What would you do if you were CP for a week?

Day 1,741, 22:31 Published in USA USA by Civil Anarchy

Evening America,
Well, today’s been one hell of a day.

In, quite possibly, the highest total vote impeachment proceeding in eRepublik History, Glove was removed from office by a vote of 63 to 23. The acceptance of this proposal makes Glove the third President in American history to be impeached by Congress, and only the second to have been impeached directly against his will. As the second place candidate in the August election, it falls on me to continue as Country President until the september Country President is chosen.

Now, there’s a lot of controversy surrounding the impeachment. For two reasons, primarily. First, the person who proposed the impeachment already made two proposals earlier in the month, two NE’s to Poland and Spain, respectively. And secondly, the proposal wasn’t officially authorized by the meta-congress, ie, the Discussion - Proposal - Vote method that we use to deliberate and decide on the best course of action, and whether or not something should be done.

No doubt you’ve already seen people talking about these things, as if it somehow invalidates the impeachment. However, when you look into both situations, it doesn’t change much about the impeachment itself. While Hannibal may have been able to make the proposal based on a glitch, it doesn’t change the fact that Congress voted overwhelmingly to remove Glove from office. As for the forum illegality, that was simply a reaction to game mechanics. Hannibal’s proposal was made out of turn, and without congressional discussion. Technically, we should’ve voted it down based on that premise. However, impeachments can only be proposed once every 7 days. This put congress in a position where they had to decide between breaking their own rules, or allowing a President to go through with an illegal, forcible, alliance change. They made their call, and played it the way mechanics intended it to be played.

The Impeachment of Gloveislove was a message from Congress, stating emphatically that the legislative body of the eUnited States did not approve of the actions taken in regards to the Battle of Alliances, nor the MPPs we would be forced to sign if we continue forward. When Glove decided to put us in 4FUN, he put us in a situation where we will be forced to fight alongside our traditional enemies. Serbia, Hungary, and the United Kingdom will be MPP’d with us, and the MPPs will remain for a full month, or until we decide to break them. This period of time leaves our allies vulnerable, and our own interests at risk.

But hey
Don’t you want to win the contest?

I’ve heard that a lot. “The MPP’s are only temporary. Why don’t we just have fun and try to win, it might be cool!”
At one point, I understood the sentiment behind that sort of logic. Then, I found out what the actual prize was.
~From the Admins

"You all know the eRepublik background with the New World. As a reward for the effort, we will design a special branded background with the logo of the winner alliance that will replace the regular one for a week. This applies for all our other Social Media channels like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube. Imagine this, making your enemies wear your coat of arms for a week! This will be something to remember! Prepare your troops and bring out the heavy artillery for this will be a world in fire!"

So, in return for allying our traditional enemies in the game, and putting ourselves in a position where we could potentially lose the majority of our MPPs, we might be able to get a banner on the front page! Can you honestly argue that these two things are in any way equitable?

We all play this game to have fun, and considering the fact that the war module is basically the only substantial module we have left, we should have fun with it. However, there’s a line between having fun, and making a stupid decision. When we joined 4FUN, and put ourselves alongside Hungary, Serbia, and the UK, we crossed that line.

I’ve already submitted a ticket to the admins to try and get the eUSA moved to a different alliance with Brozil, and hopefully, they’ll allow the request. If they don’t, and we’re stuck signing MPP’s with countries we’re not friends with, then I’ll make motions to get rid of them as soon as possible. Most likely, this will take the form of re-wiping Indonesia, but we’ll see how things play out.

I’ve made a few changes to the cabinet, primarily dealing with the administrative and state side of leadership. I don’t agree with many of Glove’s appointments in these fields, and will not be keeping many of those personnel. However, the Defense, Interior, and Education departments will remain largely intact, with the current people running things. Defense has been functioning at a high level under less than ideal circumstances, largely due to the work of Gnilraps and John Jay, who went out of their way, made up for the slacking of other individuals, and proved their abilities beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Transitional Government Changes
There will be no Vice President
Artela has been named Chief of Staff
Alexander Auctoritas has been named Secretary of State
Avruch has been named National Security Council Director

We’ll begin appointing other individuals as they’re needed, but considering this is only a nine day term, it would be fairly silly to appoint a large staff, simply to have them become moot shortly after they get a hang of their responsibilities. As for the current members of Glove’s administration, if you’re willing to assist in some capacity, send me a message.

Shortly after my defeat at the hands of Glove, I published an article, entitled Convergence, and told everyone who supported me the following, “To put aside the partisanship for now, to bury the past, and to move forward in our eLives. Stay with your Military Units, continue fighting for the country, and work with the current Administration, not against it. If I’m asked to serve, then I will serve. It’s always better to work towards something positive than sit on the sidelines and criticize those who try.”

I advised Glove until my access was taken away, and my advice shunned. I served until I was no longer needed, and now I’m in a position to serve again. The situation has not changed, but our positions have reversed. It’s up to those who support Glove to decide whether or not they want to serve, or sit on the sidelines. I welcome anyone who wants to help, and we all know that I’m going to need it, especially from the people who currently have positions.

Above all, it’s your call. As of yet, various organizations, IRC channels, and the Civ MU are still held by the Glove Administration. I hope that we’ll be able to regain control of them, but in the end, it makes little difference. How this transition goes is entirely in the hands of Glove, and I’ve no idea how he’ll progress from this point on. The next few days will be hectic, but we’ll work to stabilize things for the next CP. It’s not glamorous, but it’s our duty.

Until next time,
