I really love my job.

Day 3,136, 22:59 Published in USA USA by Aeriadne

Some of you may or may not be wondering why I don't publish here anymore. To the casual observer, it might - in point of fact - appear as though I'm mostly dead. This could not be further from the truth.

Just about every day for the last four months, baring a couple periods of absence, I've written the Press Briefings and posted them in the Executive Board. I don't repost them here, though Custer and Dinnyin before him were kind enough to republish them in the Chief of Staff paper, but I have diligently and without real failure kept my promise to myself: that I would do this job on a consistent basis.

As of tonight's Briefing, I've written 64 of these. That's about twenty more than any other Press Secretary has ever written. Most of mine have been funny, and in keeping with the satire SColbert patented. Some have been weird, bordering on creepy; the kind of thing you might hear Welcome to Night Vale do. Others have been poetic, or full of lamentations, or just straight up. I have had the best time writing them, and it's given me the greatest joy to do so in this game.

After years of struggling in real life such as depression, multiple heartbreaks, near homelessness, and trying to keep it together and put up a facade while I climb my way to become Country President in a political simulator video game, it's nice to retire to something that I know I can do well and on a consistent basis. It's nice to have some consistency.

I have enjoyed writing these for the last four months, and to my friends who don't know I do it, I might encourage you to give them a read. They're pretty alright. 🙂

Happy belated Solstice, everyone. The longest days are behind us, now.
