Presidential Election Coverage : Day 3,815

Day 3,815, 16:42 Published in Canada Canada by NerfMinions

As part of what we hope is going to be a monthly series, the Alberta Free Press is going to be offering high-quality, exclusive, coverage of the Canadian Presidential elections in an effort to "liven" up the media scene here in Canada.

The Alberta Free Press seeks to be an "intelligent, forwards-thinking and relevant commentary" on the issues and events of eCanada, and we hope that this article reflects that.

We posed the following question to all of the candidates : What do you have to offer Canada, and why should we vote for you?

Warning : It is a bit of a long read, but it contains good pictures and interesting information from all four candidates who gave us interviews.

Thank you to all of the candidates, and best of luck on May 5th!

The Alberta Free Press braved the flight up to Iqaluit to meet with our first candidate.

First to respond to our request to an interview was TBRaiders, of Rylde's Whorehouse, who happily obliged and sent us some information about his campaign platform. He explained to us that although he "hasn't been an active player for a while", he would love to add a Country President award to his trophy-case. Additionally, out of the goodness of his heart, he presented to us his campaign platform. Simply, any Canadian who helps him to achieve his goal will be granted with some tanks and food to help in the development of our country.

We're not sure if we're doing his excellent campaign justice, so attached below are some screenshots that he sent over to us. Once again, thank you for responding.

A picture of the tanks in his garage, or as he stated, "just to prove that I can pay up."

This one was easy. NerfMinions himself drove a few blocks into Downtown Edmonton, Alberta, where he met with Mann551, current President of Canada.

He had the following message for Canadians across the country.

***
I am coming close to finishing my first term as Country President. It has been an eye-opening experience for me, getting to see just what it is like to lead a country. I have made a few mistakes, but I've learned from them, and I look forward to having the opportunity to continue to improve in this sense.

Over the past month, Canadian citizens will have noticed that there have been weekly updates about what is happening in our country, what the government has been doing "behind the scenes" and any world events that could have an impact on Canada. Should I be re-elected, Canadians can continue to expect these updates from me on a weekly basis.

As well, I had some strong hopes for getting Canadians directly involved in a war to add some fun to the game. While it wasn't exactly what I was planning on, our fight to help free Estonia while Chile and Argentina occupied them did kind of accomplish that goal.

In the coming month, I will continue to search for politically and militarily viable options for where Canada might be able to take a trip to. In addition, in the coming month, I would like to run a Personal Development Grant, along the lines of what EZStreet ran when he was Country President.

Finally, Canadians can expect to see a budget drawn up once again, outlining expected expenditures for the month of May.

I ask you, Canadian citizens, to consider voting for me as Country President for the month of May. But even if you do not want to vote for me, please make sure to vote on the 5th.

Mann551 heads into this election as the candidate for the Canadian Progressive Party.

A lucky reporter was sent out east to Ottawa to meet with I-Bleed-Blue-93, representative for the Military Dictatorship Party.

I-Bleed-Blue-93 spoke to us as the candidate for the Military Dictatorship Party.

He explained to us that he hadn't felt that any of the nominations in the Military Dictatorship Party for President had been particularly worthy, and thus, nominated himself. He has no aspirations to become CP again, but welcomes new members to the Military Dictatorship Party and is constantly on the lookout for engaged and worthy future leaders!

And for those of you who are interested, his favourite flavour of ice cream is Cookie Dough, but as a "basic" flavour he'd go with Strawberry.

Our reporters met with our final candidate, Derakor, of the Imperial Party of Canada, in Ottawa shortly after our meeting with I-Bleed-Blue-93.

Derakor, candidate for the Imperial Party, gave us an excellent recap of his policies and ideas for the next term as we walked around the canals of Downtown Ottawa.

***
Perhaps the best way to start to is present to you the Mandates of the Imperial Party of Canada. These are as follows:

1) Nationalism: The IPC wants to make Canadians Proud to be Canadian again, and give them purpose to focus on Canada, and its interests, primarily, in ALL aspects.
2) Activity: The IPC wants to promote, and help make Canada active, and full of a positive encouraging environment for all.
3) Expansion: The IPC wants to see Canada become the True, North, Strong, and Free Empire it is destined to be, by even having territory abroad.
4: Strength: The IPC wishes to strengthen and maintain a large Military Force, and focus on the needs of that military to achieve Security, and proper Expansion.

What I have to offer Canada is my activity and devotion to the idea of helping us grow by focusing on getting new players interested and restarting the meta that has long since been lost, and old players to be proud and get reinvigorated to try once again to help Canada be something greater.

The Political meta game, and other avenues or discourse have been abandoned in favour of a simplistic 2-click style of play, which is understandable, but not long-term viable activity wise. You have to give people a REASON to play, more than just 2 clicking your way to victory.

To do this, there has to be some motivation, and assistance, from the Government. This is why, I plan to attempt to implement the following ideas:

1) Re-institute, and ratify, a new Constitution to clear up and organize our society the way it used to be;
2) Push for the Official use of the Wellness Assistance Program by the Ministry of Health;
3) Ensure that the National Armament Program is fully funded and distribution completed by the Ministry of War (Currently Ministry of Offense);
4) Introduce a new way to organize our Armed Forces with regards to the mechanics and the MU system, which would be run by an Umbrella Corporation/Group named the Canadian Forces;
5) Introduce new taxes in order to help fund our treasury better, and protect our market from Foreign flooding; and
6) Push for the strengthening of Canada through said previous programs, with the goal of ending our Serbian and Romanian dependence for Security stability.

That concludes our monthly coverage and interviews with all of the Presidential candidates! Please leave your thoughts and opinions down in the comment sections, and show your support! Apologies for the somewhat long article, but we hope that it was informative.

As Mann551 said, don't forget to vote on the 5th, and thank you again to all candidates for their excellent interviews!
