[Artela] Helping Terra

The sights we’ve seen...

If you remember back into last term you will remember that our bros up in Canada were having a bit of trouble with the UK and we intervened and stopped the war and returned the Canadian lands to Canada. Those who know about “game mechanics” will also realise that as this only took us two days to achieve we still had five days of Natural Enemy (NE) to use up plus the three days necessary to undeclare NE and to declare peace with the UK even though our primary mission had been accomplished. So we had a bit of fun fighting redcoats, saw the sights, and declared peace.

Now we get to the next part of the “adventures in Europe” tale... While we were doing our little tour of the UK our Terra allies (who are in deep trouble in Northern Europe) went “hang on... while you’re here... could you lend a hand?” and being the good allies that we are we said “Yeah! Sure! Point us at ‘em”... which is what led us to invading Denmark and then laying in wait for Poland to get a border with us.

So we waited, and waited, and eventually they couldn’t avoid the border any more. We had several people waiting to hit the NE button, madly refreshing the screen in an attempt to beat the Poles and gain that precious initiative that we needed, but they still managed to beat us by a couple of seconds. For those who aren’t aware what this initiative means, it’s who gets to decide when the first battle takes place, and with the Poles having the initiative they were never going to start the first battle in our prime timezone. Incidentally, the Russians also declared NE on Poland before the border was attained, but the Poles still chose to wait and NE USA.

So, here is the Northern European map as it currently stands

You will notice that we are no longer resident there as we never did manage to regain the initiative, and so battles were fought outside of our prime timezone (which always makes a large difference in our battles). It is not all bad however. We may not have done all that we wanted to against Poland in Northern Europe, but according to Terra HQ it was still helpful to our allies.

Through our actions:
- We prevented the total wipe of Germany (see light green on the map above)
- We messed with Polish /ONE plans setting them back probably a week or more
- We created two new places for Resistance Wars (RWs) to act as damage drains for their population to fight in.

What next then?

Here is another part of the Northern European map as it currently stands

Currently our allies in France are under a dual attack by Hungary and Slovenia. If you look closely though you will see that we gained a border with Slovenia and that there is an NE proposal going through our congress right now. The Slovenians don’t seem too keen on taking on the USA, and so are currently furiously trying to RW Rhone Alps back into French hands (a maneuver also known as “run away”).

That should have you all nicely up to date with what has been going on with our international affairs - as usual we have been being a good ally to our friends in Terra and supporting their efforts to retain their countries. By helping our allies we also help ourselves by ensuring they will be there for us when we need them and by keeping the aggressors in Europe away from our own shores.

All the best
