I bring this time an interview with president of eNetherlands - Shawtyl0w, i talk with him about many things about his country and about his term as CP and we also talk about what is happened at eUSA, today eNetherlands have only 224 citizens and only 4 lands so there is no such bonuses the president have response to this fact as well. I hope u will enjoy reading.


1. Hello to u Mr. President - Shawtyl0w, thank you for agree to make this interview with me, but before we start would u agree to introduce yourself first?

Hello everyone, thank you King Simba for taking the time to have this interview with me. My name is Jasper, I’m 26 years old and you know me as Shawtyl0w currently the country president of the eNetherlands. I recently graduated as Msc Marketing Mangement from Tilburg University. I’ve been playing this game since September 2012 when I was asked by an Estonian friend to reach level 20 help him get a medal. I’ve been serving the eNetherlands for a while now either as minister or president both nationally as internationally as part of the Orion Alliance.



2. Can u tell us about ur daily job as the president of eNetherlands?

As country president I’ve surrounded myself with some active friends who all have their jobs as ministers in my government. As president I try to give them directions and guide them when needed as well as gather information and oversee the daily jobs of all my ministers. We’re a team in the Netherlands. I might be country president this term but most of the government is simply interchanging jobs based on personal activity.


3. What have u promote at the country since u have been there?

I’ve always supported the soldiers of our country either in the form of supplies or with currency. I’ve tried to create my own commune, I’ve tried to create a supply program. Without the support of the government these programs always died down as my activity dropped due to holidays. This particular term I’ve introduced the Green Beret program which is created to support our ground tanks. Other than military programs I’ve also been a great supporter of interaction between people. The easiest way for such activity is through means of newspapers. Because of this reason I’ve offered every eNL citizen who doesn’t have a newspaper yet to send me a personal message and receive the 2 gold required to help them communicate with the rest of the community. One of the government programs currently in place is the monthly media program where the best quality newspapers are rewarded with a monetary prize.


4. You are the CP of eNetherlands for 9 times how u do you sum up your period so far?

In my first term as president I was very opportunistic, thinking I could change the country in 30 days. Sadly I was mistaken. However over the course of 9 terms I’ve managed to slowly change some of the eNetherlands for the better or at least that’s what I believe I did.



5. What can u tell us about the economy of eNetherlands?

The economy of the Netherlands was huge in V1 (or at least that’s what I was told, I wasn’t there). Since I started playing eRepublik we’ve always been poor with a monthly budget of about 40k-70k cc. In the past year our budget has gown substantially especially after the introduction of the resource concessions. The eNetherlands doesn’t own any high value resources but we do rent out some of the low value ones we do poses. Our budget still can’t be compared with any medium or strong country but that is to be expected and can be traced back to the number of active citizens living in the eNetherlands.


6. What did u change about the way of the military?

I’m trying not so much to change our military but to keep our soldiers well fed so to speak. Young players and those with low strength are encouraged to fight in the aerial battles and those with high strength(mostly D4) are encouraged to fight in ground battles.


7. Ur country have only 4 lands, why would people will bring them factories to there when there is no bonuses?

Indeed we have only four regions in the eNetherlands. Luckily we have four I should say as it is just enough to host a traditional training war in our core regions without touching our one region that has some bonusses. Some of our citizens have decided to start their companies in this region for the benefit of the country. They are mostly players with few companies and little aspiration to build a business empire for which the bonus regions in foreign countries are more suitable. The fact that these players place the economic benefit of eNL over their personal benefit is admirable.



8. Let's go back, tell us about eNetherlands before u start to lead, tell us shortly about what was so make u say "I'll take the reins" and lead this country?

Our political party Democratisch Nederland always want to have a presidential candidate during the elections if that is possible. Last month I decided I had some time on my hands and I asked my fellow party members if I should run. As party president I’m careful not to push my own agenda and ask for permission. SO I decided to run for country president because I had the time. I also had some plans for new programs I wanted to introduce to the community. The one that has been realised if the Green Beret program mentioned earlier.


9. Why the citizens pick u as the presidents for 9 times?

During the last country elections I did not have an opponent. Maybe that was because other political parties supported me as their next country president of maybe because no one else had the time. I consider myself to be a friend of the eNL community. I hope that most players in the community trust me to do what I believe I right and do right by them in the process. This is probably the main reason citizens of eNL have elected me as president for 9 terms now.



10. Please tell us why eGermany strike some of ur lands those days?

I believe you are referred to the aggression of eGermany on our core regions a long time ago. We were both part of the NSPP the North Sea Protection Pact which consisted of couple of countries in Western Europe. One of our citizens made a trolling article about the Germans and eGermany bored at the time decided to betray our trust over this article. It was a short lived attack and we remained in a neutral relationship with eGermany after that. Again this was a long time ago and since then we’ve been doing some relationship building. We still joke about the NSPP as a pact and sometimes express our desire to turn this pact into an actual alliance. Anyway like I said we have been working on our relationship and have been part of some pro-asterian operations in the past. Currently we are enjoying a training war with eGermany who have become good friends of the eNetherlands.


11. According to eRep data ur country have only 224 citizens, can u protect ur country with this small numbers?

According to eRepublik society page our country indeed counts 224 active citizens. Sadly this is not the reality when looking at the active community. I believe we have about 50-70 active players the other 150 are citizens who never participate in any for of interaction, nor fight or train or even work. For as long as I’ve played we’ve always been a small country. We’ve managed to keep our country safe because of our foreign affairs policy. At least that is what I think. If we would be attacked by an aggressor it would be hard to defend ourselves. As Minister of Defence I was responsible for our defence during e.g. the attack of Mexico. Without the ability to use combat orders we will most likely need to ask an allied country to airstrike our occupied cores in order to liberate ourselves at a later stage. The training war in our core regions is another form of protection.


12. What was the hardest war u remember against your country?

The hardest war I remember was the war against Poland when I just joined eRepublik. Poland a super power needed our bonus regions and we had no say in the matter. We were wiped and without determination bonus had no chance of winning resistance wars. However for me personally the earlier mentioned war with Mexico was the hardest. We were fighting against an enemy who was slightly stronger at the time and I was the minister of defence. I had to manage the wars and had little sleep.



13. All the eWorld saw what happened to eUSA and I wonder where u stand on this case do u supports / does not support / refrains from take actions there?

At the time eCroatia attacked the eUSA the Netherlands had an MPP with the eUSA. We fought for them but eCroatia managed to win the wars. After a week or so many countries had launched airstrikes of their own and the eUSA was getting wiped slowly but surely. They had made enemies everywhere both on Asterian side and anti-Asterian site. Unlike many other countries we renewed our MPP after those attacks. We didn’t want to let a friend down. Many Asterian countries had claimed their regions in the eUSA at this point and we were forced to choose. Our relationship with Asteria was stronger than that with eUSA. We still have some good friends in eUSA but their government has decided to move away from their “global neutrality” if I may call it this and join the Anti-Asteria side. Looking at the world map right now I don’t blame them. Your question was about my stance on what happened with the eUSA. I think in a game like this in which eUSA has a clear advantage (52 regions) time will always see them rise and fall. I don’t think actions taken against eUSA initially by eCroatia followed by their allies and then Asteria and countries such as Bulgaria were wrong. I would have liked it if they did not punish the eUSA by deleting their congress as this is what happened to eNL and it killed our community. That was only short lived though and the eUSA although occupied have some free regions and thus congress. Today with epic wars between eUSA and eSerbia I will fight for Serbia as a good ally is supposed to. Times change.


14. If u could change ANY THING in this game tell us 1 things u were pick to change and why?

One thing. I would change many things If I had to name just one it would probably be the way divisions are currently divided in combination with a new formula for getting strength. Strong players should receive less strength when training than weak players. Divisions should be based on experience plus a cap on strength. The levels can even remain the same that way but reach > X strength and you will move to a higher division anyway.
