[GOV] UK / France region swaps

Day 1,011, 02:25 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Ministerie van Media en Recrui

As you can see in the “Latest Events” on your eRep home, we have ‘conquered’ some regions from England and ‘lost’ them again to France. Some of you might wonder what happened all in one night.

Let get one thing clear first: both UK and France are our closest allies and friends. The ‘attack’ therefore wasn’t a real attack, but a “region swap” to help them out.

UK is under attack by Canada. Canada was moving up through UK and having the initiative against them. They would keep attacking if we didn’t help them out. Thanks to the region swaps and our help, France is currently ‘blocking’ Canada, effectively preventing them from attacking the UK capital London.

So if France is blocking, why were we included?
To attack a region, you have to be in ‘war’-status in the game. As we did this blocking before, we still had an open war with UK. France, on the other hand, did not have an open war, but a MPP (alliance). If they would attack UK, the alliance would be broken, and UK would have to face Canada with even less allies. Furthermore, the declaration of war would take war too much time to pass their Congress (24 hours), making the action way too late.

France would be able to take the region from us, without breaking that alliance with UK and without having to declare war. Therefore, we attacked the regions, and the UK president immediately retreated. Afterwards, France attacked us and our president Garmr immediately retreated the battlefield. This way, we could swap the regions from UK to France in a very short timeframe, and without breaking any active alliances

This way, we did our part in helping to block Canada for our alliance Phoenix.

There is still one region (East of England) under our control. Handing this over to France or England is currently not a priority, but this will be done later on. You can there expect to see such another event in the near future.

I hope this cleared things up a bit. If required, our President will issue a more detailed explanation later, but I think I covered most of it already.

Kind regards,

Boklevski,
UNL Prime Minister
