[MoE] Communication (repost)

Day 3,005, 04:49 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Ministerie van Media en Recrui

Dear eDutch citizens,

In eRepublik communication is very important. There are different ways of communicating, which we will adress in this article.

But first it is important to know that this game is more than just one tab on your browser. eRepublik itself, our national forum (http://www.enetherlands.nl) and IRC (http://client00.chat.mibbit.com/) are all part of the whole game experience.

In-game communication

We will start with explaining the communication in-game, there are various ways to communicate with each other.

The best way of communication ingame is by Personal Messages (PM). You can send someone a message, or create a groupschat with several people (up to 30 and they have to be your friend).you can go to your inbox by clicking on the envelope:

Only active conversations of the last 14 days are shown.

The Media Landscape

The most official way of communicating ingame is by publishing articles in your newspaper and commenting on the article and the other comments under the article. You can find the latest news on your homepage:

'My Feeds'

You can also find a way to communicate on your homepage, calle😛 ‘My feeds’. There are three feeds, your Military Unit feed, the feed with your friends and the feed of your political party. These are primarily used for announcements, orders and advertisement of articles.

MU chat

The last way to communicate in-game, is the 'Military Unit Chat'. If you are part of a Military Unit, you can chat with your fellow MU members with the chatroom in the right bottom corner of your home page.

The magical place called 'Forum'

These are all options to communicate in-game, but maybe you have already noticed that there are some restrictions to these ways of communicating. for example, there is no debate area for congress members. Also there is no way to properly communicate, or chat with your Dutch fellow citizens who are not in you MU. That’s why we created the forum of the eNetherlands. most countries have a forum to communicate with each other. The most important role of the forum is to function as an area for debating with each other. It is the place where congress and government make their decisions on new laws. Every citizen of the eNetherlands is welcome to participate. The more opinions, the better.

You can find the forum by clicking this url:

IRC

Last but not least is the chatting program IRC (Internet Relay Chat). There is no way to chat with people directly who aren’t in the same MU, so that’s why a lot of people use IRC to chat with each other. Foreign countries also use IRC, which makes IRC the place to negotiate and organize meetings with other countries or allies. In the eNetherlands we have two main channels, the #eUNL channel and the #nl-gov channel. The first one can used by every citizen of the eNetherlands to chat with each other. The second one is a special channel for government members only, where they debate and decide how to rule our country, so you need a password to join this channel. The easiest way to join us on IRC is to go to http://client00.chat.mibbit.com/

You will see this overview:

You have to connect to the Rizon servers by filling in ‘Rizon [webirc]’ next to ‘Connect:’. Type in your erepublik nickname next to ‘Nick:’ and the channel name next to ‘Channel:’, for example: #eUNL. This is all you have to do to join the conversation!

Sincerely,

Minister of Education
