Beste Inwoners van eNederland,
Afgelopen dinsdag heeft het parlement besloten doormiddel van een grondswet wijziging de naam van ons Land te wijzigen van “The United Netherlands” naar Nederland (eNetherlands)
De uitslag van deze stemming kan worden nagelezen in het gedeelte van het parlement waar er kan worden gestemd door de parlementsleden van eNederland. Zie hiervoor: uitslag stemming: verander naam van land naar eNetherlands

Korte Geschiedenis
de “United Netherlands” was een unie die eind april 2009 is opgericht en tot eind januari 2010 heeft geduurd toen de Belgische grondgebieden, Vlaanderen, Wallonië en Brussel geen deel meer uitmaakten van de “United Netherlands” na gevechten met Poolse troepen.

Deze naam wijziging betekend dan ook het einde van een tijdperk van The United Netherlands nadat eerder dit Jaar eBelgië zich al (gedwongen) uit de unie terugtrok en zichzelf uiteindelijk onafhankelijk heeft verklaard. Vele mensen zullen goede herineringen aan deze tijd hebben, sommige zullen met gemengde gevoelens op deze tijd terugkijken.

Nieuwe start
Deze naamsverandering bied ook een nieuwe kans voor ons als eLand. Zoals het hebben van een duidelijk profiel als land waarbij “meedoen” in deze eSamenleving hoog in het vaandel staat. De regering zal daarom ook artikels tweetalig in het Nederlands en in het Engels gaan publiceren. Wat soms enige vertraging zal kunnen opleveren, graag enig begrip hiervoor. Dear Inhabitants of the eNetherlands,

Last Tuesday, Congress decided to amend the constitution and change the name of our Country from ‘The United Netherlands’ to ‘The Netherlands (eNetherlands)’. The outcome of this vote may be consulted in the Voting section of Congress.

A short history
‘The United Netherlands’ was a union which was constituted in the end of April 2009 and lasted until January 2010, when the Belgian territories, Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels, were no longer part of the United Netherlands after fights with Polish troops.

This name change means, therefore, the end of a period of the United Netherlands after eBelgium was forced to withdraw from the union and eventually proclaimed its independence. Many people will have fond memories of this time, others will look back to this period with mixed feelings.

A new start
The name change also offers us a new chance as eCountry, like cultivating a profile in which participation in eSociety is of paramount importance. Therefore, the government will publish all articles bilingually, i.e. in Dutch as well as English. The process of translation may cause some delay, for which we make an appeal to your sympathy.
