Half-citizenship?
wingfield
As I said, last article, I am very glad to be here.
If some people have been tearing holes in each other, that is sad. However, many of us would prefer not to get involved.
However, one thing concerns me. People are saying that new citizens who have come from the eUS should refrain from voting and stay out of politics generally.
Sorry, but this is the type of tyranny that I had hoped to leave behind in the eUS. The little message Plato sends when one is granted new citizenship makes it clear that full political rights are available. What Plato has granted, no one can take away.
I'll be voting and taking part in the political process and no one can stop me. If, apart from this declaration, I tread warily and don't make a splash, don't think that I'm here to be silent. I am just being prudent and feeling my way around.
What is the tearing hurry, anyway? It seems that lots of people have many opinions to spray around. Let that keep me entertained for a while!
Continuing to be happily looking forward to working with and fighting alongside you all.
Long live eCanada!

For eCanada and eCanadians!
You had me at, What Plato has granted, no one can take away.
There is definitely a debate over this sort of thing and I empathize with your situation, I've been there believe it or not.
The nut of the matter for eCanada is managing the risk of a PTO, eCan is used to it at the party level but not at the country level, so there will be a great deal of fumbling as we work through this.
Personally, I think that expecting citizens not to vote is an unreasonable expectation, besides, there is no way to police/manage it.
That said, to manage the PTO risk, asking new citizens who are arriving in a block to refrain from running for elected positions is a reasonable, albeit imperfect, way to demonstrate that there is no intent to PTO.
The debate continues and there appears to be consensus developing that an outright ban on running for elected positions is unreasonable and that a waiting period would be more reasonable. No consensus on length of the waiting period.
In the final analysis, I think eCanadians just need to decide how long it takes for a new citizen to act like a manic eCanadian asshole who drinks maple syrup after getting a Gordie Howe hat-trick in their local beer league. Stay tuned.

When Canada went to hell, I welcomed my Canabros and treated them probably better than I treated most of our own citizens in the eUS.
When those dipshits in my Gov went to war with my Canabros several months ago, I was a Marine...half of us fought FOR Canada, the other half of us refrained from fighting against Canada and went overseas and fought instead.
Lately, I've been thinking of where I'd like to move if I do choose to leave the eUS because it is being run by complete morons for so long I can't barely stand logging in. My first choice was Canada, mostly because I like my Canadian friends, and also because my Marine friends are up there now.
Then I read articles from Canadian people who need power so badly that they are crapping all over the same people who went against their own gov in defense of Canada...and some of the same people that were welcomed into the eUS when they needed a new home...and I want to spit in their faces.
No thanks, I'll take my damage and retention expertise elsewhere if I choose to leave I guess...where I'd be welcomed.
This is stupid, and brought on by the same type of power hungry butthats that have ruined the eUS, just with a weirder accent. Hosers.
...and piss on them for disrespecting the Marines....true loyal fighters who have always defended Canada. You all should be kissing their butts and rolling out the red carpets.
i second this

Hey, the political module attracts egomaniac a-holes in every country. We won't blame you for yours if you don't blame us for ours.
Hey I call a duck a duck whether it's my country or anyone else's. Hi, I'm Bia, nice to meet you 🙂
Or a moose in this situation.
Has eUS taken any measures to prevent a PTO?
I recall the Unity Candidate process and I recall the poison pill approach of getting away from 100/100 bonuses.
eCan is doing a similar thing, it's risk management.
In all candour, DMV has said all the things he needs to say to indicate he is not leading a PTO but then he has done all the things he needs to do to pull off a PTO. He has been caught in at least three lies. There is serious doubt cast at this point and eCan needs to move through the doubt or sink deeper into paranoia.
I hope that our government can work through it before the friendship between citizens is compromised.
The eUS was battling a PTO from Ajay and Serbia...you guys are worried about the Marines...
Come on now. LOL
Does it really matter? We'll know on the 5th if it's a PTO, there is no way DMV should have more than 20-30 votes.
No we're not worried about the Marines, we're worried about DMV.
The Marines just decided to immigrate at a bad time for our murican brothers to immigrate.
I... I think I love you.
If I make a poem using my innards would you consider having an e-coffee?

TPB: a show about walking works of art and mr. lahey
Get as involved as you'd like, Please! Most of us don't have the energy to bicker with our tireless political nitwits
If it isnt a PTO we may force them into a PTO by considering them second class citizens
Ding Ding! Winner of the comment of the day!
third-class if we consider forum users
People are scared of change and us being a small community, I would even offer to come join us at the IPC , many people move around in RL why not in this game. Welcome!
If that's how you truly feel then welcome to the fold, brother from another mother
Honestly I've never really been a fan of the eUS mil/marines crowd. But the idea of them trying to PTO any country, and Canada especially is just laughable.
Go Canada Go !
Any eCanadian citizen, recent immigrant or otherwise, deserves the right to vote and participate in politics.
Wisdom right there:
"The little message Plato sends when one is granted new citizenship makes it clear that full political rights are available. What Plato has granted, no one can take away."
unless you forget to pay your bills, then ur done goofed
Plato has compassion for all our faults and He will expiate those sins for three easy installments of €9.99.
A note from a eUS citizen (who intends to stay an eUS citizen) to eCan:
Most of your recent migration has come from people affiliated with the eUS Military, Marines, and other US-AIM MUs. I can understand why you would have concern over a PTO after DMV's recent rise to power (which I have to admit seemed opportunist and may not have really been reflective of the desires of a lot of eCan citizens), but you should understand that for more than two years, there has been a fundamental division in the eUS government with regard to foreign policy and military strategy. In the end, the more politically active players in the eUS community "won" out against our more military-minded playerbase (a lot of which are your current immigrants).
Basically, these people have had a long disagreement with another portion of the eUS playerbase. While we all work together sometimes (to great result), most of the time, there's a division that partially revolves around the fact that the Marines and eUS military differed with the more politically powerful section of the eUS playerbase with regard to the shift away from a lot of former EDEN and Brolliance countries that the eUS went through in the past couple years.
In conclusion, your current "PTOers" are largely the people who continued to stick up and fight for eCanada while the rest of the eUS drifted away from eCanada. I can understand how you guys would want to take precautions against a PTO, but to me (as somebody who is not a member of the eUS mil or a US-AIM MU and who tries to be an impartial observer), it's kind of sad to see these people be treated as PTOers when they were already largely ostracized from politics in the eUS and were probably only looking for some place to go for a more welcoming community and some tax relief. Seriously, take precautions against a PTO if you want, but don't treat these guys like second-class citizens; a lot of them were fighting for you all along.
I agree. Thank you for posting that.
thank you so much for providing context. I've asked for it in the last article but my request kind of got ignored
Must saying this is one of the most refreshing comments I read in along time. You made a friend of many marines.
This guy actually gets it, and said it better than I could.
Right on o/
wingfield, I have commented on others who have decided to refrain from their rights as a citizen of this country not to vote. I respect their decision as they are concerned they don't really understand the political landscape. That is their choice.
Anyone who is a Canadian citizen has the right to vote and for those newcomers who do wish so, I welcome it.
For those others reading do not be discouraged by the political hacks in this country. If you look closely some of them came back and have been citizens for maybe a week or two longer than you have. Nothing gives those people the right to complain about you voting.
You will never see me treating any of our immigrants as second class citizens. I welcome you all. I encourage you to take part in the elections, I encourage you to post yourt articles. Your level of activity should be celebrated, not shunned.
Do not allow the few outspoken to tarnish your impression of everyone here. They only speak for themselves.
Wingfield, understand that anybody who is suspicious of the recent influx of eUSA citizens doesn't necessarily have anything against you guys. It's all about circumstance, honestly. After a month with an American CP, who had just moved here shortly prior to running for CP, some people find it difficult to trust the Americans as a result of his actions.
The suspicion isn't against Americans, but an expectation that said person, who is still in the race for CP, would stoop low enough to have American friends come and vote him in as a PTO.
If anything, the eUSA citizens moving to eCanada are a victim of circumstance. That being said, if you inform yourselves and are indeed here for noble reasons, we will welcome you with open arms.
I hope you enjoy your stay.
That is all you have ever had is suspicions. A couple of coincidences turned into proof. Hopefully tomorrow your suspicions will be put to rest.
Though I can only speak for myself, this comment was basically a justification for those who might mistrust the influx of eUS citizens. However, I feel that the comments expressed in this article (and the comments section) gives a good explanation for it. For those of us that were unaware of the fact that they've helped us in the past, it's an eye-opener, and I'm glad it's been said.
That being said, if you're trying to suggest that, after all this, DMV3 is not suspect, and indeed the good guy, you're deeply brainwashed.
I now trust and welcome these new citizens, and hope they integrate themselves and become a part of eCanada, but DMV3 deserves no respect.
He is more then a suspect. He was convicted. He just never got a trial.
Plato should add trials as a new game mechanic. Would make arguments a whole lot easier to resolve.
We use to have a Supreme court on the forums. Trust me you don't want that.
