The most fun I've had in this game in a long time (Rant)

The chorus of this is the best example of what I was feeling during the following story. Also the article later turns into a major rant.

I've been playing this game since around 2011 but with this "character" (I guess) since 2013, and I have never stuck with the game into the anniversary event. Mainly because November was also deep into the school schedule and so I had always got burnt out or distracted with other work that eRep really became an after thought. For example my first tenure in this game went from Jan '13 to Oct '13, then I think Aug '14 to maybe Oct again, and then again in Oct '16 and I doubt I stayed around for 2 weeks cause college and stuff. This time around I rejoined around Christmas since I was off, which in hindsight I probably would've come back anyway cause Covid. This is the longest continuous time I've been in eRep and it is just now nearing a year.

So, this is where the anniversary event comes in, I've never taken part in it and wanted to actually win it since everyone on here has the different skins, so it's a little challenge to give myself and shake things up. However, I'm dumb and focused more on the amazing journey event instead of focusing on reaching 80k prestige points. So yesterday I was able to get up to about 20-30k and thought that getting to 80 would be nothing. By the time I get home and have ate and everything I have like 7ish hours till day change and for the last week or so the epics have almost always started in the first 20 minutes of the battle so I'll have plenty of time to drop a lot of damage if I wait. It gets to about 1am (an hour before day change for me) and there have been no epics yet so I'm just like

So I just start dropping damage in a random air battle that is still early on that way I have plenty of time to gain prestige points, all the while I'm running the power spin on another monitor trying to gain more prestige booster things and energy bars. As I'm dropping all this damage I notice I'm basically stealing this guy's SH and know that he is dropping a bunch of damage to stay ahead.

So in my third monitor I'm quickly typing up a message to him just being like "yo I'll give you the gold so you don't need to drain damage there." Thankfully he understood but as I was sending that message I get an alert that an epic finally started, so I have to quickly stop my deployment so I can shift it to that. After only a little bit however I have only about 5 to 10 minutes left, 70k prestige, and very rapidly diminishing my energy bars, so now I've evolved into looking like this

Back to the original song I'm just having the chorus run over and over in my head cause there's no way I'm loading it up cause I don't want to risk messing with either my internet or toaster oven of a computer. So I sit there, every time the deploy finishes I reload the home screen and check if I got it and if not I spend a bit more gold on bars cause when I'm this close I don't care that I could actually invest those bars and instead want a new skin for my tank bruh, cause I totally won't get more gold. /s

And finally, with 3 minutes left I finally hit the magic number.

Now I get to do the whole thing over again, with no supplies for a new skin, for a plane, in a game, that may not exist in a few years. But this is still the most fun or excitement in a while, since I recently graduated in May this event was the closest thing to starting a 10 or 20 page paper the day of and turning it in 5 minutes before the midnight deadline.

Now the reason I'm writing this isn't just to finally finish that Junior Journalist mission and have 25 unique comments *wink *wink *nudge *nudge, but to show a bit of positivity and happiness with this game where there is so much negativity, stagnation, and apparent reluctance to play. I feel like people should start adding or coming up with challenges for themselves instead of the status quo. For example there are people that will complain that you stole their medalboohoo, now the battle I gave earlier with Killy3450 continuously dropping damage as to be ahead of me, he didn't message me complaining that I was stealing it but instead continued dropping damage. Now would he have complained if I somehow succeeded, maybe even tho I had no chance of winning that, but instead I like to think he treated it like a minor challenge and kept going as to ensure his lead, and as such was probably using equipment and energy bars he may not have used until a big battle.

This also leads me to another aspect of this game that seems to be stagnate and that is that there is no big sides. By that I mean there is CODE and Asteria, but there are also 5 other minor alliances which should give the view of multiple vying powers, but in reality 4 of the 5 are basically side alliances of Asteria. This helps me lead into my point and reference George Barkers recent article, where he goes over how a couple Indonesians switched sides years ago and help the US cause "You need two sides to make a game, a game." Instead of fighting for their country, where they would have most likely earned production or any other things (I have no memory of how the game worked back then), they fought for the US because it made the game more exciting. So in my opinion, while CODE has more members they are not really on the same level of Asteria, and as such makes the game quite boring and filled with TW's. I wish there was another EDEN vs. ONE, or CoT vs. TWO. Most people say since so few people play the game now compared to then, that it will never happen. But I believe that since people can drop such huge amounts of damage it should make up for smaller amounts of people, and still have a degree of chance and concern if two equally powered countries are fighting. I feel this doesn't matter unless major power alliances are broken up, but that would require people to look at eRepublik not as what is the best for me to earn more medals, but instead what would shake things up. Like Apollo vs. Hydra or Nebula vs. Pacifica, maybe even a split in CODE or Asteria, where half go with Romania and half go with Serbia or half go with Hungary and half go with Croatia and both sides just fight, as to have some difference in this game that's been effectively the same for a long while.

Now that my ramblings are done, and I was able to tell my little story while still addressing something I see in the game, I'm curious what other people think. Do you think I'm right or wrong, am I just blind and there's a huge war going on right now between equal sides. Does everything I said not matter because no one cares enough about the game to make a slight difference just because why not.
