[Artela] A Fairytale (Of Sorts)

Are you sitting comfortably? Yes? Good, then I shall begin.
Once upon a time…
...because all good stories start that way…
Once upon a time, there was a girl who found herself in an enchanted make believe world full of other people from all around the real world, and she found it was good and she made friends from all over the real world. As she grew in this new enchanted make believe world she found herself involved in running political parties and running military units, and eventually running an alliance where she made some good friends and eventually decided to move to another part of this new enchanted world to be with them.
For the longest time she was happy in her new home in this enchanted make believe world and had friends from across all walks and paths within the enchanted make believe world. She worked and was successful and made even more friends in her new home. The reason she made so many friends from across so many different walks and paths was because she always refused to get drawn into arguments between these friends, even if they were very opposed to each other.
And for the longest time this worked for her and those around her.
Then one day someone she had long trusted decided to try to make her break her normal neutral ground in a dispute between him and another long time friend. He tried to bully her into choosing one over the other. Tried to bully her into not remaining neutral. And when she would not choose him over the other he took away everything in the enchanted make believe world that she loved and had made her who she was. She almost left, but she was not the quitting type, and so she tried to make a new life elsewhere in the enchanted make believe world. But nothing was ever the same or as good.
Nothing was “home”. Home had been stolen from her.
And if you are looking for a happy ending? Well, it seems there isn’t one. How do you cope with the loss of everything you held dear in a magical enchanted make believe world when it can be taken by the acts of bullies?

Where does this tale say anything about me quitting?
It says nothing about you quitting here. I have no problems with my reading comprehension skills. All I am seeing is passive-aggressive woe-is-me tripe in this trite little encyclical.
However, I'm fairly certain that you ragequit a week or two ago and I was looking to confirm that fact. You see, 20 years of exposure to make-believe internet drama has caused me to run it all together in my mind in one blur. This blur I do not pay attention to very closely....so maybe it was you who quit, or maybe it was somebody else. Either way, I don't really give a damn.
And yet you seem to give a damn enough to make such a long reply. Odd behavior, unless of course there's an underlying reason for such a reply? 🙂

Sad, but personally, I'm the type to believe that there's always a reason to keep going if you look for it. Maybe you haven't found yours just yet?
Also, forgive me if this is presumptuous, but it seems to me that a common thread in this story is that you were consistently reliant on other people to maintain the make-up of the world you called your own, and when those people fell apart, so did your comfortable reality. Maybe what you need to do is focus on the bonds you yourself make and the things that don't rely on others?
Don't shortchange yourself and the things you can do on your own.

Artela, big picture don't sweat it. I've always known you to be honorable and intelligent. Every choice you make reflects that integrity. Sometimes, one's choices don't please others. Anyone or everyone. But you have to make the choices YOU think are the honorable and right choices, and then let the chips fall where they may.
I know NOTHING of the events you're discussing. But if YOU feel you did the best thing you could do in the circumstances, hold your head high and don't look back. You did what you COULD do, by the only judgement that matters. Your own conscience.

It pains me to say so and maybe I really shouldn't but it's difficult to view this than anything more than a fairytale after witnessing you take such pleasure in the removal of some others from their 'homes'.
Besides, no one but admin in this game has the power to tear away your home unless you're a renter or built it on someone else's property. Maybe fire you from a job or something but homelessness is a stretch.

If removal from all the places I called home by one person who holds far too much power in certain places is not homelessness, then what is?
My point was perhaps you considered the wrong places your home. Are you banned from the game? Then you are not homeless.
Did you actively do anything to prevent one person from gaining too much power over the places you called home? Or were you complicit?

There's a difference between not minding and in some cases not knowing, and in others (I'm ashamed to say) not stopping it. I will refer here to Rainy's quote, but in hindsight I'm left wondering how many of those I thought left voluntarily, didn't.
It sucks getting stabbed in the back by someone who was once a friend. But you are still the same person who gained the respect of so many, and there are other homes to be found.

Friends respect friends who say no, and if not, they're not a friend. You can stay neutral either way.
If it means anything to you, there are still many... myself included... in USWP who love you and miss you.
Thanks you. That *does* mean a lot. You know why I can't come back right now though? That one person will still not allow it.
Somehow, and I know some of you will think this naive, I still believe there are more people in this eWorld who will stand with you against bullying, if you let them, than there are bullies. Most of us older players have seen things we loved and worked for destroyed by people who thought it was funny to hurt others. You pick yourself up, and decide whether to fight it or to move on to the next thing, and if you are lucky, you will have friends who will care enough to help you either way. That's community, and it's why so many of us keep playing.
I hope you will be open to new (& old) friendship in eRepublik. Like others said, let the past be the past. Do not forget it, let it make you a bit wiser, focus to the future and have fun. That can be difficult but worthwhile. o/
This article assumes that there's only one thing to do when you can't stay "at home": wander.
When I felt homeless too, I built a bigger and more comfortable house, where many other took shelter after me. And in the end it happened what we all guess: the place we call home is the place where our beloved ones live. It wasn't such a time of decadence when I did it, but what does really make it impossible now?
Here`s my advice: "Meh.".

The thing is, no one can make you mad. No one can make you sad. To be honest no one can make you feel any emotion about anything at all. Our emotions are our own and what we choose to allow ourselves to feel. Do as you please and maintain control of your own feelings. Never give anyone else the power over you they gain when you allow another person to affect your emotions.
Man, i would love to know what happened. I was here for the start of this fiasco, where you and Jude announced you were officially done with this game, but the story wasn't revealed. And it seems I'm here at the end of it, I'm missing the middle :/
