Some useful article keyboard shortcuts and tricks

Day 4,808, 21:21 Published in Ireland Ireland by Releasethe Krakken

Keyboard shortcuts when you are typing an article:

1. ctrl + b places your future text in bold. like this
2. ctrl + i places your text in italics like this
3. ctrl + u underline your text like this
4. ctrl + l somewebswite opens the url window so you can create a hyperlink to redirect your readers to another website. just pasting a website will also redirect them when they click on the link. lets just say the url hides the actual website address.
5. ctrl + p lets you paste a link to a picture in a textbox that shows in your article like this
6. ctrl + v paste a link or text. ctrl + c copy it. ctrl + x cuts it.
7. there is no keyboard shortcut for pasting your email here like this.
but unless your email is disconnected from your erepublik account and yourself i would not do this
8. ctrl + s strike through your text used by me if i want to say something but rather decide to go with something more tame for example planktonplato this can be used for great comedic effect.

9.there is no shortcut for youtube, other video. clean(delete your entire article) and preview. other than youtube videos i never use this links.
10. select all cut and paste in a wordprocessing program if you want to make certain your article remain for austerity(it dont get deleted by the e-pics)otherwise you will from time to time see a saving draft message above the article that is triggered each time you type on your keyboard after a delay. if for some reason you are no longer in erepublik you can return to your newspaper and post your saved article.

A Scanner Darkly

is of course a book of fiction by Phillip K Dick Its perhaps a slight biography of Dick's earlier life when he was a drug user. In the back of the back is an appendix where he list what happened to him and his friends.

Anyway as we have see there is a new privacy policy by erepublik. I am not going to discuss much about it.

For me it was never a big concern what websites gather about you.

Another app basically forced us to accept a new privacy policy. So this made me a bit paranoid as I read that the 2 founders of this app had both left the one when f* bought them and the other when this new policy came into being.

Still guess the new update by erepublik was perhaps just to bring it into line with new eu laws . If you read it carefully there is mention about the GDPR which is the eu law that rule over privacy issues.

Anyways please read the privacy policy. There is no mention by erepublik whether we can stop them from collecting the long list of data they gather. Not critic or flaming dear moderators just comment :F. Please go through the list it starts with erep gather some information to run the game but i think all websites have access to other information as well. perhaps whoever composed this just misunderstood what erepubliks intention was and that is just to clarify that as a website it has access to information and by law must inform users of its website in terms of EU regulations that it has access to this information. As i stated this is comment not critic. dont construe this as critic.

Here is a few things I found
1.As a general precaution search for google dashboard and turn off broader stuff like location etc if that is a concern to you. ofc one these days on google maps identify the location of your business. And google connect it somehow to your viewer dashboard and the information you share with it seem every day. It seems here you can also manage permission related to your google id ie the account that you use to make comments on youtube videos.
2. incognito mode dont save your web history but it seems websites can still access your broader information.
3. does switching browsers disconnect you from "google" I guess it would. edge doesnt have the broader functionality of google such as google maps so you would kinda dissapear of the map as they say. but perhaps that is what you want.
4. you download the mobile app from google (android is google) and again everything is connected to a google id. no recommendations here 😉
5. you can go to hamburger menu (the 3 dots or ellipsis)(chrome settings) - >

settings -> privacy and security -> site settings -> view permissions and data stored across all websites -> erepublik.com

you can block now on a individual site level what the site can and cannot gather . here is why i think these are tick the boxes stuff. the GDPR requires a company to divulge what information it can access. obviously if you use say chrome then a website in chrome can access all of these information. i toggled of most of the stuff most was toggled off anyway i left on javascripts as i think erepublik uses it to run the game. the game still functions so this is a very good way to police what you share.

6. if you live in a country where erepublik is banned then i would say use this https://landing.google.com/advancedprotection/
7. when you enter erepublik there is a cookie setting click on cookie settings and deny all. erepublik will still work.
8. delete all cookies and your browser history.

2 Degrees of seperation

create a google account ( a new one) go to dashboard block location etc . ofc dont use your real name 😛 login to this account. then atleast most of your personal information would be hidden from websites. you can create a shortcut on your desktop of this new account that will immediately enter chrome and connect you to this google id. ofc you wont be able to sync your bookmarks etc but i find i mostly create massive haystacks so havent even bothered on this computer to sync my bookmarks etc

i think some people have this site connected to other sites such as facebook etc. same principle .
9. google further. i would google what chrome can gather from you. how they do it and how you stop them from gathering and sharing this information. what you share on the internet should be your choice and you can with proper research fine tune what you share.

10. always take the red pill (the blue pill puts you back in "false sense of security" and privacy.

11. dont get blaze about securing your information. is it good to go out naked into the streets of your town? so why do you want to go naked on the internet with every bit of your information accessible to whoever.
