[bowen199] Military and Foreign Affairs Manifesto - Friends4Ever

"Neutrality is an important characteristic of Switzerland. And it is anchored in the hearts and minds of the Swiss population." - The Federal Department for Foreign Affairs (FDFA)

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The rationale behind our neutrality is due to the fact that we have many EDEN and Terra allies, in addition we would also rather negotiate diplomatically with our Slovenian neighbours than be at constant war with them for obvious reasons. I have spoken to officials in EDEN, Terra and ONE, who recognise and respect our position. More specifically, this means we will negotiate a peaceful resolution with Slovenia as well as sign MPPs with our allies in Terra and EDEN. As a neutral country, we will avoid any direct conflicts where possible. However, it is important that we take part in battles to gain experience which we will achieve through our MPPs.

Ministry of Defense

Our Swiss Youth Academy has achieved moderate success and will continue to support new players to become loyal soldiers. We however, have a gap in our structure where more experienced players are not equipped to take part in battles. As such, we have had to rely heavily on mercenaries in the past. In order to improve the total influence of our country in battles we need a national army which provides supplies to our less experienced players (through the SYA) as well as to our more experienced fighters. Our stronger branch of the national army will regularly reward Swiss soldiers that fight according to the set orders. An appointed General, will manage the army, while the MoD will manage the appropriation of allocated funds. As mentioned in my economic manifesto, the MoD will be provided with 60% of the government’s total budget. The MoD will ensure that in addition to regular rations there will be funds set for emergency supplies. Having a national army encourages our experienced fighters to stay in Switzerland rather than emigrate abroad and also potentially attract new soldiers. The army will not get strong immediately, nor will it compete with private armies but rather work together under the direction of the MoD.

The next article in this series leading up to the March 2012 Country President Elections, will be my Summary and closing statements.
