The Internal defeat of democracy
Sir Humphrey Appleby
Following the alarming congressional results where the TUP and their rebellious daughter PCP won a combined 60% of seats within the House of Commons, it was disturbing to find that they had only won only 273 out of 936 votes. This translates proportionally as only 29% of the vote. This is in contrast to the UKRP winning 240 votes (25% of the total vote) and only returning 7 members to the House of Commons, a staggering difference of almost 30% to the TUP (who won 18 places). This post-invasion result has led to the formerly largest party in the eUK, the UKRP, to halve its number of seats with a relatively similar amount of votes cast.
This colossal defeat of democracy to congressional elections has been reiterated in former months with the several uninterrupted CP victories almost always in favour of the TUP fielding relatively unopposed candidates as the other parties of the eUnited Kingdom continue to suffer very little power in the legislative body of the country. This miscarriage of the mandate of the people to rule the country was shamelessly demonstrated in the recent vote to surrender the national chat-room out of the impartiality of neutrality and into the hands of the TUP Organisation itself. The latest vote to return it to a national and neutral administrator of ours, Kumnaa, was defeated on 13 votes to 13.
The fact that our national assets are now freely being taken over by the TUP with absolutely no safeguards on their power is a monstrosity to the several years the Commons has had varying political parties, reiterated by free and fair elections of congress. The work of all opposition parties, which has been colossal this month, has gone to nothing simply because of the overwhelming mobile voting administration by the TUP, fielding party-puppet candidates for congress in now uninhabited regions, where EDEN steamrolled defending British forces barely a month ago. This causes genuinely dedicated candidates form other parties to be defeated not on merit but on moving tickets.
As a result of which, it has led to a puppet Parliament in which a TUP Premier has had absolutely no opposition or scrutiny from. Government policy is TUP policy; the wishes of the other 71% in congressional votes go unheard and unrepresented. This coming Country Presidential election gives us, the British public, the chance to finally make clear our extreme dissatisfaction of TUP supremacy in the county. For us to form an Administration of this scale and complexity is a serious undertaking in itself; however, with the blessings of both time and patience, we shall eventually overcome the daunting enormity of the work ahead of us.
Vote GLaDOS!

Congrats you have figured out Congress Elections aren't fully democratic. Haven't been since the start of V1.
Wait *Notices date*
It's a shame to see that some very active, very experienced and good candidates could not get into congress because of the mobile voting. Let's all hope that V2 will be a more democratic place, because for the moment the political part of this game is just al about mobile voting
I had hoped when you came back you wouldn't talk out of your arse.
Looks like somebody is upset about not getting elected. Cry more.
SB wasn't even running, Hulk. He's just stating obvious facts.
Can Glados change the system or not ? If he can will he do it ? A higher PR would be nicer.
It would also be nice that smaller parties could field candidates.
I see some members get into Congress with a little numbre of votes, whereas some parties actually have more members and get no representation.
oh, for gods sake.
1) more than 400 votes were cast for the UK-left this election
2) just because we're better at floating than you doesn't mean you can call us dictators - we didn't cheat the system.
3) you can do it too if you tried at all - we put a huge amount of effort into floating every month - and in theory, small parties should be able to do it much more effectively than larger ones.
4) how dare you say that TUP candidates are puppets or less good than other candidates. That's an absolute fallacy, and I'm really dissapointed you can say something so stupid.
5) Dishmdcs was a right wing president, who was in power for the last two terms before Karacticus.
basically, if you're so butt-hurt that you start complaining and, if I recall Tom Phillips desperate recruitment message, cajoling TUP members to join because you'll let them stand regardless of personal merit, you should just ragequit and do us all some good.
rebellious daughter... since when did daughters have sex with their dads to make their mum's?!!! (figuritivly ofc) FRITZEL!!! 😛
Tom Phillips did it without asking us first, and it was not endorsed, so you know.
I fully agree with this article though. We can do it just as well? You know nothing of the effort we put into floating.
I agree that floating in general is not a good way of winning elections. Especially considering 90% of votes out of London right now are mobiles, that is not democractic at all.
Are TUP scared they'd lose without using their mass of floaters?! You scared that democratically, you have no chance? Seems like it 😉
democratically, the left have more party members than the right. We put a huge effort into getting floaters as well, but we have more people than you. Point is, UKRP can still easily get 10 or 11 people in had you focused your candidates and floating - if you didn't have too many people, you could float them in without too much trouble (/me is not an election guru - inb4nowecan't). IMO the voting would be better if it was proportional representation, but voting is always flawed. And btw
inb4aprilfools (possibly)
I'm a Spammican and proud.
Now to mention your previous crimes or not to mention your previous crimes...
His previous crimes mean nothing in this argument Karacticus..
Coram.. no we can't 😉. We focused as much as we could, but it just didn't work. Why? We had like 11 candidates in! TUP then ninja kicked them out with their floaters. IMO there should be a system, where there are maximum floaters allowed.
Not that it would ever happen, too many cowards 😎
Face it, TUP have more active people than you. 'Tis just the way it is for the moment. There was a time when UKRP was the huge juggernaut of destruction.
Or darkmatle, it could just be that you all hate your PP and that he does nothing and that your election co-ordinator and PP cba to be there on election night...
TUP were better organised and put alot more effort in obviously, it is so bad to have a government that has these credentials?
Okay, towards the end you just start trolling and being a generally annoying Winston wannabe. TUP have had the largest influence in the eUK for many months now and we have taken some decent steps internationally and military wise. This article is more likely to stop me voting Glados than make me want to.
What ? You can vote more than once if you move ?
@Melophore: No, but certain seats (ie, Wales) are won on very few votes and a single vote can sway it. So efficient political parties get their active members in London to move to other regions where their vote will make more of a difference.
This article is almost as bad as the ones Winston did...
If the left wing parties are the ones with enough organisation, activity and dedication to organise successful floating voting, why shouldn't they have the biggest say in how the country is run? You complain that you have more members, but what use are they if they are uninformed, inactive and not even dedicated enough to move to another region to vote?
"Or darkmatle, it could just be that you all hate your PP and that he does nothing and that your election co-ordinator and PP cba to be there on election night..."
😮 I'll have you know we were both there in the final hours and tried relentlessly to gather what floaters we had left. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be 🙁
Haha my letters annoyed TUP, do you really think that I would have gotten members from the levels 18-20, it was a set up for this article which SB had been telling me about. Once again TUP start moaning when anything is said against them. 😉 way to kill democracy.
@Damian
And I AM the congressional director. Steve and I worked extremely hard, and we had about 5 active members helping us too.
Either way.. yes, TUP is killing democracy. Once V2 comes out, I would love to see a decrease in the amount of floaters, since hopefully people will move back to their regions.
No TUP and most people with common sense disregard the article as a pile of horse manure and proceed to tell the author and anyone else how bad and wrong it is.
Perhaps George, you would like to explain the Nation's chatroom incident then?
True dat SHA.
George.. seriously.. if TUP think they are SOOO awesome they'd have no problems doing elections democratically! Of course, they are, in reality, too scared 😉
GLaDOS for democracy is also rather silly, btw. He was part of TEH CABAL for those of you that remember.
SHA, changing the chatroom is enough to turn a respectable party into a threat to the eUK and her citizens?
Darkmantle election floaters are part of the game, also i dont get your point, TUP are undemocratic because they are better organised than you? 😕
Just sounds like some UKRP members are butthurt about TUP beating them again tbh.
Also SHA are you sure your not a winston multi? Cause your really starting to sound like one.
I'm Saint Benedict, not Winston.
People are free to choose which party they join. Fortress London has lead to an increase in the requirement for floating voters. All parties use floating voters out of necessity, so saying one party is responsible is stupid. You are failing and are trying to lay the blame elsewhere. It would be nice if we were able to have populated regions again and restore constituencies but it's not something that will happen before V2. That's not down to any single party.
"And I AM the congressional director. Steve and I worked extremely hard, and we had about 5 active members helping us too."
Wow a whole 5!?
Cool 20 votes by the way. Really shows how much people think of you, especially since you've been advertising this all day.
All I hear is a sore loser
The loss of hospitals and inevtiable concentration of the populace in london leads to people moving to empty regions to vote and then moving back. If a party as big as the UKRP can't mobilize it's voters to adapt to the current climate then it's too bad. Stop whining, learn from your mistakes and do better next time.
I got 8 votes in my region without using a single RFA mobile voter.
And yes, that was the #1 position.
So.. yeah
