Craig Rossiter concedes election running over issues IRL

Craig Rossiter contemplating the general election

A sudden announcement in the UKRP PP’s weekly report indicated that their candidate, Craig Rossiter, had decided to drop out of the elections against Jamesw and Elbanaan. His reasonable performance towards the end of the CP debate, as well as his poorly received manifesto, led to his lacklustre campaign to head straight off a cliff. Although a very good candidate, the lack of effort invested in the elections almost directly meant a resounding 2nd would universally be predicted in the outcome.

Craig announced that “I quit. I have no intention of running for CP again nor being a minister again. I put too much into this game and I realised I am doing erepublik work ahead on RL work. **** that. If I ever apply for anything more than congress somebody shoot me.” Although he tried to resign; the game mechanics wouldn’t allow him to officially drop out of the running. Craig spent the last month doing a very sound job in the Ministry of Work.

Jamesw announces his manifesto

Your bog-standard manifesto

Despite getting off to a bad start by hand-picking his own cabinet; Jamesw ran a very strong publicity campaign which secured numerous influential citizens behind him and, at their collective disposal, a lot of mailing applications and manpower. He has a whole list of reforms proposed, from the military supply to the minister of work. Additionally, he has also put up a proposal for Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs) which I’m to set up after the election.

His decent performance in the CP debate meant that he could continue his campaign with the momentum still going, despite elbanaan securing the support of the new and active party, the SDP. Spectrum have decided that they’ll support Jamesw and the UKRP are now officially backing nobody, though the in-game mechanics still pledge their support for Craig. Jack Jockson, our residential pirate, is currently the 4th candidate with the support of both the Real Spamicans and the Socialist party.

The predictions

Sir Humphrey Appleby mildly amused by bidding war for the SDP

With the bombshell dropped on team Craig, it seems almost certain that Jamesw will defeat elbanaan. His manifestos were more favourable to the British public and the overwhelming manpower of his campaign team indicate that we will easily have enough firepower to conduct a serious election campaign. Additionally, the support of the TUP and what used to be the RFA gives him a very strong pasty-based support line to fall back on.

Additionally, with Craig dropped as a UKRP candidate, UKRP members will be more favourable to Jamesw’s policies than Elbanaan’s. Though many of them will probably not vote or vote Jockson instead, Jamesw is still the main benefactor of this swing.

My money though, is on the election of Jack Jockson.
