[Artela] Helping Terra
Artela
News round up time from the Whitehouse Oval Office.
The sights we’ve seen...
If you remember back into last term you will remember that our bros up in Canada were having a bit of trouble with the UK and we intervened and stopped the war and returned the Canadian lands to Canada. Those who know about “game mechanics” will also realise that as this only took us two days to achieve we still had five days of Natural Enemy (NE) to use up plus the three days necessary to undeclare NE and to declare peace with the UK even though our primary mission had been accomplished. So we had a bit of fun fighting redcoats, saw the sights, and declared peace.
Now we get to the next part of the “adventures in Europe” tale... While we were doing our little tour of the UK our Terra allies (who are in deep trouble in Northern Europe) went “hang on... while you’re here... could you lend a hand?” and being the good allies that we are we said “Yeah! Sure! Point us at ‘em”... which is what led us to invading Denmark and then laying in wait for Poland to get a border with us.
So we waited, and waited, and eventually they couldn’t avoid the border any more. We had several people waiting to hit the NE button, madly refreshing the screen in an attempt to beat the Poles and gain that precious initiative that we needed, but they still managed to beat us by a couple of seconds. For those who aren’t aware what this initiative means, it’s who gets to decide when the first battle takes place, and with the Poles having the initiative they were never going to start the first battle in our prime timezone. Incidentally, the Russians also declared NE on Poland before the border was attained, but the Poles still chose to wait and NE USA.
So, here is the Northern European map as it currently stands
You will notice that we are no longer resident there as we never did manage to regain the initiative, and so battles were fought outside of our prime timezone (which always makes a large difference in our battles). It is not all bad however. We may not have done all that we wanted to against Poland in Northern Europe, but according to Terra HQ it was still helpful to our allies.
Through our actions:
- We prevented the total wipe of Germany (see light green on the map above)
- We messed with Polish /ONE plans setting them back probably a week or more
- We created two new places for Resistance Wars (RWs) to act as damage drains for their population to fight in.
What next then?
Here is another part of the Northern European map as it currently stands
Currently our allies in France are under a dual attack by Hungary and Slovenia. If you look closely though you will see that we gained a border with Slovenia and that there is an NE proposal going through our congress right now. The Slovenians don’t seem too keen on taking on the USA, and so are currently furiously trying to RW Rhone Alps back into French hands (a maneuver also known as “run away”).
That should have you all nicely up to date with what has been going on with our international affairs - as usual we have been being a good ally to our friends in Terra and supporting their efforts to retain their countries. By helping our allies we also help ourselves by ensuring they will be there for us when we need them and by keeping the aggressors in Europe away from our own shores.
All the best

This is much better than those mentally challenged articles written by WHPR
Speaking of damage drains, why are you constantly fighting RW's in such regions as Asturias? Oh, right Spain keeps starting them. Wonder who let them regroup and resupply? I am pretty sure that damage would be better spent elsewhere.
I think Artela deserves credit for taking the time to tell her side of the story clearly and unambiguously. She's been one of the most intelligent and articulate presidents the eUSA has had.
As long as we're kept up to date you have my vote again.
Thanks for the update! KEEP THEM COMING!

Artela is neither a bad person nor a bad President. She's well spoken and intelligent. Unfortunately, her positive attributes don't make up for the fact that a real strategist hasn't been helping with battle plans for almost a year now, mostly because any of the strategists with any sense got up and left. The people left don't have any understanding of the long term game. My hope is that Glove, who was actually willing to listen to those who knew strategy, will help fix that.
Hahahahaha, you're presidency will always be remembered as a massive failure. hahahahahahahaha.

Thanks for the love Bradree.
It hurts a Norwegian viking when you say Northern Europe, and shows a map of Western Europe xD
My hope is that Glove, who was actually willing to listen to those who knew strategy, will help fix that.

so......."we meant to do that" (paraphrased of course).
This was a failure. We do not need to keep arguing about that, IT IS FACT. now let's move on to what to do now. My suggestion would be to retreat, regroup, and finally.....COMMUNICATE.
- We need an organized resistance in place in case ONE comes our shores.
- We need to communicate with the Militias in order to effectively cause damage
- We need our heavy hitters used at strategic times.
Without those changes we are weak.
Trolls gonna troll!

That's all fine but the Slovenians managed to run away quite successfully. Hungary already has a pretty good foothold in France and the Serbs are slowly creeping west through Italy (the ones that didn't get transported here by GCL at least). So question is, how do we get pro-active in kicking those ONE forces out of Western Europe because they ARE slowly getting to our shores and we sure can do without the gangbang on home soil.

@Vanek; I agree with Reala Regarding Lack of strategic planning with regard to recent military 'escapades'... JB Battlemaster makes several valid points as well.
Supported and Voted.
I just take offense to implications that our plan is bad. Execution has been poor, yes, but mostly the plans are failing because lack of damage and our inability to start RWs over ONE.
Last night, for instance, I had 20 people ready to RW Burgandy in Slovania instead of Rhone Alps. The box never even came up for us, half of us got temp ip bans for refreshing too much, and a RW was opened in Rhone Alps. Mechanically quick, one may say.
So, I won't argue that communication and execution...
have been flawed, but not strategy in my honest opinion.
Oh lord, Brad acting like he was anything but jankems patsy...and that jankems had redeeming qualities.
HAHAHAHAHAHA
strategist my
I'll also point out that the Glove Administration was the one that got us wiped (much credit to Emerick as well). So whoever he was listening to was doinitwrong
Getting wiped was inevitable, but the fact we fought it for almost two months, considering how badly outgunned we were was a testament to the Glove administration. Strategy doesn't matter when you're being attacked by an enemy twice your size. The problem was that we had pissed off all our allies over the prior few months. Emerick and Glove did their best to repair that damage, but ultimately, it's impossible to fix the problems caused by months of people not caring about their actions.
And really, Vanek, I'm sorry, but you aren't a strategist. The stuff you tried to do during the Glove and Emerick administrations was horrible. Everyone else who was there knew it. It's not a bad thing, you're obviously a good organizer. Not everyone has that. Few people do, even. Just as few understand the strategy of this game. Frankly, it's intricate, and not something you can pick up when just thrust into it.

good to see an update
I urge you all to read this http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-glove-i-see-i-see-a-recipe-for-disaster-the-war-vs-one-and-failures-2033183/1/20
Its relevant.
Artela: The fault you made is easy: you didnt contact the leaders of all American MU leaders. You cant start a war without informing the troops. It's impossible! Just read Sun Tzu and try again.
YOU NEED COMMUNICATION WITH THE MILITARY!

Thats what we call the chain of orders! If one chain link doesnt work, the chain breaks and thus happened in your amateurish warfare. It would be easy just to mass PM the MU leaders, to coordinate attacks or defenses. If you dont, you have lost the war before you start it. So now take the shit and look how ONE kicks our asses. Perhaps some of our ELITE leaders will learn something after this disaster.

"I just take offense to implications that our plan is bad. Execution has been poor, yes, but mostly the plans are failing because lack of damage and our inability to start RWs over ONE."
Makes my point for me! lmao
If you can't get damage to where it needs to be because your execution is bad, you need a new plan that takes those things into consideration. That is called strategy.

Uh, Bradree, I wasn't in charge of anything but OMS during the Glove and Emerick administrations. I was in charge of strategy during Blank Keating (reclaimed most of USA), Cerb (reclaimed rest, invaded Spain), Alexander Aucturitas 1 and 2 (Conquered Spain), Goalie (fought off Serbia, Hungary, Poland, Spain again), Oblige 1 and 2 (Wiped Spain and got 100/100 from then), and now the 2 months of Artela.
Run away, run away.
