[FED] Oldfag Interview: Starring Tiacha

Day 1,838, 20:17 Published in USA USA by Jetsmets

Me on an interview with Tiacha,
Fed Founding Mother and Marine Commander

1) How did you first hear about eRepublik?

My friend from my undergraduate days, Royamen invited me to eRepublik when it was still in Beta. He was mayor of Columbus back then, and really got me interested in the political scene, but I didn’t really get that active in the game until the advent of v1. Back in Beta, there were local elections and regions mattered for more than just bonuses. It was an interesting aspect of the game that I really wish they brought back. Ohio was a pretty booming region back then, with legends like Royamen, GoBucks, and Eugene Harlot himself.

2) You were one of the founders of the Federalist Party. Who else was important in the beginning of the party? Has the Federalist Party lived up to your expectations?

Our real leader back during the first month was Rise. He lead the revolution which broke off the from the eRepublikan for Change party, which later became the Conservative Party. The party back then had an agenda against DesertFalcon, the defacto leader of the party back then. Though the Feds later made an alliance with the Conservative Party and DesertFalcon, there were internal divisions within the party which caused a bunch of us to create the Federalist Party. Rise, however, disappeared about a month after he created the party as our leader. From there on out, it was really a leadership team of myself, Billy Flemming, Logomaster304, and Alby. I was the first elected Congressperson from the Feds. If it wasn’t for our push to get me into Congress November 2008, the Feds might not have made it this far. We can together to rally under a cause to get the national scene to recognize us as a legitimate party. We grew from there.

3) What tips do you have for a new player who is looking to get involved in politics?

-Write articles. They make people recognize you.
-Get involved with party politics. Fill out the Fed Job app. I run it as Federalist Chief of Staff and will make sure you are placed in a job in a short time. If there isn’t a job available, I will find you one.
-Get on IRC and the forums (both party and national). You’ll be more informed and people will get to know you better that way.
-Get involved in an MU. It may not help with the politics aspect, but you’ll make more friends and have more people to network with. Plus, free weapons. I’d really recommend the eUS military (JCS branches). There’s less people, but more of a chance to get involved with an intimate community and get a leadership role.

4) You went away for a while, what made you decide to come back to the game?

Honestly, curiosity. I quit the game around May 2011. I was butthurt and bitter about a lot of things and really thought I’d never come back. The game sucked back then and the military module was always changing. I had no interest in the game anymore. But one day, I logged back into the eUS military forums to see what was going on and say hi to old friends. Then people like Cstarlight, Krimpie, and Hisairness dragged me back to IRC. The rest is history. I was sucked back in. Then eliwood_sain asked me to come back to the Fed IRC room, I did, I got sucked back into the Feds. Now, here I am. Commandant of the Marines and Fed Chief of Staff. Back to my old homes, the Federalist Party and the Marines.

5) Now you're the Commander of the eUS Maine Corps. In what ways does being in charge of a Military Unit relate to being in charge of a Political Party?

The Marines don’t receive funds from the government, so we have no official affiliation to politics. I do, however, try to work with the Feds and other parties to move my soldiers around to help against PTO threats. Before the congress changes, I had my soldiers sign up as blockers.
But being a commander is similar to being a party leader in that you are a figurehead. You make decisions which affect the direction of your unit. You are the heart and soul of your MU. You a lot of times have to make decisions that are tough. But you make decisions that are for the best of your unit, just as a PP makes decisions for the best of the party.

6) What goals do you have moving forward for yourself, your MU, and the Feds?

For myself, to grow as a person. I’m a softy, so it’s sometimes hard for me to make tough decisions like discharge a soldier that needs to be discharged. I’m really working on getting a tougher skin. Also, I’m working with my friends who have political ambitions. While I really have no desire to be on a cabinet, I do have a desire to see my friends succeed. In that, I’ve really been helping John Jay, a friend and a Marine under me, with his presidential campaign. I believe he can bring about some positive changes which will help break stereotypes and cliques in this country.
For the Marines: To make sure we are on better economic grounds. If any of you have friends in Poland, Brazil, or China who can get one of my QMs citizenship, please PM me. Also, to continue to make sure they are badasses and a top-5 MU in the eUS everyday.
For the Feds: For us to continue to get new blood to develop into new leaders for the Party. I’m really happy with the development of the new mentoring program. I want to see newer players as questions of current leaders, get involved with the party, and develop into the next generation of Fed leadership.

Big thanks to Tiacha for giving great answers to all of my questions. Look for more interviews with Federalist Party members from me and others in the future. Some are even out now!(RL delayed me a bit with this one.)
