Congress?
The 25th is rolling around as fast as ever and now is the time to decide if I am willing to serve my new country in a way I have done for every other country in my e-life. It is not an easy decision, as being in Congress can be quite a hassle, with all the political infighting that we can never seem to avoid.
Nevertheless, I’ll put my head on the block. This is where I stand.
Firstly, I stand with the Canadian Progressive Front. I like their style. The party contains a high quotient of sensible and decent people.
Secondly, I don’t do forums. I play eRepublik, not forum games and their silly rules. What Plato gives, no forum can take away.
For those who say that the sky will fall if Congress members don’t use the forum, you have an awfully low horizon and heavy blinkers. People know where to find me. You want my vote, just ask, as well as giving me good reasons to vote in a particular way.
If I want to propose a law, I will. No one can stop me. The fact is, I have better things to do than post stupid proposals. If I want to impeach someone, I’ll do it, if I have the numbers. Otherwise, why waste my time and yours?
I will never support any tax proposal that goes higher than 5% and I’d need a darn good case to support it even that far.
My citizenship approvals would be mine and I’ll dispense approvals as I please. If you think that any enemy will be let in the gate by me, think again. However, failing to bring new citizens into the country is just as bad as letting in enemies. Go read the wiki on citizenship sometime.
As a member of Congress, I’ll be there to defend the country, make the executive accountable and vote the right way on important questions. End of story.
If this is not acceptable, the party president does not have to endorse me or give me a winnable spot on the ticket. Fine. Remember what you are doing, either way. And remember that I have a memory as well!
What you are getting is a player with four and a half years of experience, 17 terms in various Congresses, long military experience and also as a military unit commander, plus someone who knows how to write and use the pen more effectively than the sword.
Please consider my offer of service.

"And remember that I have a memory as well!"
Nice threat to get yourself a congress seat
No, a simple reminder that decisions affect people and that there is accountability in every direction.
I say crap on that comment and still see the comment as an arrogant threat.
All it says is if you are not given a spot in congress you will party hop til you get a congress spot and hold previous PP's responsible for your lack of dedication to the country by abiding by the rules set in place to ensure smooth transitions from the previous congress and allowing who ever (even if a threat) into the country opening it up for PTO
The difference between you and most of the other commentators here is that the rest of us are putting our viewpoints and agreeing to disagree in various ways, whereas you are ascribing sinister motive to anything I say. Time to chill, I think.
Strength and-- do we still do that?

Betting we don't still do that though. xD
I liked your previous avatar better 🙁
no we do comment deleted now
No, you do that
I also did S&H
Comment delorted!
You sound both highly irresponsible and, frankly, selfish. If you're just going to do what you want and ignore discussions because you just don't feel like going to the forum to see what's going on then you shouldn't be elected.
If that's all you've done in your 17 terms in Congress then that doesn't count for much. Voting yes or no because someone sent you a PM isn't exactly worthwhile experience.
There have been thousands of two-clicker Congressmen in eRep history, hundreds in Canada alone. We don't need another one.
Your name goes in the little black book straight away. If you are the sort that runs forums, no wonder people shy away. I notice that you are not in a party right now, so perhaps I shouldn't worry about what you say, anyway.
You should especially worry about what Chochi says.
Lol, I think we might have different uses for our little black books. 😛
No, there's no need to worry about me. I'm not out to get you (or anyone, for that matter), I'm just really unimpressed by your stated intention as a Congressman, and it seems that I'm not alone. Take that for what you will.
Yeah, you should totally be afraid of what Chochi says. He's IBB93's multi, after all.
I've heard a lot about certain people being certain other people's multies. Just radio noise, I think. Now as for a little disagreement on principle, Chochi & I can have one fine. Gonna be the start of a beautiful friendship!
the congress is the perfect example of teamplay. I respect the choice of not frequenting the forums, I even defend it. But proposing laws or attributing citizenship without generating some kind of debate (inside or outside forums) to check the waters or build support is not what a congressman stands for.
If you're not hearing the people, you're not worthy of their votes man.
I don't need a troll-dominated forum to hear the people. The game is called e-Rep and communication works well enough here.
did I say anything about forum requirements? sounds like you're not listening to me 😒
No, but you are suggesting that I don't hear the people. Perhaps I don't hear some, with a particular viewpoint, but others I hear just fine.
You clearly stated that you have better things to do than to "post stupid proposals". How can you generate any kind of feedback then?
It's like throwing a spoonful of rice at the ceiling and see if the majority sticks. It's that the kind of example you want to be?
By "posting stupid proposals" I mean what used to be called "lulz" ones or those that clearly won't get carried or are even counter-productive
So you just moved to eCanada recently, and you just sound like you have a bit of an inflated ego. eCanada needs congressmen who're willing to be sensible, and who properly represent their party. I'm not the biggest fan of the CPF in general, and even I know that this doesn't represent them.
You might think that you can just mosey your way into Congress and do whatever the Hell you want, but there are a lot of more deserving candidates in your party alone, if you're gonna be like that.
This mindset of his seems more like the old Clan Wolf when they were the AFK party.
I note that you are not in my party so I'm not that worried about your opinion. I also note that every single one of my Congress terms predated your arrival in the game.
You're pretty arrogant and close-minded in your response. Furthermore, the fact that all of your terms in Congress predate my arrival in the game is actually a negative one. You haven't been in Congress since because of your attitude, right?
Just wondering where you get off. You seem to have a pretty negative attitude about people who see things differently from you.
Oh, and for the record, this is the first time that I've been in a democracy for some time. Makes it a little more interesting to have a tilt at Congress. I've run as a blocker since my last term but have not even done that for a while.
Not sure where you got that idea. That's a pretty general statement to make based off a few comments on an article of yours. I'd also say that you're getting more negative feedback than positive here, so you can either figure that we're all crazy, or you might look at yourself.
Also, you've always been in a democracy. The game's political system's kind of built on that, whether you agree with it or not.
The eUS is NOT a democracy. It is controlled by forum strolls and party warlords.
As for the "feedback", I'm always going to expect that, when I push against a popular theme. It is just that the other viewpoint has plenty of supporters as well.

I am highly surprised you have managed to serve 17 congress terms if this has been your platform. You say you will be informed and vote the right way without visiting the forums to see the debate within congress on the matters.
When you have been around for more than just a few months you will understand how things work overall, rather than just the way the meta-gamers say it does.
I like this guy lol

In my opinion, forums are a necessary evil. There should be a place for discussion and archiving information, and rogue proposals do no one any good. I would suggest rethinking that aspect of your platform.
Don't forget the qualifications in the article about dumb proposals. As for rogue proposals, there is no such thing. Plato allows, players exercise powers and rights. Just do it wisely, that is all.
A good point, but I feel like it doesn't take away from the game to participate with Congress on the forums within reason. It's easier to communicate in an orderly fashion in a forum that is set aside specifically for that purpose.
What has to be avoided is the forum tail wagging the elected Congress members dog(s)
Frak the metagame! If you need to discuss something, write an article where people can comment. This is eRepublik and the game occurs on erepublik.com, not forummotion.com or elsewhere. If you really need to post on a forum, use the one that Plato has provided at forum.erepublik.com.
Yes this is it. I disdain the meta-game. Because I say it, some condemn me. Others agree.
You can agree or disagree with wingfield, but it won't change the fact that he's a person of principle, experienced and has a genuine non-conformist attitude.
It's hard to be indifferent to the ideas he promotes and he is polarizing the community in a good way.
Above all: he is very sincere - not something that can be said about a lot of eRepublikans.
Voted ofc.
