of overtaken our country we will do that again and again.
Lang verhaal kort: het is hoog tijd te stoppen met dit dictator gedoe.

Stop de dictatuur!
In de categorie Veiligheid ontbreekt mijns insziens absoluut het gevaar op een PTO. Het is niet moeilijk om verkozen te worden voor ons congres, en vervolgens buitenlanders binnen te laten die vervolgens ook voor congres gaan, etc. Voor we het weten worden we op deze wijze overgenomen door een groter land...
Dat wordt vervolgens vreemd genoeg bij de conclusies wel kort genoemd, maar de oplossing waar we dan in gedwongen gaan worden wordt niet genoemd.
Dat is immers een paar regio's moeten weggeven, zodat we ons congres zo klein hebben dat we controle hebben over wie verkozen wordt, en dan houdt vervolgens het Financiele aspect ook al op. 100% congresbelasting is niet realistisch, dus laten we terug rekenen met de 50% zoals we die vroeger hadden. Dan hebben we die 26 CMs blijkbaar nodig om evenveel inkomsten voor eNL te hebben. Maar als we terug moeten naar 2 regio's zitten we aan max. 20.
En het laatste punt is een beetje arbitrair. De MoC/MoE MOET juist altijd al contact zoeken met onze nieuwe spelers! Dus als dat kan onder het mom van welkomsbericht lijkt me dat juist een voordeel...
Misschien kunnen james en Zeeuwsmeisje uitleggen waarom zij voorstander zouden zijn van afschaffing. Want vooralsnog mis ik de voordelen een beetje... Misschien komen die nog als een dictatuur ons juist meer zou gaan kosten in-game, zoals aangekondigd door de admins. Maar vooralsnog geeft het ons heel veel veiligheid, zonder dat er veel tegenover staat.
Oh, en eigenlijk is het derde punt voor dictator in de categorie veiligheid natuurlijk het "Lord Jale"-effect... Momenteel hoeven we niet echt op de nationale veiligheid te letten als iemand CP wil worden. Speel je het spel net een paar maanden, dan kun je gewoon de baas van ons land worden. Want al je opdrachten lopen via de dictator dus als je er vandoor wilt met onze schatkist, dan gaat je dat niet lukken.
Schaffen we de dictatuur af, en komt er een rotte appel door de selectie, dan kan zo'n CP dat wel allemaal. Dus we worden gedwongen om minder democratisch te worden, en in feite alleen zeer betrouwbare spelers tot CP te verkiezen.
Eigenlijk is zo'n dictatuur vanwege dit aspect eigenlijk dus democratischer en veiliger...
Ik begrijp je punt. Ik heb gekozen om dit artikel kort en bondig te houden, maar blijkbaar ben ik op een paar punten tekort geschoten. Misschien maak ik later nog een deel 2, met een uitgebreide toekomstvoorspelling voor als we de dictator afschaffen.
Over het laatste punt, ik hoop dat je inziet dat ik niet 100% serieus was toen ik dat schreef. Zoiets kleins mag natuurlijk nooit een reden zijn om de dictator af te schaffen...
Ik zal het kort houden.
Geen dictator, dan zal een PTO zeker gebeuren. Wij hebben in afgelopen jaar niet 1 congres vol kunnen krijgen, zo PTO hier is het simpelste ding om te doen, denken of zeggen dat dit niet zo is is naïef op zijn best.

No dictator en a PTO is bound to happen. Last year we couldnt get a full congress, so a PTO is about the simplest thing to do, thinking or saying this isnt the case is naive at best.
In other words, if we liberate ourselves we will lose our country to foreign players and live in a multicultural environment. 80% of the dutch players *might* quit and foreign affairs might change every month depending on who is president.
well, dictatorship for protection is not a bad idea if there's a real threat. Besides the ammount of money that requires, it's more productive for a country to have its own democracy with all its particularities.
